Hi from ireland, I enjoyed watching you try out our treats. The only thing I would say is I've never heard of crisp sandwiches being served at a party in ireland. That would be a no no lol.

I would recommend Irish Pride Big Toast bread for the Tayto sandwiches, it's a chunkier bread that tastes just as good and goes better with the crisps (of which you used too many, in my opinion). But damn, my mouth was watering the entire time you were trying it! Glad you liked them :)
Little fun fact about the Keogh’s crisp brand…. the story goes that the Keogh potato-growing family wanted to export their spuds to the U.S.A. but apparently were precluded from doing so by some import controls Stateside. Basically, they were told they could only export processed potatoes! The family set up production of crisps/chips on the farm as a result of the impasse. The happy outcome is the foundation of a whole new business. I don’t know if they ever got around to exporting them the States, but the domestic market certainly has taken them to its heart…. we love them!
Of all the ice-creams available, pretty much the last on my list would be Brunch! The crisp sandwich is a raid the kitchen type of sandwich, not something you do for posh! Good though.
3 Euro 90, just came back in June. I met a young lady whose grandfather lived in the house next to Ross Castle. I found I was NOT a fan of Black and White Pudding. I tried, I really gave it an honest effort, trying different hotels for about 16 days. I tried round, square, in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Tralee, Killarney, Inis, Dingle and Galway.
The Coconut Creams and Mikado are part of range of three types of "biscuit". The third part of this trilogy is Kimberley. A sugar-coated marshmallow between two soft mild ginger biscuits. They're not bad ☺️ Imagine... Someone had the audacity to smother these in chocolate! What a ridiculous idea! Who would possibly like mallow ginger biscuits covered in chocolate? 😯 I do, and many others do as well 😊
I'm a bit late to the party but there are better versions of the crisp sandwich available. I'd recommend a sharp cheddar cheese with salt & vinegar flavoured crisps. It's essential to have any crisp sandwich on sliced white bread with butter on though. It's just not the same with brown bread.
It's €uro and cent in Ireland. The singular and plural of both is €uro and cent. So you would say three euro ninety cent or three euro ninety. Those smaller bags of crisps are considered regular sized. The bigger ones would be considered sharing packs.
Club Rock Shandy is best, a mix of both orange and lemon. You can buy it premixed but many pubs make it simply by pouring together one of each of the smaller bottles.
We are very proud of our crisps, tayto crisps have a Theme park in county meath that attracts over a million visitors a year mostly irish visitors of course. The first flavoured crisp/chip was invented by an irish man called thomas spud murphy though there is some debate of whether it is true or not .
Canada changed to metric just after I graduated from high school so I can relate to the challenges you face. Temperatures and speeds are easier but weights and volume take longer. You probably noticed but Canada is confusing to both Americans and Europeans as sometimes people are talking imperial and then flip to metric measurements. Then to top it off the Canadian gallon is different than the American gallon. Throw in a currency exchange rate and surrender...but a minute is still a minute and an hour is still an hour!!!
Gordo Its actually quite similar in ireland, the road signage is in kilometers ,but if we are going somewhere we say miles, we order pint of beer not a half litre and when we say our weight we measure that in stones and pounds not kilograms.Young people probably would think entirely in metric ,but the older generation like myself still think in imperial.

Of course crisp sandwiches are eaten in Ireland. They are a favourite. Wedding guests would add crisps to whatever sandwich is on offer. You made one mistake though. The best crisps to use are tayto original cheese and onion. No need to change perfection.
:) We did our research... those were the Tayto cheese and onion crips in our crisp sandwiches... and my mouth is watering thinking about them right now!
If you ever come back to Canada, we have some great sausage rolls. The Brunch Bar looks like the Strawberry Shortcake bars that we have in North America.
HP Sauce is a must for sausage rolls. They are eaten alone as a snack, not as part of breakfast. As far as biscuits are concerned: McVities all the way! Ginger Snaps, Ginger Nuts, Chocolate Digestives. Not Irish but sooooo delicious. Also, the ultimate chip sandwich needs a slice if ham and some Irish cheddar, too.
That was a great collection of the snacks I've been recommended to try (especially the crisps and crisp sandwich) on my coming trip. I'll have to be on the lookout for the Red TK and add that to my list. Is there anything not listed in this post that you guys tried in your travels that is a must try?

The crisp sandwich definitely qualifies as a SINK sandwich to be eaten only while standing over the kitchen sink because of the crisp crumbs that go everywhere after each bite. It's even better spiced up with cheese and raw slices of red union.

Tayto didn't invent crisps but they did innovate with flavours. They were the first to make crisps such as Cheese and Onion that were pre-seasoned. Before then crisps would be plain and the bag included small packets of seasoning (usually salt) you would need to add yourself.
Nothing beats Tayto cheese and onion crisps on buttered bread.
