Hey, all. I'm the DM for this campaign, the Maelstrom Mercenary Guild. We've been running this world for nearly two years, and I have all sorts of stories of the party's shenanigans. If you want more stories about these idiots, lemme know! Perhaps I'll tell you how Solidus fired himself through the rectum of a glass dragon.
Redneckromancer: "Aye, boy. Wanna try some of my bonemeal moonshine here? It has a nasty kick!" Player: "Sure." DM: "Roll a dexterity check with disadvantage."
I’m mid watching, but damn, this guy knows about karsus. I recommend watching MrRhexx’s video about 10th level and higher spells. It’s a great watch, and he explains karsus and the event karsus’s folly, which literally all but re-set civilization on Erebus. And is the reason wizards can’t cast spells about 9th level today.
Yes, Mr. Rhexx was where I got most of the info on Karsus from. I did weeks of research and learned that I could tie him in as a Great Old One. And I just HAPPENED to have a Pact of the Great Old One Warlock in the party. Things lined up perfectly.
Using the soul of a being who was once a god to power a Phlactery? Heck I would have made that dude a demi god of death and have the actual god of death welcome him into its domain.
Yeah like the only place to go from there is a ritual casting with the max level spellcaster sacrifices of grand quantity to take the place of the god of death (or any god you prefer just not the god of magic we don't want a repeat of that) Bare in mind that the gods themselves would try to stop you if you were noticed
Keep in mind this is Karsus' soul we are talking about. One of like 3 spellcasters who can use level 20 spells naturally. The rednecromancer is going to be beyond op with that kind of power on top of it he appears insane.
I have a homebrew lich char The only issues are that he needs to reach level 17 to turn lich and that the phylactery mechanic can only hold a single soul which has to be sentient and that only grants you years of life equal to a single hitdice of the soul Which means he needs to kill a goblin every few years to stay alive, lol Or kill a dragon and live for a longer time Also if you eat a new soul before the current soul expired you just keep the lifespan of the two options that's higher
You have such a way of switching up your narrator voice! I know its probably not a big deal for most of course but its something to appreciate after seeing countless other channels with a bored voice feigning stoicism or being formal. YIRBEL LIVES!
I’m playing a character who is working for a villain just not the one the party is pursuing. My shadow sorcerer is actually a revenant. He was a criminal who died before meeting the party. He now owes the Norse goddess of death Hel a few favors for resurrecting him. He’s the only person she’s done this for and his connection to her is a mystery.
I love it. Though I will say that getting played by necromancer so that the party helps him transform into a lich is inspired, I personally find that having a lich as a final BBEG is a bit overdone. But it's a classic, and a lot people like their classics. So who am I to judge if everybody had a good time in the end?
Classics and Iconics are the way they are for reasons... Yeah, a lot gets overdone, and some is way overhyped, BUT it just wouldn't be the same D&D if it wasn't... ...AND we all still love it! ;o)
Right when I heard the requirements for the box that Dunn wanted to make, I thought "wait, this sounds awfully familiar..." Sure enough, it was what I assumed it was.
What are your thought on the lucky feat, listen, I've done it all. I've subscribed, liked, watched, recommended to my friends now I need answers, this is the fifth video in a row that I've asked the second it came out, and this will not be the last.
That's awesome. I'm pretty jealous. Because the story was interesting and u found group of players who ddint bail on u after session 2 and 6 hrs of play.
Dang, by specializing in Grapples I was hoping the player was a greco Roman wrestler. Body locks that cause damge if the foe struggles. Think high dex, perception and enough hp and attack.
Nice that it went well.......kinda feel bad not being able to see it play out instead of hearing it it from this channel tho. Glad someone might use this channel for more fun ideas.
Dark books? A lot of gold? A soul storing box? Deadly deadly poison? I recognize a Lich ritual when I see one. I was shocked to hear KARSUS was involved, that’s one of my favorite DnD lore stories. Considering his entire soul was brought together into the Phylactery, I hope the new Lich can’t use any of the ancient Arcanist’s power, or Mystra is gonna be PISSED to hear who’s breaking her rules, especially if it’s the very person who warranted them in the first place.
Dunn needs a horse cart with a dawg box in the back packed with hounds and a rack behind the seat complete with a crossbow, compliment of various crossbow bolts, and a banjo.
The only Necromancer I played was based on a book, Sabriel. Necromancers in that book could do both good and bad, and were mostly revered. My Necromancer went around putting the spirits of the undead to rest by chiming enchanted bells, raising the souls back from the beyond so they could temporarily possess me, granting me some of their abilities, and making my own wolf skeleton army. 100 skeleton wolves attack a single target. You can guess the outcome. It was a cool campaign. 14+ Years of DnD, this is still the only Necromancer I played. Never got to finish though, DM moved away,
I heard the name of the Redneckromancer and immediately my brain went: “If y’all wanna not get heartburn you need to get Prilosec! Gitter Dunn!” “That’s shockingly what it’s like.” “I eat ribs every day and I love it but you wanna know something about how much ribs I eat A LOT! ... I’M LARRY THE CABLE GUY!” *laughter* “Eat Prilosec!” “Eat Prilosec?” “ *CONSUME PRILOSEC!!!* ” Anyone else remember where that comes from?
I was expecting this to be an Idunns box/apple joke. I mean... I guess nothing is stopping the new litch from taking the name Idunn and becoming a god...
I have a high elf necromancer (there background is that they were taught magic by their grandfather who before that they became the dnd version of Hades from Greek mythology) who's (knowingly) best friends with a mind flayer who knows magic and he (my necromancer) is siphoning off divine energy from the dead deity version of orcus (which is reflected by having a bit of death cleric) they are a talented mage but not many people acknowledge that so they are willing to do anything (even becoming a lich) just to get acknowledged but if nobody does acknowledge them they have ambitions of becoming a lich to become a deity of life and death to help keep them in balance lastly they have a celestial raven familiar who helped them learn to siphon off divine energy (but they never did enough to kill them because they are friends with there familiar) also they have respect for nature so they always try to leave it alone
I'm sure it was more convincing in the moment. He mentions he was going out of his way to get there guard down. But you were running errands for a necromancer in what way would that go well
ehhhh, last I checked Karsus wasn't evil my man, he was just trying to save the city and such he loved, and was a bit arrogant and unknowing of what he'd done, until he saw it all fall before him as he started turning to stone. I guess good twist on that story, but again, I don't remember any bit of the Karsus lore being evil, just... well, a folly. in fact i don't think he'd EVER touch that spell again if he came back XD! eh, everyone has their twists in the lores of DND.

