Every good chemistry youtuber has to do this at least once
Yeah that's bullshit. I'm pretty sure LSD is the one
@@BostonWatch fun chemistry tho
Yes. In Crocks.
I appreciate that in the video you both explained how to dispose and why what you're doing was necessary /what it did. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
@@chemdelic fascinating chemistry video excellent quality very well done sir. Ever since I studied chemistry in high school I have always been fascinated by chemistry. I'm curious as well when you said concentrated nitric acid was used in this video how concentrated was the nitric acid used in this video was it 68% nitric acid used in this video ?
Fascinating. You narrate well and if the chemistry thing doesn’t work out for you then you can always read for Audible. Seriously.
why wouldt the chemistry thing work out for him LOL

It wasn’t an insult. It’s a backhanded compliment! The man has a wonderful speaking voice.
@@ibnewton8951 "It’s a backhanded compliment!" so an insult disguised as a compliment
@@EclipsedYamiOldCan you kick rocks and let the guy give a compliment?
@@cancelhandles he said himself that it was a backhanded compliment so I'm not sure what your problem is
"It almost reminds me of, like, coca-
-...nut shavings."
I have always found that I needed higher concentration of ammonia to dissolve silver than literature. Maybe over time it will dissolve but using a higher concentration has worked for me. edit so you ended up using higher concentration in the end
This guy is a mix between nilered and jerryrigeverything
15:07 just casually acting like my sleep paralysis demon
I love the meme lord level of chemistry.
I'm so glad I found another dope chemistry channel, been watching for a bit now and this is PEAK entertainment. Keep up the great work!
socks with crocs is a real big brain move.
As long as you keep dodge rolling through the fumes they can't effect you during the I-frames
Im here for the "however, i decided" parts 😆
its really important when making videos (and also chemistry) to speak quietly in some shots and make sure youre giving the mic a taste in others. Really adds to the ambiance and asmr qualities and thats why I'm a sub.
Your effort is appreciated.
reminds me of what steve mould and alpha phoenix uploaded recently. seems like mirrors are trendy.
Very good video with the whole learning proces and document it
Ayyy! Another Chemdelic video! love it
I like the inclusion of the disposal portion, the "boring part" really isn't shown that much online and it's just as interesting imo.
I was just reading about the tollens reagent and how it helps distinguish between aldehyde and ketones. great timing!
Very cool. It reminds me of something that happened a few years ago when I was recovering some gold from scrap. When I went to precipitate the gold instead of falling as a powder it coated the inside of the flask like a gold mirror just like the silver did. I'm not a big fan of the look of gold but this was beautiful. I tried but I was not able to reproduce it and I have no idea how or why this happened.
nice
Awesome. Nice Croc's.
that's 7 years of bad luck
I would love to see something on how you film your videos keep up the good work
Oh man the Crocks'n'socks
I don't think this is the first thing I want to try in a backyard chem setup, but I am intrigued by DIY first-surface mirrors. Also, it seems likely that your neighbours are convinced they live next to a wizzard, given the bad smells and occasional explosion from your yard. 🫡
Safety crocs FTW
What's optically the best coating for a first surface mirror? The inside of the flask looked highly oxidized. It would be cool to see how reflective the inner surface would be after a quick dip in liquid chemical silver jewelry cleaner, and to see how long it would take to tarnish in air.
Good luck with the finals
Maybe the real mirrors are the friends we made along the way
I thought you were smart... until.. I saw crocs with socks!
it's fun to see someone do the sorta things I wish nilered would
NileRed does have a video on this! Link in description
Great!
Maybe next time try reducing anhydrides into cyclic esters, like phthalic or succinic anhydride?
Boy's not satisfied pissing off only the DEA. Now he's got to get the ATF pissed. At least he knows not to f with the treasury department.
Thank you for continuously making chemistry more interesting
It's my pleasure!
Bro youre tge goat 🐐
6:03 🤨 also, great video as always!
