ARMY is a fortunate fandom. The Korean and the International fandoms actually like one another for the most part. So, many K-Diamonds will basically teach the international fans the Korean specific significance of many of BTS lyrics. BTS are unapologetically Korean and we as international fans are eager to learn about Korea because BTS loves their country so much. Also, loving BTS means you have to be committed to reading and learning because they don't 'dumb down' their lyrics. BTS expects you to do your research.
Anyway, most of us know about gwanju democracy movement history even not really detail know about it. Because it's mentioned in ma city lyrics so we make a research about the number meaning, beside K-army also help us to explain about the history generally. Yoongi (Suga) also made a song about the movement when he still in underground rapper with his crew called D-town (Yoongi stage name at that time is Gloss). He make a song called "518-062" as tribute n to remind about Gwanju democratization movement. Maybe u should check the song out (yoongi didnt sing the song, he only produce n compose the song)
Them: it's seem that they are proud of their hometown Yoongi: there is nothing to be proud about Daegu, My birth is Daegu pride. If Yoongi says so, then it is.
I watched a reactor from Daegu react to this and she agreed she can't think of anything to be proud of about Daegu 😂 But Daegu is famous now because of Yoongi. Its just like my hometown here in the Philippines, when foreigners or people from other region whats good in my hometown I can't think of anything to brag about. Its not that I'm not proud, there are just towns that are just regular towns like mine. 🤣
you'd be surprised a lot of us foreigners do get the significance/meaning of the things BTS put in their songs, mostly because we have to look up translations of the songs and if there's something i'm not sure of i do a google search, also there are many ARMYs that have done not just translation but explanations of certain aspects of their songs. Before getting into BTS i'm ashamed to say i really new nothing about S.Korea, here in America most of the news we got was about N.Korea, but since getting into BTS I've learned so much about Korean culture and history and it really is a testament to their song lyrics. The things they talk about make me want to research those topics and learn more.
10:06 This is one reason I like to watch reaction videos from channels like yours or watch explanation videos by Koreans. You help me to understand details in your culture that I can't read in a book & pick up on details I don't know are important enough to research. I get a deeper appreciation of BTS as musicians/performers/entertainers, but also of who they are in character. Things like this song show me how much pride they have in their culture and heritage, and it makes me prefer them singing in Korean, even if I will lose details in translation. [Only because you asked: I'm 48 from the mountains of the northeastern US. I live in a small town in northwest corner of Massachusetts, close to the border of 2 other states, Vermont and New York, about 3 hours west of Boston. I live at the base of the tallest mountain in my state, in the birthplace of one of the leaders of the women's suffrage movement, Susan B. Anthony. Nearby, besides a wealth of nature delights, museums, and historical engineering marvels relating to the construction of a train tunnel through the mountains, we also boast of stops along the "Underground Railroad" that led people out of slavery to freedom in Canada. I could go on & on about my town & the area around it. I find the history fascinating. I love to talk about it.] Thanks for your channel, your comments, and for English subtitles! I really enjoy watching you both!💜💜
I am from St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I empathize with Suga and V because where I am from is not seen as a calm safe place to be because of crime and unrest that has happened in the past. But my city shaped me as much as my grandparents and parents and I love the feel of it and the feel I have when I am there.
I'm a female fan in my 40s, so I'll always raise my hands during that "아줌마" line! 💜 💜 💜 💜 I'm an American, originally from Chicago though I live near Washington DC now. I feel this song deeply as I'm still very attached to my home town. 💜
@@zzang_a4071 아.
Hello, i am 20yo Male American ARMY i hope that you continue to react to BTS with a positive mindset. it is very nice and helpful to see reactions from real Koreans it helps give me insight into some of the deeper lyrics/meanings Thank You for the content i liked and subscribed! Also since there is a lot of K-ARMY here as well thank you guys for being the foundation of BTS before they were worldwide stars without you guys we international fans would never of gotten to know Bangtan Sonyeondan and Korean Culture/History. 💜💜💜
Aww so cute when u both put ur hands up and jung kook sings with jimin since hes from Busan too and jin doesnt have much part buts hes from Seoul area and V sings with suga cuz hes from the Daegu area
I am a 34 ARMY with no specific hometown as I grew up moving around. Home is fluid and I think I am still searching for my "hometown". Reading all of these comments about your pride in your hometown/state/province/ city/country makes me yearn to be able to find my own pace. Thank you for a wonderful reaction. I agree with others here that part of the joy of being ARMY is being curious about Korean history, culture, society (not to mention world literature and art, psychology, mythology, economics and more) through their lyrics.
