......thank you Judy.......do you let your orchids sit and soak.....or spray them.......I grow inside during winter also...when I do water.... It sure helps. Your advice on retaining the green phal spikes has payed off with my phals. Take care and happy growing!
Hi Rick. Beautiful to hear your voice 😂and see your new collection beginning. Love the baskets. And Jan too with her new collection. I know what you mean when you say you have missed your orchids. Do not get much lava rock where I am. We get clay balls but would love to try lava rock. Welcome back. You have been missed.

.....thank you my friend......if you mean mottled Phals.....its a $$ thing I'm sure....the only place I have found them is at Trader Joes.....and even that is rare....I'm sure there are some places you can find them easier......get that Calmag and get those beauties outside to enjoy the sun........happy growing.!
Hey Rick, We are blessed as well with your knowledge and how you can explain things so everyone can grow better plants. Can't wait for more nutrient posts. Think I've watched your mobile an immobile post over 20 times and have the sheet in my greenhouse. Keep going brother we all appreciate you
hi rick, your plants are beautiful! we are new to the yt orchid thing, but just recently found your channel. its great to see you're back growing...thanks for sharing
Rick, it is so good to have you back on a regular basis! The growth on your plants is inspiring. I am getting more growth on my orchids thanks to your nutrient suggestions. Thank you and God bless!
Hi from South Africa. Always great to see a new video. Your orchids looking great. We are slowly going towards winter here so end of the growing season now for us.
......Im actually using a few different products at the moment......I will get into the types in a video soon......but Im feeding 125-175ppm most feedings......and I flush with clean water every 3rd feeding......flushing those pots is super important......
Don't worry. I don't cut green phalanopsis spikes. I even have a very good example of why you shouldn't. I have a branch starting at the very top node just under the last flower node. I also just put both plants in gravel. Gee, I wonder who's influenced that is?! It's wonderful to see you as always.
Whoopee Rick I just found your new video and I’m so glad you’re back in the game with the orchids and doing so well healthwise. God bless you you’re an inspiration to his whole.
Your orchids looks amazing, Rick! I can hear the joy and excitement in your voice! We are so blessed to have you back to share you orchid growing journey! How often are you fertilizing now? And what is the strength of your mix? Thank you and God bless! :)
.......Tobiesmom.....love the name......thank you so much.......I feed several times then flush......flushing them with clean water is super important to keep salt build up from fertilizer building up on your roots and media.....I feed somewhere around 125-250ppm.....I adjust the nutrients so they get a more varied feeding of nutrients......Calcium is with all feedings as well as with flushes.........great questions.......hope that helps.
Your orchids look so healthy. Just so beautiful. I have learned so much from your channel and looking forward to your new posts. Love from South Africa 💐
......not much to demonstrate.......planting them in inert medias, river rock, ....lava rock....pea gravel etc........ gives a grower control of the orchids.....
I love Nodosas, and dendrobiums! Everything is looking great! Would like to know what Hoyas Jan has in her collection and what care she's giving them. I have a few Hoyas. Keep doing well Rick, it's great to see this video from you!
I can relate to your comment about not cutting phal spikes after the flowers have gone. I left an old spike where the buds had blasted. After a few months I now have two little growths. They look more like new plants than a new spike, but I'll take it!
thanks Diane......Research shows......when phals go into reproductive mode and start spiking they require lots of potassium.......if they are not being fed enough potassium [K]......they will take it from lower leaves....the lower leaves start yellowing and die........by leaving the green spikes on the plants, we are helping them to maintain their K levels better.....
So good to see your videos again. Your 20 orchids look so healthy. Need your help, l grow my phals, cats and dendrbiums in 90% leca, 10% charcoal & a bit of pulp. Last month I changed to your Jack's A&B mix. I live in SE FL., grow under a screened patio that faces North. It's getting HOT now, 95 with feels like temp 110. My questions are: Growing in 90% rock how do l know when it's time to water? I use a bamboo stick & it's dry in 2-3 days How long should I soak at each watering? I use rain water and Jack's A&B at 150ppm. CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR NUTRIENT VIDEO WITH PAULA! You talking over the phone was not a problem for me. You & your wife are in my prayers. Bill R in Ft Lauderdale
.....Bill thanks for the kind words....when I water I let them sit and soak for 20 minutes....even more......they will stay damp in thier pots for several days......and then a few dry days....then I repeat.....so Im watering maybe every 4-5 days.....they can go a few days more.....but I love to water them.....make sure to flush them after every few feedings.....
Very interested video and some lovely plants you have there to. I have just started growing in lava rock coming up for three weeks and they’re doing well. Hope they do as well is yours😊

