Fun content, we do the very same kind of smallmouth fisheries in Iowa and Minnesota.

Trout ?!?!?? I think you need to check your info source on that one. The IDNR i believe still does their spring catchable trout thing in Rock Creek(well known Kank. trib.). But trout are not native to the Kank.

Go for it. Park along North River Road and walk through the woods to get to the river. The bite will be good now through fall 👍

Awesome video! I'm planning to head to Kankakee river state park to try some smallmouth fishing. Would you recommend fishing the main river? Or maybe one of the tributaries? Such as rock creek? I'm very new to smallmouth fishing since I live around banner marsh central illinois.

You would honestly have success in both areas. Just look for deeper areas and current breaks. Fish will pile up on them this time of year!

@@austinkilgore What size are those rooster tails? 1/8th, 1/6th or 1/4 inch?????

I believe we were using 1/16 oz. rooster tails. If you go too heavy they will get snagged on rocks much easier

You need to get your lure straight. That’s not a Maps that’s a rooster tail. There’s a big fucking difference, but you would know that because you’re such a great fisherman, wouldn’t you?
