Thanks brother! That was a little apprehensive about doing my front brake. No longer and he issues thank you that is my daily driver you help me immensely. Keep on keeping on brother,
Good video, but since you didn't install new pads, it could be worth mentioning that you would want to put the pads back on the same side of the disc as they were before removal, to avoid having to "break them in" again. Also measure the thickness of the disc, so that it is in within spec. It will get thinner and thinner the more you use your breaks, and will eventually fail if not replaced in time, which could be very dangerous! Pads will of course also wear out eventually.
This certainly gives me a good idea of how to properly adjust and replace my disk brake, as I have the exact brand moped! Last time I got my disk brake replaced it costed me almost $100 for the mechanics to do the work for me. However, still kinda nervous of doing any sort of modification on my own moped, as I don't want to screw anything up.
great video going to place pads and front rotor on my 49cc sprint bintelli sprint scooter and your video is what i needed not paying 80 dollars and hr for some one thats wnats to tinker with trying to figure how to replace it
" HEY NTHEFASTLANE "WOW im impressed ! My sisrers garage is metal pole barn with dirt floor where i ( LOSE ) about everything i drop on the ground " BUT " i love my sister & every inch of her 100+ acer missouri farm & ill bet your sister is nice THANKS-4-GOOD-VIDEO
Hey , I'm glad you took the time to make such a quality video ; I seen you tighten the rear brake , but you didn't say how far would be too far , isn't there an indication of when the brake shoes need to be replaced ?
Great video. Today I got my front brake pads replaced and the shop charged me $95 for labor itself. Hell no. I'm gonna do the back ones myself soon. Thanks a lot
Hi N...followed your instructions and my squeeky front brakes are quiet as a mouse. Didn't need new pads...just a good cleaning. I also adjusted the rear as you show in the video. My only remaining issue is the rear brake is still very squeeky but I don't see the brake assembly that i can access like the front.
yeah, me too. Did ya figure it out? I'm assembling the one out of the box and on test drive. The front brake is on the soft side and really sounds awful when breaking.
Just trying to get info on doing a rear brake fix on my oldest daughter and fiance's e city scooter. The right handle grips to the handle. Looking at this video the rear brake is on the left. But on theirs I believe it is the right? If that is the one for the rear brakes? The handle appears on, it's the cable that either is stretched or just bad. When I tightened the back bolt it seemed to work. Then would just go lose again. My daughter was riding one day and fell on the right side , causing the handle to hit the ground. Seems I may need to replace the whole cable.
Should the rear wheel spinning freely when you move it with your hand? Mine doesn't and I'm not really sure if that is suppose to be like that or not. It's a new scooter.
Thanks gonna try my one sir but do you have to bleed it? Do I top up with brake fluid? How often you have to change the brake fluid at what mileage or kilometers is regular change? My brakes are grinding so I need to change them.
Hey brotha, I want to know if you can adjust the front brakes, I can't find anywhere where some one tells how to do it? My front brakes are so loose, there is nothing , not even friction at all.
i have this problem after replacing my brake levers, my front brake lever is too far from my fingers. what i wanna know is how to adjust the lever a little bit closer to my finger so i can have a better control. my lever dont have a span adjusting knob... thanks in advance...
@@Chris-se5ee oh thanks! I ended up forcing the middle part of a screwdriver in between it to make it wider and it worked. I learned my lesson I should have never press the brakes without it being on the disc haha
After the mechanic adjusted the rear brake on my Vespa Primavera 2015, I put my scooter on my centre stand and it was stiff rolling backwards. I also felt it was difficult to depress the rear brake lever. There was very little play and it took quite a bit of force. Any thoughts? Great video, thanks.
My 50cc scooter is a 05 and drives good on flat land but on a hill it only goes maybe 10 mph up it and sounds like it's bogging out what can I do to fix that ?
damn. i like to mess around and slide 180 with the back brake. used to do it on a yamaha tzr50. i would just have to change the back brake pad a little often. but i see scooters dont use the same system. probably going to stop that on my scooter now that i know.
HI please help!! i was riding my taotao 49cc moped. and for some weird reason the front brake does not work ?!?! i can bring the front brake handle bar all the way down. how do i make it tight? please help
My front brake looks sort of like your back brake. My back brake looks completely different. Still seeing I could remove the front brake assembly gave me hopes this is something I can fix myself.
I took my front tire off to change it and now the disc break is barely rubbing a little. we were really careful to work with the disc up and not bend it. do you have any suggestions of why it might be rubbing now?
I just assembled one of these out of the box. These are great little scooters, but whoever is running needs to either enjoy tinkering or have a good mechanic nearby. They are great Little starter scooter, but realize you're not gonna get the good behavior like you would out of a $4000 Vespa.
so a few days ago I took my recently fixed moped out for a ride, I noticed that when I was reving up it would go faster than drop speed significantly then go back to normal so no biggie right? wrong, so im close to home about to be there and the engine stops at a stop sign I assume its the idle but it really struggled to pick itself back up there like it was reving but just couldnt stay running but eventually I got it up just enough to get home. next day I tried taking it out for a ride and I was going up a hill fully reved and it started getting slower and slower with a car behind me too so I pull over and after it just wouldnt start back up, I could rev it but if I didnt rev it it wouldnt make any noise and it wouldnt move the wheels or anything, the carb is totally new and I did notice I had a fuel leak but I fixed the tubing and it was all good but I tried starting it up and it was still doing it so I dont know what the issue could be, any ideas?
Where is the best place to buy new pads, I bought a scooter with no front break pads (My Mistake) but if I wanted to upgrade some things as well... I don't have many scooter stores out here where I'm at.
MyAcresOfDiamonds Have you tried spinning the wheels while stopped, both should be easy to spin with your hand. The rear is a simple adjustment if it has drum brakes and if its the front sticking then you'll need to follow the procedure done in the video or it may be a seized brake piston or calliper slides. Or another possible option is that your idle is to high with the back wheel in the air and the scooter idling the wheel shouldn't spin.

