It a pleasure to see you reviewing a product other than a vehicle. You are often prepared in your representation and communicate very well. You also at times enjoy including your wonderful family in the videos. You have a knack for making interesting videos. Thank you for producing the Ottocast U2-X Pro and giving us a demonstration. Well done. May you and your family have a fantastic holiday season.
Wow thank-you for such a kind comment. We really appreciate the time you took to reach out and share and wish you the very best in the holiday season and the new year. Thanks so much for the support. Cheers!
Will,,,I just received this Ottocast U2-X Pro ,this afternoon ( waited 2 weeks to arrive ) first setup, did not detect it , did a few times , I used the Type C to the device to my USB Port in my vehicle and i also tested that , the device turns off after about 2 mins and 25 seconds , so it doesn't stay on , all the time , which is great , i don't know if the type C port on the device is for Apple Carplay and it showed up as Carplay on the icon , but launches as Android Auto , ran very smoothly , I use the Samsung Z Fold 4 phone and ran great on my Kia Sorento 2021 , 10.25" screen , yes the Google Map is a bit wider ,bigger , then when using the old way , cable to phone. Great product,, haven't yet try updating the device, yet !!, but thank you so much for introducing this device, cheers
I went with the CarLinkit 3.0 for $100 for my '20 Kia Soul, similar principal, works a charm as long as the vehicle supports wired CarPlay but the resync button on yours is definitely a step up instead of unplugging and plugging.
I didn't think I'd love being wireless as much as I do. No cable getting caught up on the gearshift. CarLinkIt recognizes multiple phones and has a pop down list on the screen of the Kia to choose. But the 3.0 model only supports CarPlay (not a problem since we have iPhones) Their 4.0 unit ($185 C) supports both AA and CarPlay.
Great little review. One small correction, I think your car does need to support Apple Carplay (not Android Auto) as the little box behaves as an IOS device even if you connect an Android phone to it. So it won't work on a car that e.g. has Android Auto but not Apple Carplay.
I’m not sure about that but if that’s correct then the hood thing is that most cars have both and only a handful of older vehicle do my cane with Android auto only. Thanks
After watching your video review, I ordered this item 8 days ago, not realizing that it’s coming from China. My account was charged the day after I placed the order online. Yet, there is no shipping information updates, other than the item is still in China. I emailed the company and did not receive a reply from them. And after I placed the order, I found out that I could have ordered the same item on Amazon for the exact same price (including the discount). I’m kicking myself for ordering from this company. For those of you out there who are thinking of ordering this item, do your research BEFORE you order directly from the company. I wish I did.
Thanks for the update. That’s odd though, mine was super fast. You gotta love Amazon though. Will check on the discount and share that link as well. Cheers and hope it doesn’t take much longer.
8 days and they haven't even provided any tracking info? Really doesn't sound like them unless they're in some sort of lockdown. Can you just call your credit card company and just cancel? here I thought I was special with them giving me a discount :)
Thanks for the reply. I’m surprised too that I haven’t received any updates from the company regarding my order. If there are no updates by Monday, I’ll probably contact my CC company and cancel the order. Check out the item on Amazon. It’s listed for the exact same price with the same discount.
Hi very insightful video though I am curious since you also have a Hyundai....how do you overcome the issue with the usb power staying on when shutting off the vehicle? I have a 2021 sonata hybrid and when I turn off the vehicle and walk away my phone is still connected to the adapter because the car doesnt cut off power to its usb port until a 10 min delay. Therefore I would be walking around in my house missing phone calls or text messages because my phone was still thinking it was connected. Maybe others dont have this problem if they walk far enough from the car. But mine is parked in the garage. So I had to manually remember to disconnect my wireless android auto everytime I get out of my car or just wait the 10 mins for the car to cut off power to its usb port. I also rread some forums and saw many other people complain about this issue such as Tucson or Santafe. Do you know if this new ottocast model has some software feature built in to help with that? I returned mine out of frustration but that was the non pro model as this one you reviewed looks newer released. Thanks
Hi, I just purchased the ottocast pro , for my kia sorento 2021 , but sorry how long did you waited for the package to arrive for you in Canada, bc ,looking forward to receiving it myself, thx for sharing this device
Thanks for a great video. What doesn’t become clear is: does it also work for two iPhones? It seems like you can switch only if one is an iPhone and the other is an android phone, is that true?
I’m under the impression that if auto connect is turned on it won’t provide the menu to choose which phone I want to connect to. Auto connect bypasses the multi phone menu and connects only to the last used phone. Is this correct? If my spouse and I both have iPhones and want the menu to choose which drivers phone to connect to what do we have to do?
I am unable to select next song via the steering wheel switch . Each time using the car display to change songs . Is there any option or need to change any setting?
Those systems work great until you are away from cellular service for a long time. We ran out of maps in Yellowstone National Park in our Kia Sportage because there was no built in navigation system and there’s nothing stored in Android or Apple phones
Great video - was looking for something like this. I have an EV6 myself, I think I will pickup this unit. Do you know if the I5 can support a USB HUB (i.e. 2-to-1) plugged into the USB Data port on the car? Looking to have both a USB thumb drive for my music plugged in at the same time as say this unit? This way I don't have to keep switching (not a fan of running audio off my phone). Curious.
@@EverydayReviews2022 The audio should come through the car when you are not driving and watching the RUclips video…. Waiting for the wifey to finish the shopping!?
Will it make Android Auto work better, because Android Auto is extremely buggy, it has too many issues wrong with it, like for example, it crashes at times, it fades to black screen too often and sometimes it will disconnect out of nowhere and I still think Android Auto is horrible.
Does not work with a 2022 GMC Canyon. I worked for 2 weeks with customer service. 1 email a day and no help. If you choose to return it they will charge you $35 restocking fee, plus you pay shipping. So you would get back $15 maybe. Save your money!
I’m sure if your CarPlay or Android would display it you could. I know for Apple you need to jailbreak your phone to be able to have RUclips or Netflix viewable on Apple CarPlay. I can’t test as my phone isn’t jaikbroken and I don’t have an Android. I’ll try and find someone that has an Android and try it.
Please DON'T buy this item. Total waste of your money. The display resolution of your factory OEM CarPlay or Android Auto will be much less than the OEM. Also, the unit gets very high temperatures which is quite dangerous for having it in any glove box. Better stay away from the OTTOCAST company that does not follow their returns policy. They are just losers.