I have definitely tricked my players into making a BBEG. My wife was playing an Aellar(Bastards & Bloodlines) Ranger/Sorceror(Mialee Windseeker) who was looking to find herself by journeying far from home. She eventually meets several other PC's through an assortment of circumstances that aren't relevant. Throughout her travels she losses her animal companion to a digester. Watches the heads of several of her former companions be lobbed at a village she was staying at by the enemy commander. She then discovers that the war she has been pulled into is much larger than the elvish wood she is living in. After nearly being eaten by spell gaunts, she and her party mates discover a hidden passage leading into an ancient ruin. Within the ruin she and two other party members encounter a Glabrezu demon that basically forces them to choose between death and accepting a demon contract. This is the point where she is tired of feeling helpless and decides to choose evil for the chance to be better. Maybe even do good with her dark gifts. One of her two party fellows chances making a run for it as that PC is set upon by a demon hit squad. So it was that just Mialee and her other companion Valhan, a monk, were facing down this creature. She tells him she will accept so they can leave but Valhan can't accept that. She presses the point that they have no other choice, but he refuses to listen. They fight and he slays her in front of the Glabrezu. It allows Valhan to leave for his performance but what the PC's didn't know(I did tell my wife as it was her character and partly her idea) was that Mialee's willingness to accept had already sealed the contract. Though she was killed, she was resurrected in Hell after being fused with a horned devil. She died as a lvl 15 character that could fly, cast spells and use archery. She was resurrected a lvl 25 Acolyte of the Skin(added 10 lvls of that prestige class for 25 lvl total for those who don't understand). This new creature had a blood vengeance with her former party as she had spend 10yrs in Hell even though only a day had passed in the material realm(time dilation). She was the new threat with a personal vendetta because she believed her friends would save her yet they betrayed her and left her in Hell. They have yet to fight her but it will be good. Enter the Angel of Death.
The DM in this story is great, I have done something similar myself, in one of my earlier finished campaigns, my party was at an inn ,when a giant bolder crashed through the wall ,the bolder was thrown by a Troll and the party rushed out to fight it ,only to discover an other person trying to fight it alone ,it was a young woman named Delma (a very charismatic human rogue arcane trickster) ,after defeating the Troll, the woman pretended to faint and the party's gunslinger and my friend (we will call him A) took her in his carrying embrace, and back to their room at the inn , after they rested for the night , Delma woke up first next to A and tried to have sex with him, A went along with it and so their relationship began, when the rest of the party woke up, Delma told her that she was on a quest of her own. She told them that she went to an academy for magic ,but she was expelled, because her father tried to deal a cupe to the academy's counsel, and he was imprisoned for his crimes and she was targeted. Now ,her quest was to find the 3 keys that open the pocket dimension prison and save her father, the party pressured by A ,agreed to help her find the keys. I was really proud of the encounter design, but I am not going to bored you, with their whole adventure ,cause it's a big one, some high lights are , killing a pedophille necromancer in 2 hits, fighting a whole blighted druid's grove, killing a queen so her rival sister can take the throne and giving the party some land to start a settlement of their own ,for stoping a bloody civil war. And many more, in the end and after a lot of time ,they gathered up the 3 keys and she thanks them and start a ritual, with blood magic. That makes our barbarian at time ,Asger, really uncomfortable , by that his reasoning was to cut her down with his axe , which the party stopped for doing , barely not killing him in the process, after the ritual is down , a portal opens ,but to the parties surprise, instead of her father, what walked out of that portal was the demonic cambion woman that was Delma's truest companion , and after the demon cast a 5th level hold person on the whole party ,paralyzing them ,Delma cast out the infant that was A child out of her belly and then plane shifts away with her cambion lover. Leaving the party hurt and betrayed
A story about my first time DM My character is a Hunan Bard who's a runaway slave to a Drow noble and gets PTSD every time he see's even an Elf. I couldn't attend a session so he has my character imprisoned by my slave master and my Teifling Rogue bought my freedom. A few sessions later were in an oasis and we see Drow transporting slaves and my character immediately has a panic attack before getting the elves so drunk we kill them in their sleep. I also have a drinking horn enchanted so I turn into another race when I drink it. First time I turn into a dragon and fly us to the target city (only making it half way), and me trying to get us there fast takes another drink and my dice says screw you and my DM turns into a Drow!
Moral of the story there a reason nobody trusts necromancers it's simple why did they choose necromancy most reasons are suspect unless they were kidnapped born in a cult and taught necromancy as the default but that's hella suspect just not there fault