.....thank you my friend......if you mean mottled Phals.....its a $$ thing I'm sure....the only place I have found them is at Trader Joes.....and even that is rare....I'm sure there are some places you can find them easier......get that Calmag and get those beauties outside to enjoy the sun........happy growing.!
So healthy plants Rick ! Very promising start of your new collection! So glad you are doing good.
......very kind thank you!
Hey Rick,
We are blessed as well with your knowledge and how you can explain things so everyone can grow better plants. Can't wait for more nutrient posts. Think I've watched your mobile an immobile post over 20 times and have the sheet in my greenhouse. Keep going brother we all appreciate you

thanks Albert.......end of growing season is start of blooming season for many orchids......hope you get lots of blooms.
@@rickl.orchids yup checking the Cattleya sheafs often and autumn Cymbiums pushing spikes.
Rick, talk to us about all the different fertilizers that you use and ratio
......Im actually using a few different products at the moment......I will get into the types in a video soon......but Im feeding 125-175ppm most feedings......and I flush with clean water every 3rd feeding......flushing those pots is super important......

My pleasure!
Thanks for sharing . I am very glad you're back. Hello from Slovenia.
......thank you so very much for watching....and the kind comment!....
Don't worry. I don't cut green phalanopsis spikes. I even have a very good example of why you shouldn't. I have a branch starting at the very top node just under the last flower node. I also just put both plants in gravel. Gee, I wonder who's influenced that is?!
It's wonderful to see you as always.
......aways good to see you my friend........
Hi Rick, the orchids look very healthy. I love to hear you talk about nutrients. See you soon👍🏻❤️🥰11:52
thank you Maria......I love to talk about nutrients

Joy is the best medicine rick...and your orchids give you lots of joy...take it slow just like you said keep well!!!
Thank you, I will
Your orchids looks amazing, Rick!
@@rickl.orchids Thank you, Rick. I have to admit that I don't flush as often as I should. Tobie was the name of my Cocker Spaniel! :)
Mr Rick I'm so happy to see you,my ❤️ 🎉😂❤my love give God thanks
......Im very blessed ....thank you so much!
Great to see you are slowly returning to the orchid growing. Wish you steady recovery and lots of new exciting orchids for the collection!

You are an inspiration to many of us. You and Jan remain in my prayers.
so very kind ....prayers always appreciated
Your orchids look so healthy. Just so beautiful. I have learned so much from your channel and looking forward to your new posts. Love from South Africa 💐
.......so very kind......your words make me smile!
Wow orchids growing on rocks? Unbelievable!!! Can you please demonstrate how it's done?
......not much to demonstrate.......planting them in inert medias, river rock, ....lava rock....pea gravel etc........ gives a grower control of the orchids.....
I love Nodosas, and dendrobiums! Everything is looking great! Would like to know what Hoyas Jan has in her collection and what care she's giving them. I have a few Hoyas. Keep doing well Rick, it's great to see this video from you!
.....thanks Shirley.....there is a Hoya Wayetti.....and a Hoya Curtissi.....very common, but they too are growing well
The collection is looking great!
thank you Miguel......
I’m glad to hear you voice
.......it feels great to be heard........thank you!
Orchids growing on rocks… unbelievable! I see it for the first time 😮
.......if you understand nutrients and how they use them.....they grow on about anything......thank you!
Slow is the best way to go. Thanks for the video tour. Love from Wisconsin
.......thanks Tess.......slow is my best speed these days!
@@rickl.orchids slow is a fine speed...
My questions are:
Growing in 90% rock how do l know when it's time to water? I use a bamboo stick & it's dry in 2-3 days
How long should I soak at each watering?
I cant wait to hear about your feeding recipe
thank you Kayte.......I'm trying some new things ......multiple fertilizer options would be better for subscribers that are located all over
Very interested video and some lovely plants you have there to. I have just started growing in lava rock coming up for three weeks and they’re doing well. Hope they do as well is yours😊
......they should.....you let me know if they dont.......please dont be shy about asking questions.......
Tour orchids are amazing!
.....thank you Naomi
