    Guys i've a generic question about valves production: when a valve requires o-rings, lip seals or other seals in specific areas of the valve (like on the seat rings or between two parts in order to prevent leakage) are they usually engineered by the same manufacturer that engineers the valve parts or by others?
    Then, if the seals are engineered by others(that i think happens in the majority of the cases) do the real manufacturers of the valve re-make the FEA about the body parts plus the seals to check the entire integrity of the valves in static/dynamic/fatigue analysis? What is the real work flow?

      It depends on manufacturer, they usually do testing from parts provider and ask to do combine FEA for any other service provider. It depends on the Manufacturer.

      @@graspengineering9249 Sorry i don't think i've understood your reply. I mean: imagine a valve manufacturer that designs parts (that are not designed using normatives) like seats, shutters or bonnets that usually are in contact with seals and that than they have to verify them (stresses & deformations) with FEA.
      Do they do a FEA of the complex assembly in which they simulate those seals or do they use some semplifications in order to not consider them?
      I've found some studies online with complex assemblies but in none of them is specified what they do with seals, if they actually simulate them or not.
      (If necessary i can link you those studies by message, i don't know if i can put the links in a youtube comment.)

      A butterfly valve, nominal bore 500 mm, body and Disc materials Stainless steel UNS32500 , same material for shaft, Internal body test pressure is 1 MPa, Disc test pressure 1.5 MPa.
