Hey Buddy, Do you know why saved games don't work properly when loaded? Some of them have bad image, some have lag, and some have no sound. I save them the way you say it on the video.
I haven't seen behavior like that in a healthy build. It could be an issue with your SD card or Hard Drive. What version of Batocera are you using, which device is it on (Pi 4, Pi 5, PC), and what format is the build on (SD Card, HDD, SSD)?
Thanks for this... I find it weird there is no save menu in batocera/koriki though. Through this guide i was finally able to get games to save and load, but savestate manager still doesn't show anything available. I imagine this will be annoying if ever wanting to load different save states.... The stock OS seems to have a much better grip on saves, or maybe i'm doing something wrong?
Check the first part of the video. By turning on Save State Manager, set to "if not empty" you will see and access all saves for each RetroArch emulated system when you load them. This is done through RetroArch, so it won't show on the Emulation Station game list. But it will show automatically when you load a game that has save states. If you have save states, a set of boxes will appear at the bottom of the screen when you load the game. You will see screen shots for each save state, and also have the option to just load a new game.
It is possible to choose the slot savegame through hot key? It is possible to activate retroarch menu through keyboard and not from gamepad? Thanks! Which skin do you use? I like with consoles logo!
Yes, there is a Save Game hotkey. You hold Select and hit West/X. You can't change the hotkey combo though. It is preset in Batocera. I use the "Arcade Planet" theme/skin. The keyboard functions like a gamepad, but you may have to use a controller to access RetroArch and set it play from keyboard. You can map it in Controllers & Bluetooth. Here are the keyboard presets. To Open RetroArch, you would hit Select + South/A. # Start and Select Select = Right Shift Start = Enter # Face buttons A = X B = Z X = S Y = A # D-pad Down= Arrow Down Left= Arrow Left Right= Arrow Right Up= Arrow Up # Shoulder buttons Left Shoulder=Q Right Shoulder=W Left Trigger=nul Right Trigger=nul
In Batocera 38, Mame lets you save during in game using hotkeys. However when I load the save state using hotkeys (example slot 1) it loads the next save state (slot 2) which is of course empty resulting to failed load. What is the solution for this. Is this a bug or what? This only happens in Mame. Thanks.
I would recommend turning on the Save State manager. If you enable it, when you load a game with save states, you will see a list of them on the bottom of the screen. Then you can highlight and choose the one you want to load. I go over activating the Save State Manager in the video.
Thanks, this is a really useful intro to the savestate manager.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Check my website support page for more helpful step by step docs and information: retroknightgaming.com/support