I have been a fan for a while and always enjoy your videos! I'm a 64 year old ARMY who shares my love for BTS with my daughter. We were just saying yesterday that we wished they would sing their older songs at their concerts! We both especially like Ma City, Tomorrow, and We are Bulletproof pt. 2! We are from California, I live in the Monterey Bay area and she lives a little further north. I think she's starting to watch you channel now too! Thank you so much for your reactions!
I'm from Denver, Colorado. The Mile High City! We're at the base of the Rocky mountains so we love skiing, hiking, mountain biking and all sorts of outdoor sports. 😍 Love watching you guys!
Jungkook and Jimin are from Busan. Taehyung and Yoongi are from Daegu.(Taehyung grew up in Geochang) Namjoon is from Ilsan Hoseok is form Gwangju Seokjin is from Gwacheon also, hahah there might be a possibility that BTS have seen your reactions. They have mentioned themselves that they enjoy watching reactions to their songs and videos on youtube before ahhaha
See, this is how this great big world gets smaller 💜 We learn from each other and it's awesome! BTS knows that we, as fans, will educate ourselves, interact, and learn from each other. 💜
I'm a 28 ears old A.R.M.Y. from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, an island in the Caribbean Sea. The biggest of the Minor Antilles, and the smallest of the Major Antilles, with a long and rich history, full of talent, culture and pride. Loving all your videos and your input as Korean yourselves. Really appreciate you sirs loving our Bangtan Boys.
Yay! You’re back!! You both are so cute when you raise your hands as ahjussis! I agree that the sentiments and feelings of this song is like old men/women reminiscing and bragging about their hometowns. Who would ever think an idol or even western pop group writing a song like this? I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and have lived here 3/4 of my life. I lived in Los Angeles for about 10 years for college and right after. As much as I miss LA, I am glad I moved back right next to my hometown (in the suburbs of SF). It’s boring but the Bay Area has so many climates, good food, and is relaxed and just hippy enough and the center of technology. (Or so we claim!) California weather is the best and I could never leave - even though it is super expensive to live here. Thanks again for your reaction! Off to watch your mukbang!
@@HnKnTV You're welcome! I think you would really like Baepsae, too! I'm always very interested in your social commentary (especially as a fellow older ARMY) and that song and Spinebreaker are definitely social commentary. (I think mostly classicism and materialism.) Maybe even Go Go, too! Thank you, again! I know it takes so much time to add subtitles, edit, and film. :)
hello! i'm 21 years old and i'm from a small city near san francisco, california. for the last 3 years i've been at university 6 hours away from home in a city closer to los angeles. being away from home is hard for me because i rarely get to go home so listening to bts gives me a lot of strength :) also, many international armys look up the meanings to bts' lyrics and messages so we're pretty aware of the significance thanks to help from korean armys :') thanks for your cute and insightful reaction 💜
I am from a city called Appleton, right between the cities of Oshkosh and Green Bay in Wisconsin, USA. I have intense pride growing up in my city and really, in my home state of Wisconsin. Its just in your blood and other places just don't measure up in a lot of ways compared to my city and state. I now live in Michigan(moved here for my husband who is a Michigan native, also known as Michiganders) and miss Wisconsin dearly. I'll always be an Appletonian and Wisconsinite at heart! I love to talk about Wisconsin and tell facts or info about it or answer questions people may have about going on vacation there or whatever. You may leave your hometown or state/province/area, but it never leaves your heart. It has shaped you and is always a special place to you. Another great video, guys! Thank you!
💜 your reactions! I'm a 63 yr old ARMY from the US, living in the state of Utah. BTS is a once in a lifetime experience and it has been an amazing journey 🤗
Hello I'm a 51 yr old Army from Australia, NSW, Port Stephens. THANK YOU for your reactions, a different perspective is always interesting, these boys seem to be older than their actual years sometimes. They make me think and feel, life is more interesting since I found them.
I love this song so much! I especially like how BTS is always teaching us foreigners something with about their country in their music. I had no idea that 5:18 was a reference for a fight for democracy until I heard of this song and was informed about all the hidden significance it had. This was back in 2017 for me, when I first heard of it. I'm originally from a small town in Mexico and I can definitely identify and connect with this song so much. I love the place that I grew up in. That saw me be a reckless child riding my bike in the rain through potholes. Anyway. I enjoy your reactions a lot and being a 40-something myself, it's good to see you all talk about how BTS is not your typical idol because they are not. They are multidimensional and concise in their lyrics. I believe the word you use is Han...there's plenty to be sentimental about in BTS discography. Glad you found them and like them so much. They deserve all the praise and honor that Korea can give them. I'm not their mother and I am beyond proud of them myself.
