It's interesting that this judge doesn't seem to get as much aggression and confrontation from the defendants. I like that phrase, 'Rational Behaviour Therapy'. Learning to manage your own mental illness ... what is that if not a crash course in rationalism? Do that, and you become more based because *you have to* become more based, in a way that people who haven't struggled with mental illness don't need to. This is why mentally ill people who are successful in self-management produce some of the world's finest (if unsung) rationalists.
Albert Ellis developed Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy for the reasons you explored. We can control some things in life and not others. That fact makes our choices so important. I have yet to meet a therapist who doesn't think of therapy as education: giving their clients the tools to recognize choices and to make the best choices. If you have a chance, people have posted some of Dr. Ellis' lectures to RUclips. They have wisdom and irreverent humor. Actually, I think Mike and Dr. Ellis would get along well.
Defendant: I'm not working now because I'm in-between jobs. Judge: You need to get a job for those times you're not working. Defendant: * act like that's the first time someone suggested he do that * 🤦🏼♂️
At his age with 4 kids, he should be working 60 hours a week. The kids are only getting a portion of his unemployment not the full amount. He needs to have side jobs, i worked with alot of contract workers, they worked the 3-6 weeks at our company and also had other jobs when not working. That way they have income 12 months a year, never applied for unemployment.
Did I understand 1st one right: --Attempted kidnap of a child (0:46) --Violation of protective order (1:19) --Multiple assaults including waiting trial for assaulting a pregnant woman (DV) And they're even considering bond?!
I think he had felony court soon anyway, and they're gonna do bond revocation due the number of violations. He's probably just looking at the scope of his misdemeanors.

He cant refuse a defendant their RIGHT to an attorney simply because he doesn’t feel like they deserve one based off their current employment status and or their employment history.
If you're capable of working but your not working then you're stealing money from tax paying citizens to be on unemployment. Unemployment isn't supposed to be for nice little hustles where you work sometimes and not others but get paid the entire time. It's not just him thats scamming tax payers it's the company he works for too because I guarantee you they help them use this loophole so they don't have to pay them in between jobs but can keep them readily available for the next job by keeping them on unemployment so they don't have to get a real job that pays them full time. I'm actually not on his side because he's scamming the system that my wages get taxed to pay for. I'd rather just abolish unemployment and keep my money if he's just going to abuse it to sit on his ass for weeks in between jobs.