Being a first time scooter owner and having no mechanical background whatsoever this was super helpful.
Excellent, even 11 years later. You've left you mark on humanity!
I'm actually upgrading my 50cc to a 100cc and I've been watching ur videos as reference so please the more the better thanx
Thanks brother! That was a little apprehensive about doing my front brake. No longer and he issues thank you that is my daily driver you help me immensely. Keep on keeping on brother,
Thanks for taking your time to explain this front brake replacement... it made everything go smooth for me on my replacement.. Thanks dude!!!
No problem Chris, Glad it helped!
I highly recommend this video, he does an excellent job in explaining the how to do it and I am very impressed and it does work very well
Great little video. That probably saved me about $100 - since following your instructions I can do it myself.

That was some good info about changing brakes
Very well done, efficient, planned. Thank you.

Hey brotha, I want to know if you can adjust the front brakes, I can't find anywhere where some one tells how to do it?
My front brakes are so loose, there is nothing , not even friction at all.
How do Inget the length of the cable for the front brakes? Do you have that in inches?
thank you!
Thank you so much.
thanks!
i have this problem after replacing my brake levers, my front brake lever is too far from my fingers. what i wanna know is how to adjust the lever a little bit closer to my finger so i can have a better control. my lever dont have a span adjusting knob... thanks in advance...
It is an old video. Nonetheless, it does give me some guidance on how to adjust my rear brake as it has begun to drag.
Do these brakes work for a jiajue 2020-21 50cc jj50qt-21 models??????
Cool vid...
Sorry if this is a stupid question. But is it the same procedure for changing rear brakes?
good video
nice ur work ...
How do I loosen the break pads for some clearance pleeease??? I pressed the break lever when I took it off , now there jammed shut.
Same, how did u fix it?
ItzSkullii my friend opened it up with a clamp like the ones you use for wood work or metal work. Instead clamping down with you clamp it open
@@Chris-se5ee oh thanks! I ended up forcing the middle part of a screwdriver in between it to make it wider and it worked. I learned my lesson I should have never press the brakes without it being on the disc haha
ItzSkullii haha yeah me too, I kept pressing the brake , won’t be doing that again
does this work for the sliverwing

+Iam Irish loosen the cable a bit, might be too tight.
Thanks..will do that.
Helpful
For an electric scooter, the process is likely the same yes?
hello friend, a question which is the name of the track being between the way the brake fluid and the clamp that holds the brake disc?

Where do you get the pads
I always pin the store to the top comment, or in the about section of the video. Just scroll to the top and there will be a link. 👍
What if I have the nut on back brakes screwed up almost all the way and my back brakes lever is squeezed all the way in?
Then it's possible that your drum brake pad inside is completely worn out and needs to be replaced.
I took my front tire off to change it and now the disc break is barely rubbing a little. we were really careful to work with the disc up and not bend it. do you have any suggestions of why it might be rubbing now?

MyAcresOfDiamonds Have you tried spinning the wheels while stopped, both should be easy to spin with your hand. The rear is a simple adjustment if it has drum brakes and if its the front sticking then you'll need to follow the procedure done in the video or it may be a seized brake piston or calliper slides.