The great thing about their stage performances is their energy and interaction with the crowd. They can mesmerize and engage an audience even just sitting in a line of chairs. Obviously their dances are phenomenal, but it's frosting on the cake. Seeing recordings of their live performances is impressive, but actually being there is indescribable. They have something very rare.
I'm proudly from the state of New Hampshire in the USA! I always enjoy your reactions. Thank you for the English subtitles! I always like to see what Koreans think of BTS and their lyrics 😊💜
BTS makes their fans research about Korean history and culture. 💜 I love that their lyrics have so much depth. I left Korea as a child and grew up in the states. It seems that the older I get, I think about my old hometown more. I cried when I heard this song for the first time. But it’s a great song to listen to on road trips. 😂
blue blood means royalty blood i think Suga referring to his bloodline ancestors, as far as i know his clan is "Yeoheung Min clan". and Yeoheung Min clan ancestors are Queen Wongyeong ( King Sejong the Great's mother). he's flexin' LOL or he's referring to daegu's baseball team official color
Ma City is one of my favorite BTS Song. I also felt proud of their roots even when I'm from a different country. The way how they portrait their places is just so wonderful. They didn't forget about it. I want you to react to their hidden truck "Sea" it's the song about their beginning and struggles. Every time I here this song it's always makes my heart breaks. Btw, thank you so much for this reaction. I hope you can post reaction even once or twice a week.
Hello! I’m a 32 year old American who now lives in New York City, but I’m originally from the state of Ohio. It was so cute when you both raised your hands 🙌 And songs like this one are one of the many reasons I love BTS. They expose me to new things about Korea that I wouldn’t normally know as a foreigner!
I'm from Texas! When people ask where we're from, Americans always say which state. Texas is about 7x larger than Korea, but we have less than half of your population.
As someone from Massachusetts who lived in Texas for some years, I can assure everyone Texas *is* different! Everything is big in Texas 😆! It really is such a unique place it's like visiting a foreign country in some ways 😂😂 Nice people as a general rule 💜
i smiled and laughed so much every time you guys put your hands up when they asked you to. so cute. wonderful reaction. i guess in korea i would be considered an auntie so i put my hands up too. to answer your question i'm from brooklyn new york in the US
I'm 32 yrs old and I've been their fan since feb 2018. Like you said, BTS are certainly different, they made me think again what I've realized and ignored before and they made me face my reality insted of ignoring it over and over again. I want to brag about my city but there's nothing to brag about, instead I want to say come to my country, people here are friendly and always have smiles on their faces,. Saying "Its more fun in the Philippines" is accurate. Just prepare yourself for the heat and traffic!😊✌
Hello! I've just discovered your channel, and I love your reactions. They are insightful, and it's cool to see Korean standpoints and interpretations of BTS songs especially songs like this one, Baepsae, and Satoori Rap. Sending support from Washington DC, United States😊
Hi 43y old Dutch (The Netherlands) ARMY here👋🏻 International ARMY is used to doing lyrical research and many Korean ARMY is willing to explain and provide context and history. BTS lyrics are often very deep and have multiple meaning. Genius! Same goes for their music video's.
Hello, uncles! Thank you for kindly reacting to this song. I am new ARMY, and I only heard this song once before. I live in my hometown, San Antonio Texas USA. I have traveled around the world, but I love my city. I love the history, many diverse cultures and friendly people. We have almost 2 million people in San Antonio, but we say it is like a small town due to friendliness. Also, San Antonio is the sister city of Gwangju!
Since you're asking about hometowns; I'm from Powell River, British Columbia, Canada. I am proud of where I'm from. BC is the most beautiful province of Canada in my opinion XP Last night we got hit with a major power outage though, for a little over two hours... Most if not all of BC was affected. Also something I'm proud of: I'm a December baby! (five years older than Taehyung! and almost though not quite two years older than Jin!)
Ahh I live in Curitiba, a city in southern Brazil. Our city is known for being very clean and very green. We have lots of beautiful parks, and one of the better public transportation systems in our country (even though we don’t have subways/metros) because of some city planning they did in the 80’s and 90s. It’s been awarded the titles of greenest city a few times internationally too! It’s people are kinda known to be kinda stand-off-ish though, but we are really nice once we warm up to a person! Also.... we have a lot of shopping malls. Like so many. And so huge and pretty.
