You make it look easy! I’m in the process of changing out one of my idler pulleys (which seized up). Maintenance on a craftsman mower deck is no longer a mystery! Many thanks.
The idler pulleys can be a little bit of a pain. I dont like the square holes where you have to hold the bolts up in a small space underneath. I had trouble holding them and it kept slipping which runs the risk of rounding out the hole or bolt. Would have been better had they just welded those to hold themselves in place. Other than that a deck rebuild is pretty easy.
One of my customers called about his deck not disengaging. I watched your video about the return spring last night now I see the deck again today! Thanks for the videos!

@@Jaco3688 thanks for watching!
I’m curious as to why you didn’t replace the mandrel stripper that you had and order one for the other spindle.
@@fmorell6 I didn't think that it was necessary. I have worked on a lot of decks, and most do not have that part.
Always use never sieze on the spindle bolts if you ever want to remove them again. Steel bolts into aluminum always means trouble.

I can’t get my nut off my pulley how do I keep it from spinning
Try adding a wood block between the clamp and the mower deck on the outside. You can tighten better without scratching the paint.
@@richardgrayson9934 thanks for the input
13mm socket size
He is a mechanic
You forgot to put the round guards underneath the deck to stop the grass from building up
Pretty sure you meant 80 lb/ft NOT psi as the specs for the top nut on the pulleys.
You are correct! Thanks for watching.
It needs a new deck belt