Very cool, simple video. What happened at 2:55, you say precipitate out of solution 3 times ;) btw. I am still shocked about the quality for such a young channel, congrats
I just suck at speaking
Aww man.. those wolf coins are so nice and have such a high premium
Not anymore lol
That's seven bad years of Bad luck
Anybody else thought he was gonna say something else until he finished with "onut shavings"?
you remind me of a really cool and funny older brother :)
thank you for helping me get into chemistry like as soon as highschool came ((helpme)
Thank you! That was really kind of you to say :)
This reaction is VERY useful for copying holographs embossed on plastic, SWIM has had mixed amounts of success using this mirroring solution to copy the holographs on the back of the lamination of non-state-issued identification cards. Wash off all the adhesive, silver the back of the laminating plastic, coat it in a thick layer of copper using electrolysis of CuSO4 mixed with PEG 3350 (MiraLax), peel it off, and emboss it onto some transparency acetate with a cookie sheet and a clothes iron, inkjet print a reverse image of your definitely-not-edited ID on there, trace in your UV markings with the invisible ink pen from the book fair in middle school, and slap it on the solvent-washed remains of your dad's Blockbuster card with the clothes iron again and you got a damn good fake ID.
7 years bad luck !
Hi
I have a compound called silver iodide (Agl).
What reaction can I do, such as a substitution reaction, in order to recover silver in the form of nitrate?
Destroying shit is always a mood 😂
Dilute acid with a drip wise addition of peroxide is almost as fast but way more economical and less fumey
I have spent several hours watching your methodology/protocol and I have become a fan. It is a shame that home Chemists get a bad rap these days. They think all your doing is criminal in nature. if you had a laboratory at home back in the day you weren’t a terrorist or making drugs, you were an innovator - someone using the beauty of Chemistry in the pursuit of knowledge. ~Strike
I agree, it’s a shame. I’ve been wanting to start doing chemistry as a hobby, but everybody I tell that to instantly dismisses it as dangerous/criminal.
Another banger. Still waiting for that kratom extraction 😁
Either next video or the one after that!
@@chemdelic your a g 🫡
Now i want coconut shavings ...
Only a coward thinks they don't have urea on hand
coconut shavings huh
i wonder about mixing in a serious thickener agent, altho i guess potential interference/participation in the reaction would have to be checked, seems like it should be possible at least to add it to one of the reagent solutions. The idea would be to more easily coat a surface with less material, including say the spiral of an old cooler (*condenser).
And yea about the aldehyde group: need a "reducing sugar"
Well uuuhhhmm you did it on your own
Witchcraft! HE"S A WITCH!!!
During the decantation step of getting silver nitrate, would it be possible to use a vacuum filter instead? To get the dry silver nitrate that is
I mean you probably could! Just as minimal heat as possible
@@chemdelic fair, thanks for the reply!
You should pump the NO2 through some hydrogen peroxide to recycle some of the expensive nitric acid.
in my country concentrated hydrogen peroxide is more expensive than concentrated nitric acid
Some feedback: I think you should up the audio levels during editing. The videos are pretty quiet even at max volume. The content itself is great though.
7 years of bad luck
Nice crocs
Hah awesome!
Lab crocs let's goooooo
CHEMISTRY CROCS!!!
Have ya ever made urea from DEF. It’s supposed to be 60/40 water and urea.
Can you do one where you synthesize hemoglobin according to it's chemical formula and compound? The whole iron hydrogen oxygen and all that? I know it won't be genetic, but still, may get you recognized at some robotics lab?
Let me look into it! Thank you
gotta say - I'd have kept it. was that even possible? could you keep it once it was coated all over the flask?
Wearing cloth gloves? f you get the acid on the glove it'll just sit right on your skin. I think no gloves is the best option.
I had other ones underneath!
15:28 I think you should buy a different brand of coffee. That looks weak af...
Nice video btw, i hope you make it more big. Rooting for ya.
Damn! It's wasn't for silver bullets for werewolves 😢
Why didn't you recover the silver with nitric acid before you broke the flask? Might have been interesting.
If you live near people, i hope they dont know what a m*th lab smells like. You might get some unwanted friends knocking on your door.
Algorithm god
😢 I'm from Canada.😅
Then you understand 😂
NurdRage’s kid I’m sure of it
Was I the only one who was super disappointed when he smashed the flask? I know that’s the title and his entire purpose of the video, but after spending 16 minutes watching him make it, watching him smash it just felt… wrong.
I was gonna shoot it with a gun, but RUclips ain’t like that
I was gonna Pog at the insane drip with the supreme gloves at the start but then I saw the crocs at the end of the vid.
Bro...
No vac filter lol
I’d have to clean it then lol
