  • This is the first video in the three part series for making a large gumpaste rose.
    In this video, you'll learn how to make a beautiful and realistic large gumpaste rose. We'll start from the very beginning including the unconventional way I like to make the rose bud. We'll continue on with cutting out the petals, shaping them and veining them, then attaching them to the rose.

    The best, so realistic rose I have ever seen in sugar paste! Thank you so much for showing us how to make them. I can't guarantee I'll achieve the same beauty, but I will certainly try!

      Excellent! I really think the trick is the height of the petals. Keeping them at about the same height or higher really helps it look less like a cabbage and more like a real rose. Glad this helped! Oh and way down here in Texas, we're having a cloudy day as well. 😉

    How can you explain SO well the position-height of EACH layer of petals? Wonderful! You are incredibly precise! Congratulations! My question: If we use the one- side veiner, where the veined-side of the petal should go, facing up or down? Thank you in advance and my compliments again for everything.

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  6 лет назад

      Thanks so much for the compliment! 😊 You ask a very good question. Here's what I did when I used a one sided veiner. For the inside petals of the rose, I would put the veined side on the outside since that's what you'll see the most of. Then for the outer petals, the veined side is facing inward since you'll see more of the inside of those petals. I hope that makes sense!

    Such beautiful work. I am going to make these for a sweet sixteen cake for April 7 and I wanted to do 3 different sizes. I will make the large on in the video and I need to make medium and small. I was wondering if you have the petal count for those two.
    I purchased small Styrofoam balls for the medium and small ones. Thank you in advance if you can help me. Love the beauty of this rose, just gorgeous.

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  6 лет назад

      Beth Stophel Thanks Beth! For the smaller ones, I would actually use about the same petal count but go with the smaller petal cutters in the set. I also wouldn't do as many layers of petals.
      Making some that only have the first layer or two of petals will make them look like buds and smaller roses and then you'll have some variation.
      I hope all that made sense. Just let me know if I need to clarify it. 😉

    • @bethstophel8344
      @bethstophel8344 6 лет назад

      Thank you! I was going to do just what you suggested, but wanted to clarify. This was so easy to make and the first one did look a bit like a cabbage but the second one turned out beautiful. Thank you so much for this easy and fast way to make roses.

      Hi there, I don't usually make my own gumpaste. I like to just buy mine premade. I've used Wilton and Satin Ice brands before and they work well. You can get those at Michaels or Hobby Lobby craft stores or perhaps other craft stores and they're also available on Amazon.

    What size of Styrofoam are you really using for this tutorial? I just order the one you post, but yours looks more way bigger then the one you post. Is that a 2"?

    • @IScreamforButtercream
      @IScreamforButtercream  6 лет назад +1

      Hi there, I just went into my craft room and actually measured them. It's actually a 1 1/2 inch ball. I think I said 1 inch on the video. I thought I had measured them before adding that link on the post, but may have measured a different one. I use them in all sizes...you can still make the roses with the 1" ball. The petals will fit a little closer together, but it will still look pretty.