Just got mine for my wife’s Kia Soul and it works perfectly. Thanks
Purchased! It’s going to make a perfect birthday gift for my wife. Thank you, EDR Family.

Can you add more than one phone on the Carlinkit? So nice to be wireless isn’t it?

Great review and great editing on the video . Very informational and answered my questions.
For Android Auto, I use the Aawireless adapter. Only $89.00. Works perfectly.
Crazy I paid with shipping that much for what's being reviewed.👍
So amazing device! Wow! Thanks for sharing. Perfect for my 2019 Q5. Just had enough to connect a cable! Black Friday is coming soon!

Thanks for a great video. What doesn’t become clear is: does it also work for two iPhones? It seems like you can switch only if one is an iPhone and the other is an android phone, is that true?
Doesn’t matter. Can use 2 iPhones which is what we do.

Do you know any devices that will run CarPlay on an older car? My 2013 Ford has Sync 2. Thanks.
I am unable to select next song via the steering wheel switch . Each time using the car display to change songs . Is there any option or need to change any setting?
Before using wireless would you be able to do the same on your steering wheel with your phone wired to it? All functions should be the same.

You can preload portions of maps on Google maps for areas without coverage.
@@EverydayReviews2022 That is awesome! Thank you so much, it will come in handy the next time that I do to the mountains!
I've read some really bad reviews on this product. How has it held up in your opinion?

Hmmm good question. Somehow I don’t think so however I don’t have a gun to try it.
Queen Cynthia and Chowtime! 😊 🏆
nice device. did you experience any audio delay/sync issue when watching RUclips video?
I didn’t watch any RUclips videos. For iPhones you need to jailbreak it I believe to be able to have RUclips or Netflix on your CarPlay.
@@EverydayReviews2022 The audio should come through the car when you are not driving and watching the RUclips video…. Waiting for the wifey to finish the shopping!?
Does it pass the car gps to the phone or rely on the phone gps.
Thanks for sharing Bro
Will it work with xiaomi phones?
Does it support Android auto? If so then yes.

That I can’t answer as I don’t have an Android phone to test. It’s possible it could be your phone though.
Can you use the steering wheel controls (volume, track....) with these dongles?
I am finding difficulty to change the track . Volume adjustment is working perfectly .
Yes you can .
Will it work for a2014 bmw520d
You might want to email them and ask. According to their site it just says BMW. They’re customer service is super responsive

Does it not work at all?
@@EverydayReviews2022 nope not at all on this vehicle. And they have no idea how to make it work. Just not compatible.
Does it work with 2023 Kia Sportage SX Prestige hybrid?
For sure it should work. Same system as Hyundai or Genesis which I’ve used it with.
Surely manufacturers will send out updates for wireless CarPlay. I thought it was just a licensing issue, not a hardware issue.
I think it’s actually hardware as on some vehicles a certain sized screen will have wireless while the other will not.
Can you please share the link to buy the product
Yes the link is in the video description. Let me know if you can’t find it.
Can you watch RUclips or hbomax?
