    For anyone struggling, ask your dermatologist for a compounded Ivermectin/aloe cream. It's the same active ingredient as Soolantra, but at an affordable price. Depending on the compounding pharmacy it's anywhere from $30-60 for a 2gm container but it lasts easily 2.5 months, using it 2 times a day. It's life changing!

    Thank you so much Chelsea for sharing and to all those below who shared their tips and tricks as well. I do think diet is likely a HUGE factor and in that we are all unique. I recently did a bit of celery juicing just in the morning and it seemed like that helped reduce the redness a bit. Now I just need to invest in a better juicer. However, I recall that my rosacea started just a few years ago after some very stressful life circumstances (also affected my blood pressure), and unfortunately I have not seen a reprieve just yet, so the tip on finding ways to manage stress is likely going to be key for me as well. And, stress can affect our immune systems so the ongoing stress probably had a domino effect. I am definitely leaning towards the idea that the skin is often just reflecting to us that something else is going on in our bodies that needs to be addressed. Maybe more than one thing.

    My history with rosacea is almost the same! I had 4 years without rosacea mainly doing my clean diet as a lifestyle. At this moment (I have 2 years in a new country) the rosacea came back to me, but I know that I am not eating properly and I experience a lot of stress because I am still in this new country adaptation. I am beginning to recover all my good habits because I don’t want to let the rosacea be back in the way I used to have it.

    I think the main cause of rosacea is histamine and the main reason, why you cut down your rosacea is the thumeric which reduces histamin. Nice Video.

    • @ChelseaGilson
      @ChelseaGilson  6 лет назад +1

      histamine is definitely an issue!! Which explains why wine had bothered me so much.

      Chelsea Gilson yeah wine and other foods like cheese etc. as well. Histamine is also released from the Body, when he wants to protect against sundamage, topical or drunken alcohol, alergies etc. I take antihistamine (Loratafin) and it is working very well. Sorry my english is pretty bad :p

    • @SSJfraz
      @SSJfraz 6 лет назад +55

      Rosacea can't possibly exist without triggers. There is something going on inside you that is triggering an auto immune response which is causing your skin to be constantly inflamed. It doesn't happen for no reason, there is always a cause for it. It's not something you're born with, so something must have changed within your body to cause it to be triggered. You need to discover what it is and illuminate it permanently. The most common culprit is Gluten.

    I found that my rosacea is triggered by dairy, tomatoes, wine and wheat. Also, I was advised by a skin therapist (who also had rosacea) to make sure that anything I put on my face is fragrance-free and that has helped. I use mineral foundation and have managed to keep my skin under control for about 20 years now

    Thanks. I have had rosacea for a few years now and I am trying to get a handle on it. I've also had stomach issues. Been checked out with a clean bill of health, but was diagnosed with rosacea. My fianc'e got me a good face cream which definitely helped. Wine and greasy foods definitely make it worse. I believe a lot of it is the food we eat . When I do something strenuous it flares up too. I know the flare ups are because too much blood flow to an area., so it makes sense about alcohol because it thins your blood. Another interesting note is that I think it has some correlation to drinking wine. I think this now because I didn't really drink wine until about 8 years ago. My ex got me hooked on wine and we probably drank at least one glass if not the whole bottle about every other night. It was a few years later that my forehead started getting really dry. I just though it was the gel I used. So I change them but, it didn't help. It gradually got worse. Listening to peoples stories, a lot of them drink wine. I hope it is not the case but, who knows. It could be pesticides they use on the vines? Anyways, thanks for the tips. Cheers!

    Great video! Thanks so much! Just want to add this bc it made a HUGE HUGE difference for me immediately: Start drinking 1liter or more of high-Ph water per day. Regular bottled water is highly acidic and tap water is generally neutral. You want to go to the other end of the spectrum to high-Ph (aka high-alkaline) water. I had been drinking almost 2liters of bottled water per day in an effort to 'be healthy'. Little did i know i was pouring fuel on the fire of my rosacea! When i learned of the connection between acid being a contributing factor to rosacea, i immediately switched to high-Ph water and within 2days, my redness decreased dramatically. So watch your intake of acids and flush out what you do take in with high Ph water. Also eliminate sugar cuz it is very acidic. ( This is not 'acidic' like we normally think of citrus fruits, but acidic as in 'acids and bases/alkaline'. Read up on it, scads of stuff on internet about it, it will help so much) Hope this helps!

    • @ChelseaGilson
      @ChelseaGilson  6 лет назад

      wow! you know what, I had just switched to alkaline drinking water around the time that my Rosacea was clearing up too - I'm sure it had something to do with it! Bottled water is so gross, it can even interfere with your hormones!

