Western actors are not required to do ‘fan service’ unlike in Thailand and Taiwan. Western actors promote their movies/TV shows by giving interviews talking about the movie/tvshow itself, their work, the characters, the message of the movie/tv. But there’s no way they’d be required to pretend to be interested in their costars, or play suggestive games, etc. They’re protected by regulations put in place by the movie/TV industry as part of their contracts. It would be considered an invasion of their personal lives as well.
It’s quite disturbing how actors in Asia are forced to participate in fan service especially in regards to a BL series as it effects their private life and should be kept separate.

Based on some interviews I’ve listened to from Taiwanese BL producers they don’t force these boys to do fan service, they give them some direction and games to play to show chemistry and if the boys are comfortable they kiss, if not they can just pretend to (for scene reenactments, etc)

@@Abbyloveslove so it may not be "forced", but it's expected so they all do it; I've also found it somewhat disturbing because alot of these fans believe these BL actors are really a couple; they have to hide their real life girlfriends (if they have one) and portray this false image just to promote a show; nothing you would ever see in the Western entertainment industry