Hopefully he's just waiting for a bigger audience.

Finished up the vid, wonderful, suspected the ending the second I learned it was the book of vile darkness they were borrowing.
This was awesomesauce! I can't believe it was his first time dming. He did very well and I kinda wish he was my DM.
With the name "Gittur Dun" all expectations were thrown out the window. That was a wild ride I thoroughly enjoyed.

Working for the bad guy all along is a pretty classic speculative fiction trope. It's the players fault for not reading the friggin book.

He now owes the Norse goddess of death Hel a few favors for resurrecting him. He’s the only person she’s done this for and his connection to her is a mystery.
My main question is how did the players not see that coming? He must have been really, reallly good if he managed to pull that one over their eyes.
everyone in this story was new, the DM, and his players.
I'll take that as a compliment lol

I got it once you mentioned the book of vile darkness
That's the exact reason I called it "The Tome of Iggwilv" for most of the game.
What episode had a half dragon paladin who feel In Love with an elven noble before she got kidnapped by a lich
Also because they are siphoning off divine energy from the dead deity version of orcus they are enemy's of the abyss
Was, per chance, this "Redneckromancer" a necromancer garbed in red?
He was not. He was, in fact, clothed in patchwork shorts, a ragged vest, and a straw hat with a reed hanging out of his mouth.

A story about my first time DM
My character is a Hunan Bard who's a runaway slave to a Drow noble and gets PTSD every time he see's even an Elf. First time I turn into a dragon and fly us to the target city (only making it half way), and me trying to get us there fast takes another drink and my dice says screw you and my DM turns into a Drow!
isn't karses that guy who made god ban 10th level spells in a previous edition?
He absolutely is. I dug deep into D&D lore to find him.
I hope Duns 3 companions become mini bosses
All "Hero's" create their own nemesis.
that was brilliant
Hey, can I submit my own stories or do you make these up as you go along? Let me know. Thanks bro.
I may not make a bad guy like this but i suddenly had a totally unique character idea I swear I didn’t steal the idea from someone
I really liked the story
Nice
Truly inspired lmfao

Moral of the story there a reason nobody trusts necromancers it's simple why did they choose necromancy most reasons are suspect unless they were kidnapped born in a cult and taught necromancy as the default but that's hella suspect just not there fault
15th yeah I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy (I'm not hating just tired)