My hometown is Petoskey. It's in the United States in the state of Michigan (a pair of peninsulas surrounded by the Great Lakes). My little hometown is in a tiny bay and it has sunsets that look like they are fake. People come from all around to paint them. Petoskey and the towns around it (especially Walloon Lake) are most known because author Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote here for a good portion of his life.
Hands up😄 So cute May be they watch your video becoz now they are on vacation and jimin especially said he gonna watch reaction videos. But really so cute that hands up. They really proud of their hometown and also their hometown is proud of them too. Now their hometown started holding special events for bts birthday or some other special day. My introduction : I'm from india - kerala ( gods own country). And my name is Jennie and I'm 22 years old.
Glad you liked the song! Since you asked, I'm 26 yo, from Brazil! I live in Salvador, we have a huge coast line with sandy beaches and one of the biggest street carnivals in the world 😊
ARMY is a fortunate fandom.
Maybe u should check the song out (yoongi didnt sing the song, he only produce n compose the song)
miyu ryuu, thank so much that your effort to know 518.

Hello! I’m a 59 year old ARMY from Houston, Texas... and I really enjoy watching you two young people react to the best group on earth!💜
Them: it's seem that they are proud of their hometown
Yoongi: there is nothing to be proud about Daegu, My birth is Daegu pride.
If Yoongi says so, then it is.
Savage

I love to talk about it.]

I am from St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I empathize with Suga and V because where I am from is not seen as a calm safe place to be because of crime and unrest that has happened in the past. But my city shaped me as much as my grandparents and parents and I love the feel of it and the feel I have when I am there.

As we said in Reaction, thank you for introducing us to your Ma city.

I personally like this concert. They clearly are having fun. It doesn't have always to be a dance :D
I love this song so much. I’m moving to South Korea and very much looking forward to visiting these and other cities.
I recently learned about the Gwangju uprising and democracy movement in a Korean Culture class. Very tragic. Those people were so brave.

I'm proudly from the state of New Hampshire in the USA! I always enjoy your reactions. Thank you for the English subtitles! I always like to see what Koreans think of BTS and their lyrics 😊💜
Ma city and paldogangsan are some of my favourite songs. Thank you for reacting to these old gems. I look forward to more videos 👏
blue blood means royalty blood
i think Suga referring to his bloodline ancestors, as far as i know his clan is "Yeoheung Min clan". and Yeoheung Min clan ancestors are Queen Wongyeong ( King Sejong the Great's mother). he's flexin' LOL
or he's referring to daegu's baseball team official color
Ma city
thank you for reacting even when there are so many bugs! the hand raising was too cute seriously.
It really is such a unique place it's like visiting a foreign country in some ways 😂😂 Nice people as a general rule 💜
i smiled and laughed so much every time you guys put your hands up when they asked you to. so cute. wonderful reaction. i guess in korea i would be considered an auntie so i put my hands up too. to answer your question i'm from brooklyn new york in the US
this is so cute thank you for reacting to bts!!! so nice to see a korean reaction
As an international army I Love this song 💜 you can just feel their pride of where they come from big Respect 🫡.. Ur reactions where cute & fun 😊
I loved your reaction!!
Lots of love from Germany!💜🙏🇩🇪🇩🇪
Hello! I've just discovered your channel, and I love your reactions. They are insightful, and it's cool to see Korean standpoints and interpretations of BTS songs especially songs like this one, Baepsae, and Satoori Rap. Sending support from Washington DC, United States😊
Hi 43y old Dutch (The Netherlands) ARMY here👋🏻
International ARMY is used to doing lyrical research and many Korean ARMY is willing to explain and provide context and history.
Such a pretty place 💜
Hello! i´m 22 years old, ARMY 💜 from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
if i korean, i must be proud...
Hands up😄
So cute
May be they watch your video becoz now they are on vacation and jimin especially said he gonna watch reaction videos.
But really so cute that hands up.
They really proud of their hometown and also their hometown is proud of them too. Now their hometown started holding special events for bts birthday or some other special day.
My introduction : I'm from india - kerala ( gods own country). And my name is Jennie and I'm 22 years old.
finally ma city is sooooooooo gooooooooood
Blue blood means royalty 😊 I enjoyed every sec THANK YOU!!💕
Glad you liked the song! Since you asked, I'm 26 yo, from Brazil! I live in Salvador, we have a huge coast line with sandy beaches and one of the biggest street carnivals in the world 😊
finally ma city.. dont worry i raised my hands up too when they call aunties 😂😂😂
I really hope Bangtan is watching.
