Confused Reviews - Episode 59 - Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)
Wes Craven's New Nightmare (also known simply as New Nightmare) is a 1994 American meta supernatural slasher film written and directed by Wes Craven, creator of 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street. A standalone film and the seventh installment in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, it is not part of the same continuity as previous films, instead portraying Freddy Krueger as a fictional movie villain who invades the real world and haunts the cast and crew involved in the making of the films about him. In the film, Freddy is depicted as closer to what Craven originally intended, being much more menacing and less comical, with an updated attire and appearance.
The film features various people involved in the motion picture industry portraying themselves, including Heather Langenkamp, who is compelled by events in the narrative to reprise her role as Nancy Thompson. New Nightmare features several homages to the original film such as quotes and recreations of the most famous scenes. The film won an International Fantasy Film Award from Fantasporto for Best Screenplay by Craven.
New Nightmare was released on October 14, 1994, grossing $19.8 million at the box office on a budget of $8 million, making it the poorest-performing film in the Nightmare series. However, it received positive reviews from critics, and is considered by many as one of the best Nightmare movies and one of Wes Craven's most enduring films. It was followed by 2003's Freddy vs. Jason, a crossover with the Friday the 13th franchise set in the same continuity as the other Nightmare films.

Sorry for the re-upload, the music I used for the skit was from New Nightmare, and the glorious copyright bots claimed and blocked it worldwide. So, here it is with some new background music! Christmas (in January) Special coming soon! -CR
Fair enough.
I was wondering why I couldn't watch it earlier.
Howdy peeps
“Chasing him” 😂👏😂👏😂👏😂👏
Confused reviews
Next season u have to review some of coen brothers great films like no country for old men or fargo
RIP Wes Craven 😢👼🙏
I think 1, 3 and New Nightmare make a really great trilogy.
Agreed! The rest are just kinda side stories, I always saw those as the main Elm Street story. Thanks for watching as always Chris!
@CJWright1977 Yep
HL can’t act to save her fucking life.Jesse in part 2 is a much better actor and so is Tuesday Knight ha.
@@BIadesManbooooo. HL was awesome
Besides the original A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), The Dream Warriors and Freddy vs Jason, Wes Craven's New Nightmare is my third favorite movie in the Series. Without this movie we would never have gotten the Scream Franchise, one of the best Horror Movie Franchises.
Thank you Wes Craven for giving us this movie and R.I.P. 😔
God I love this movie. The trailers and images freaked me out when I was a kid, and when I finally saw it, it became a favorite. I love trench coat demon Freddy, and the whole concept is brilliant. As always, great video
Thank you!
This is my second favorite Nightmare movie. I also think this has the best Freddy look.
The first three have a nice look for Fred, but this one is fantastic.
Not me. He clothes look brand new and his makeup looks like a mask from Spencer's gifts.
And this channel still rules.
I don't know about everyone else, but this was really my first intro into the whole META idea, unless you count ferrisbueler and zackmorris
Oh and parker Lewis I think
Insightful review as always mate!
Thanks jay!
Fun Fact: Apparently Wes Craven, while watching the series to get ready for New Nightmare, he thought Freddy’s Dead was so bad that he actually just stopped halfway through.
How much more terrible could you make a movie?
Amazing work you've done for this video Luke just like every other video of yours! Top quality is always consistent with your videos dude, I hope at some point you get successful enough to do this full time. I'm looking forward to the next one, will it be the Christmas Special you spoke of? 1,4,2,3 and this I very much love. The order doesn't mean that much considering they're all pretty close.
Thank you as always, you keep the show going! Yes, the Christmas special is next and then onto season 4! (And don’t forget Ferris Bueller is next year...)
Confused Reviews what what what? Fuck yeah!!! That'll be amazing Luke sucks I have to wait til next year still awesome!
I agree 100%. This is definitely among the greatest of the series. Dream Warriors, New Nightmare and the Original.
You're ALL my children now-Freddy Krueger
So that means Freddy vs Jason is next?
yes.
Lesson here. All the best Elm Street movies have Heather Langenkamp in them. If they ever reboot the series, they need to remember that she’s essential.
This channel really rules.
The channel totally rules.
You could review Tom And Jerry: The Movie (1992). I love that movie. I don't think it deserves the hate that it receives from fans who prefer that Tom And Jerry Don't Speak At All. I think it deserves more love since it was a new idea, and they also spoke in a few the original shorts, like The Zoot Cat, And The Million Dollar Cat.
@Queen Lazy Eye I actually got this movie on videocassette, along with Madagascar (2005) also on videocassette.
I fucking love this channel
Finding Nemo is also my Favorite Pixar Movie.

MIKO HUGHES / DYLAN
was actually surprised by the punch
This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid
This movie scared the shit outta me when I was 8. Watched it with my cousin as soon as it hit blockbuster. The meta take was an incredible decision, and gave birth the the scream franchise. **knife fingered chefs kiss**
Not to mention that Nancy's teacher in the first film also appeared in Detroit rock city playing as jam's mom
Great review, my favorites from the franchise also are 1, 3 and 7.
Review Freddy Vs. Jason. It's got my favorite logo from New Line.
13:32 yeah Julie was also my favorite
When's the face reveal, I wonder what you look like 🤔🤔
I’m a cartoon

FUN FACT
IN 1 VERSION OF THE SCRIPT
REAL FREDDY KRUEGER
WAS TRYING TO TAKEOVER
ROBERT ENGLUND'S
BODY
TO LIVE IN THE
REAL WORLD
AND MOST OF THE ACTUAL
NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST
MOVIES CASTS WERE SUPPOSED TO COME BACK
AND MORPH INTO THEIR
CHARACTERS INCLUDING
BOTH
KRISTEN PARKER'S
AND THEN FIGHT THE
REAL FREDDY KRUEGER
TO THE DEATH
BUT THEY SCRAPPED THAT
IDEA AS TOO UNBELIEVABLE
@SceneMissingFilms
ACTUALLY IT WAS TALKED
ABOUT BY
ROBERT ENGLUND
IN A
NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST
interview
he said :
" the 7th
A NIGHTMARE ON
ELM STREET movie was
supposed to take place in
THE REAL WORLD
and it involves
FREDDY KRUEGER
trying to cross over into
REALITY through
ME - ROBERT ENGLUND
and
it has cameos by original
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST
cast members "
they scrapped that idea
because 1 of the
NEW LINE CINEMA EXECS
thought it was stupid
Wonder if you'll eventually cover Freddy vs Jason and the 2010 Reboot.
Hey look, I am going to need you to keep making videos. Please don't abandon me after I get attached, like everything else in my life.

@@ConfusedReviews this 6 second clip is better than new nightmare
You’re awesome
You’re awesomer
@@ConfusedReviews I’ve been watching some of your videos and I really enjoying your content
Thank you so much! New videos on the way!
To me this is Were the series hits it's low point another one being The Remake And I'll explain my reasons why.
1 Its Not An Elm Street movie you can barley call it one because.its in the real world and not in the Elm st universe
2. Freddy Is barley On the screen and gets about a Little bit of screen time
The rest of the movie is just boring talk
3. it feels like a Big FU to the fans who loved nightmares 2,3,4,5,6 And To the people who Made Freddy what he is today.
That's my reasons for why new Nightmare is not a good movie and only exists just to make a profit like the 2016 Ghostbusters remake.
