Now that's a game I would LOVE to see again...life was great then, I was into the WWE/WWF/NWA back then in wrestling and these times bring back so many memories: the music, food, people, and just overall life was better then during this time...sports was at an all-time high and the athletes were competing at a high level.
This is great! Similar to the CBS intros of that time. We were lucky with what we got from CBS, TNT, and NBC in the '80s and '90s for the NBA. Smarter people with better taste were in charge of such things back then.
I know the Association have done this occasionally in the past, but as someone born in the mid-90s who missed out on this era of basketball, it would be cool if they had these sort of themes, vibes and concepts return for broadcasts more often to allow those to experience it for themselves in the modern NBA. Would be great for throwback jersey nights. Hell, even 2K added a separate mode to recreate it too 😅
Laimbeer used to say he couldn't dunk right handed. And he rarely dunked at all, particularly as he got older. I've often wondered whether if he'd been four inches shorter, 6'7" instead of 6'11", if he'd been able to dunk at all. One of the most effective non-leapers to ever play in the NBA.
I love how the Pistons are so dirty that every time you see new clips that you haven't seen before there's always new fights you missed as well. These guys put a season's worth of dirty plays into one game.
Anyone know the date of the game Vinnie won at the buzzer shown during this reel? I've been searching for a box score on that one for awhile and can't find anything.
I think there is a fair chance that clip is from Opening Night of the 1985-86 season when the Pistons beat the Bucks 118-116. www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/198510250DET.html
Forgive me, but I actually remember George Blaha's radio call of this shot vividly from what was Halloween Night of 1985 (almost forty years later, so call me a nerd): "Vinnie with a follow at the horn...[]...scoops! It goes! Vinnie Johnson wins the game! Vinnie Johnson wins the game at the horn. Vinnie hit it in traffic off the glass and the Pistons beat the Bucks. Our final at the Silverdome: the Pistons 118 and the Milwaukee Bucks 116. This is the Pistons basketball network."
@Swove2204 do you have any footage from a game where Isiah Thomas stepped on doc rivers face by accident and when doc spit out his teeth on the floor the announcer said..."Awwhhhh...someone spilled their Chicklets!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Sigh. This just makes me miss the 80’s so much. 1987 was a wonderful year for me.
The music alone in 1987 was gold.
Y'all got me crying man. This is my childhood right here. 🏀
I remember this fondly, 14 year old kid looking forward to another night of exciting NBA Basketball!

I've just seen Isiah Thomas dunking twice on the same video and one of them back to the basket...
Looked like a rare Bill Laimbeer righty-slam, too.

My second favorite TV50 intro. FYI Pistons won this game 100-99.
