As a kid growing up I always knew that I wasn't 'normal' from a very young age - I liked boys & I liked girls the same, but people sort of always looked down on that (thankfully neither of my parents). I repressed the side of me that looked at girls or anyone who didn't typically fit into "male". I admired & had crushes on cross-dressers when everyone made fun of them and I always felt weird, and I was made to feel like something was wrong me or I was perverted in some way. When Jack came on to Doctor Who and he flirted with anyone and anything he liked, it really helped me in ways I can't really describe. I didn't feel so weird. I thought "hey, he's like me!", and everyone treated him like a normal person. I don't think he ever got enough applause for what he brought in terms of representation, and he was actually a big inspiration in encouraging me to accept and learn about my own sexuality. I came out as bisexual to my class when I was 15, and now I consider myself pansexual. He will always be an overlooked LGBT icon, and I'm forever thankful for him because at the time there was no one else I could relate to.

Yes!!!!! He is the king of being pan, I had the same experience seeing him and going "oh, he makes it look normal!" He's just so confident, he doesn't go around trying to explain himself. He was my example of shamelessness.

I could watch that "Face of Bo" moment forever, it's simply wonderful. Captain Jack was such a fabulous character (love John too, hope he recovers from his neck injury) and with David Tennant's Doctor, Rose and Martha, the series was an absolute joy.

Even now I continue to be reminded that Miracle day was a Mistake. At least it kept the whole face of boe thing ambiguous tho, the planned reveal of him getting his head cut off and then becoming it never really made sense seeing as he can regrow his body from a head and arm. Plus i prefer the idea that Jack just kept going rather than just sorta dying at one specific point in time for some reason.
I just love that Jack running for the TARDIS is how season 1 of Torchwood ends, so it's all connected
