Hi, Thanks I sure enjoyed this Final Stitch it was very helpful for me. I don't put border strips on my quilts, I just make larger quilts. The way you explained squaring borders makes total sense to me. Guess what, my next quilt is going to be done with border strips. Thank you so much, please keep all the weekly tutorials going, love them all. James
I am so grateful for these Final Stitch videos. They are the perfect addition to my weekly MSQVS (Missouri Star Quilting Video Schedule)! Keep them coming, Natalie!
I’ve been waiting for this installment of the series! Thank you, it was very helpful. Squaring is something I struggle with, especially with larger quilts!
This was very helpful and I think it will help a lot when I trim my next quilt. I really enjoy watching the turorials from Missourii Star and have learned so much, they are one of the first places I go to to learn and solve problems and I thank you all
This is so much easier than laying it out on the floor and feeling I have to cut 1 long line. Aligning to the border inside seam gives me the confidence that it'll be straight from corner to corner. I've come close to grabbing hubbys chalk snap line! 😂😂
Love this. I have a huge quilt that I just removed from the long arm and the recipient is going to hang it. No borders. All large half-square triangles. (7 1/2 sq) Better be ‘squared’-a.k.a. Absolutely straight.👍
This has been so helpful!! I keep hearing "square your blocks" or "square your quilt". I thought I would need a huge table or my floor, but now I know I can do this on my kitchen counter with my mat underneath.
This was such a great tutorial! Your timing is perfect given where I am with a few projects! Excellent. Wonderful pace, great camera coverage and lots of ideas about how to proceed. Thank you!
Hi Natalie and Liz! This tutorial was so helpful. I didn't realize how spoiled I was, as my longarm girl, trims all my quilts. I've been wanting to start the quilting part of my quilts myself, so this info will be very handy,. Wish me luck! Also, a big THANK YOU to MSQC for all you do in helping us all stay safe in these difficult times.
Natalie love yourFinal Stitch episodes. You’ve showed me so many helpful tips already I especially like Trimming & Squaring episodes. Your knowledge of quilting helps me to grow as a quilter. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to share.
I am new and a self-taught quilter. Many of my family members, who live across the country, try to talk me through how to do some quilting techniques however it never translates and I end up with a mess. Your videos are superb! As others have commented, you have a certain calm and teaching technique that clicks with me and I love them. Keep up the videos! Nicely done!
Thank you! With this tutorial I was finally able to square a quilt that did not have a traditional border. Excellent advice about consistent cutting following a common point. As a new quilter Final Stitch is just what's needed to move forward on new projects.
Natalie, you explain things so well and concisely. Needed this today to square up a small art quilt and have quite of few actual pieced quilts I’ve been avoiding since I was intimidated by the next steps. Your Final Stitch videos are critical and much appreciated. Have a blessed day. More whole cloth examples please.
I've made a number of quilts and never really knew how to "square up" my quilts. I just kind of "fudged" it. Thanks for the instructions! I actually used some of them without knowing I was doing it right :)
I would love to learn how to quilt a whole cloth quilt. My eldest daughter wants a quilt, but isn't into patchwork. I love watching videos by you, Jenny and Misty...keep them coming!!!
I am doing more modern style quilts that have a lot of negative space. So more tips/tricks on squaring whole cloth would be really helpful! You are doing a GREAT job with these videos Natalie....thank you so much🙏🏻 Concord, NC
I watched this video a few days ago; I’m just finishing a baby quilt and thought I’m going to watch Natalie’s video again to make sure I remember exactly how she squared up her quilt. Thank you for all these learning opportunities
Hi from Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. I just discovered Natalie’s “The Final Stitch”. Thanks for the tip of using a Square ruler to start at the corners - never thought of that. DUH! I’m a avid presser throughout the entire process of creating a quilt top and I always press my quilt before I start the trimming stage. I look forward to watching more of your presentations and learning more Tips & Tricks.
Great information, your explanation & demo is excellent. Especially like your tip at the end on how to better use your diagonals on the straight rule. Thanks Natalie, from Ontario, Canada.
This is the best squaring up and trimming quilt video!! I learned the why as well as the how which is missed in other videos. Thank you so much, Natalie!
I'm a total beginner, but this was so very helpful! I learned a lot by watching this, and can't wait to incorporate these suggestions into my next quilt!
Excellent series! Natalie, you do a great job with your explanations. Very easy to understand. I also like the background moderator, too. It makes the series more of a conversation with questions and comments that a person standing there watching you do this would have, if they were there. I also like how the person's query is printed out before you start your demonstration.
Thank you, Natalie! I never knew how to do this before now. You give the information in a very methodical manner so that we can understand just how to do it. Great teaching! MSQC needs to have you do even more live videos!
Natalie, I really enjoy your show! I especially enjoy your calm, knowledge and delivery! You make common quilting difficulties make sense and show us a solution!!! Thank you!!
I can’t believe you just solved my headache problem about my crooked edged quilt. What a genius idea to stitch and flip fabric on the edge..now THAT is really cool! Thank you!🥰
Natalie, you covered all points! A perfect video for me as I am trying to cut my first wonky quilt! You have an amazing teaching style…easy to listen to, easy to follow! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This tutorial, and the one about binding, are the two most helpful tutorials I have used. They are so well explained and mean you can get a good result even if you aren’t an experienced quilter and your work isn’t perfectly aligned. Thank you Natalie!!! Xxx
Great tutorial. Now I have an idea to finish my quilts. Thank you. MSCQ is the reason I started quilting and getting better. I am a huge fan and love my Friday mornings watching your tutorials. Stay safe. ❤️ from Northern Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰
Hi Natalie. I love these videos that tackle various issues that may come up while crating a quilt. This video made squaring up a quilt this week much easy and successful.
Wow Thank You!!!! I just cut off the edges to match the quilt top never knew to square the corners now my quilts will be soooo much better. My sisters will think I'm a pro. Thank you again. Love all the videos from MSQC I have learned a lot
Of all the tutorials I have watched yours is far the best, you explain everything down to the letter, show it slowly. I love to sew quilts, but usually had a hard time with the squaring. Not anymore. I sew clothes too and love your top!
-How great! I love how you women bring out the joy in sewing and really enjoy the format of The Final Stitch. -I, for one, would really benefit from more whole cloth tutorials. I'm trying to work up the nerve to tackle a Welsh whole cloth quilt. -There are a few times in the series when you two talk at the same time and it's hard-to-impossible to figure out what's being said. It would be helpful if, when that happens, you could repeat individually what you had just explained so it could be understood. We don't want to lose any of the info!
Hello Nat, I just loved this tutorial. I am always stuck with squaring up my quilts. But with these tips and tricks my life is going so much easier. Thank you so much for everything.
I just trimmed a quilt but never thought of making sure it was square or that my borders were all straight and even. This is great information for the next quilt I do.
Natalie, thanks so much! I'm a newbie, haven't stated a quilt yet. I am learning so much from you. I plan to start small, maybe a pillow. You are a natural, keep the tutorials coming!!!
I'm beginner in quilting and I find this vid extremely helpful! I've always admired a rounded corner but had no idea how it was done. Now I think I could try it, too. Thank you for taking the mystery and nervousness out of squaring and trimming!
Oh my Goodness! That Christmas quilt with no border looks almost exactly like mine. It's the Double slice and I have some of the same fabrics in mine. I didn't put a border on mine either, , but I did do a scrappy binding.
