Our friends in the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet are releasing a new CD on April 8, entitled “Opalescent”. Dedicated to the memory of Australian composer Phillip Houghton, it features his piece “Opals”, as well as works by Tilman Hoppstock, Robert Beaser, Kevin Callahan, Frederic Hand, and Michael Hedges. It opens with “Hidden Realm of Light” by former LAGQ member Andrew York. Here’s an exclusive video of LAGQ recording it at USC’s Cammilleri Hall, filmed by GSI’s own Felix Salazar.

Wonderful tribute, but note how it takes the four men of LAGQ to emulate the work of The One Michael Hedges. ;-)
I kid, I kid. I'm a huge LAGQ fan and have been for over twenty years. You guys are terrific!
Fantastic arrangement. Bravo! VERY interesting take on an other-worldly piece of music. MH would love it.
Absolutely beautiful, and a wonderful song to honor. Loved listening to this
I can't imagine a better piece to arrange.
Thanks LAGQ for shining light on the GOAT, Michael Hedges. Miss him still…..
Great !
It is a performance that does not spoil the original song.
Just listened to the original otw home from work today! This is great.
This is terrific!
Fantástico, simplemente fantástico !!!!
Awesome rendition! Bravo! 👏
Yeah!
Not what I was expecting but very very cool.
Bravo!
Good!
I think Michael would have dug this. He always wanted to recognized more for his composition that his playing.
Superbe 👏
It's interesting to note that even the LAGQ have very little to contribute to this composition. It really doesn't benefit by deconstruction into parts. I enjoyed the interpretive section that finally started around 350, because its not trying for accuracy.
