- For years I've heard people refer to the dutch oven as a staple in their kitchen. I never quite got it, but lock-down has made me re-evaluate my cooking style, and look for ways to enhance the at home dining experience.
After months of going back and forth between Le Creuset and Staub, I finally took the plunge and got the piece that really spoke to me - a 24cm, 3,8L Staub round cocotte in Basil. This size made the most sense for my cooktop and this colour stole my heart when I saw it in person.
If you'd like to get one too, here's a link to shop this exact cocotte as well as the other colours:

Welcome to the Staub club! Great color choice. Think I need to add Basil to my collection. May I suggest making a small roast chicken and a nice loaf of No-Knead Bread to get you started cooking? Both will be superb! And don't be surprised to find you might *NEED an additional pot soon...so Ms. Basil won't be lonely of course! 😉 Happy cooking!
So far I've made chicken thigs and ratatouille. Bread and a whole chicken are high up on the list of things to try! Thanks for the recommendations 😊
OMG !!! Congratulation ! You will LOVE this Staub ! Bon Appetit !
What a beautiful piece of equipment! I recently got one myself, and I'm all jazzed about what I might cook in it. So far, just a loaf of bread.
Sam, I challenge you to cook in it for a week or 10 days in a row. Ditch your oven and every other pot or pan and just see for yourself how you can do anything in the kitchen with your Staub. I did that and it helped me get comfortable using that expensive piece of equipment - because at the end of the day it's a piece of equipment - and, moreover, it showed me what potential it has.
Love my basil set of staub 3 dutch ovens and 2 fry pans a joy every meal!!!
ok so I just got my staub coccotte in la mer...from W and S and there is no staub ribbon...I'm so disappointed . It sounds very shallow but I,ve been waiting so long :( :( does this mean it's fake ?? the packaging should have had the ribbbon
Very nice! I purchased a 5.5 size, also was going back and forth between Staub and Le Creuset, hopefully I made the right choice
Are you happy with your Staub? In my opinion it is superior to Le Creuset in function
@@octopus8420 Yes I am pleased with my Staub, ATC rated Le Creuset #1, but Staub is built like a tank imho. 229.00 from cutlery & more. The dark interior will never stain which may happen with Le Creuset
Great unboxing. I just ordered a 4 quart turquoise colored one. Will eventually get a 7 quart one when I can afford it, after all my holiday shopping. But for now 4 quart is enough for me and my fianceè. Seems like a good size for bread, roast chicken, stews and curries. Can't wait to get it!
Hi from Arizona 🙋🏻♀️
I ❤️❤️ the basil 🌿 color... I’m also waiting for the best discount for my cocotte!
Awesome pot! But here in the USA the 4qt pot sells for $99 even in basil (which is a really awesome color)!
I own the same pot! Love it love it love it! Congrats looks awesome!
Wow, 99USD (plus tax I assume) is an incredible price! Zero excuse to not get one!
$99is the holiday sale, normally the 4qt is much more!
@@orattik yes plus tax, in our case that became $107.8 :o)
@@Jen281 Online at Williams-Sonoma.com and sometimes you can use a coupon as well, at the time it was 4xtblw38c6y but may be expired now. Sometimes the same code comes back. Love the Staub products, and recently purchased a baguette baker by “Emile Henry” from France they have awesome quality ceramics. The baguette baker is amazing!
How the pot now? What cool things have you cooked in it?
It's like new, which doesn't mean I haven't been using it! I've made bread in it once which was semi-successful, but the recipe could be refined. I mostly used it for stews and browning meat.
I found the Basil Green 7-qt for $199.99 new. The 5 1/2 size are $169.99. I ended up getting the 7-qt.
thats a nice color, I cant decide what color to get lol
When in doubt - black goes with pretty much everything ;). I was going to get the black originally. It's the only one that has a gold knob and I think that's a really chic combo. It's also the colour mainly used in restaurants, so it would feel quite special to think you're using the same kind of pot they do at Paul Bocuse's kitchen. However, in person, the black looked a bit too utilitarian, a bit too similar to plain cast iron. The glazed ones just pull on your heart strings!
❤❤❤
The worlds most expensive ribbon!😂🤣😂🤣
Do some cooking recipes in it
Do u have adult braces? Cute.