    I think you have hit it right on when it comes to curing Rosacea. I caused mine at a late age of about 54 by getting over heated at my favorite flea market. When I would finally tear myself away from the market to use the ladies room on the way people would be staring at me and I couldn't figure out why. When I got into the ladies room and looked in the mirror I was beet red from the heat. I looked like I was having a stroke. And in those days I would still on occasion eat almost anything and it always affected my skin. All your information is right on. I am now almost 71 have learned to take better care inside and out. I still get a little Rosacea now and then as I still love a good flea market, and so I have IPL laser treatments once in a few years to get perfect clear skin. I hated all the things the dermatologist had me try and they were so costly. Thank you for all the great information.

      When my rosacea was at its worst I never used an exfoliant. I would just wash gently with coconut oil or a cleanser made for rosacea/severely sensitive skin. When I covered up my rosacea the make-up made it worse. There may be some make-up that does not irritate and is specially formulated for rosacea. Thankfully I used the pro-skin rosacea cream by mama nature and it got rid of all signs of rosacea I previously had - even the flushing rosy cheeks!

    Well, after reading all the comments it transpires that everyone is unique and has their own journey and story to tell. Rather like our finger prints, none of us are the same. It is a trial and error process for each and every individual. Keep up the fight all of you. Trinny, Caroline Hirons and other skin experts have all produced amazing videos and blogs using medical research and getting the true experts opinions involved. The choice of products out there can be so confusing and misleading so I generally will listen to these girls and take it as it is. I have found that any Elemis skin care destroys my skin, but Clinique is amazing. Each to their own...x

    When I was younger I bought vitamin a cream online. I have bdd and the way I look has effective me for as long as I remember. I always had acnes problems and saw good results online. But I got more skin problems after the use. The said I had acne rosacea. For years it was a problem. But the last couple of years I had no problems. Could do everything they say you can't do with rosacea. Could use all kinds of products. Sit in the sun for days. After a nice summer of nice looking skin I got vitamin a again for melasma. And the problems began again. I can't tell you how depressed I am. I just don't understand. Haven't left my house. Watching your video now. Hope you're routine will work for my strawberry 🍓 face.

    Ive been stuck with rosacea symptoms for 3 years now and Im currently suffering from dry eyes related to it. What I noticed is that all this began since I started my new job 3 years ago, Im always in a warm and humid work place since we clean carpet and use water/cleaners alot and my forehead and cheeks turn red and start burning as well as the eyelids which causes my dry eyes. Thing is I dont feel like leaving this job cause its such a great company and job that pays well but I know it would probably solve most of my issues that are seriously beginning to ruin my quality of life... Im using Chanv cream for sensitive skin to keep my skin hydrated as well as Theralid to clean my eyelids every morning and evening and while I notice some improvement I still have symptoms almost all the time at work and its truly getting on my nerves as Im having a hard time accepting my situation.

    a friend was diagnosed with rosacea. she got another dr opinion who found a small _carcinoid tumor_ of the endocrine system! creating facial redness & breakouts. Something called *Carcinoid Syndrome* occurs when tumors secrete certain chemicals and hormones into your bloodstream causing a variety of signs and symptoms, one of which is facial flushing. Have a doctor test for this to rule it out in any event, that way you know for absolute sure. She said some doctors are unfamiliar with it! and don't even bother testing they just tell you it's rosacea without examining other possibilities

    I totally agree stress & gut health are so important! When I was doing a lot of green smoothies and exercising my skin was in a really good place! But now that I am in perimenopause, my gut is messed up: indigestion & such, and I am highly stressed it has hit with a vengeance. I can also handle the redness but I have the bumps as well and minimizing it is really difficult. I live in the Pacific NW and we dont get much sun outside of late spring, summer & fall. I notice when the sun comes out and it sit outside in the mornings and get sun on my face it helps my rosacea. Also tomatoes will irritate mine. I read that D3 is super beneficial as well as evening primrose oil and that most people that deal with this have common corn, egg, dairy & wheat allergies.

    Wearing make up looks like it helps also. Not really an option for a man. But thanks for your shared advice. I'm going through a lot of different self help remedies, trial and failure.
    The main thing for me was to start wearing 50SPF sun block EVERY DAY!
    Shaving at night helps as the irritation has time to calm down during sleep, and I'm lucky that I'm fair skinned so I only have to shave every other night, but this probably won't apply to most of you ladies out there, I made a night cream which consists of half a cup of cold pressed coconut oil (softened to room temperature) with 6 drops of tea tree oil.
    I stopped drinking alcohol completely and coffee and replaced it with mint tea, chamomile tea and green tea, all drank at a tepid temperature.
    For the pimples/acne (the worst part of having Rosacea for me (as I thought that was over after high school) I apply aloe vera straight from the cut plant, or after shaving I use a balm made of beeswax and Kanuka and Manuka oil which I bought at a local health food store. I've just started drinking one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water in the mornings.
    Stress...I have two children under three! So I started a morning yoga routine, and am doing a course in mindfulness and meditation, I keep a mood diary and doing a lot of breathing exercises paired with relaxation exercises.
    I eat a completely dairy free vegetarian diet. The one thing you forgot to mention which I think is important, I drink lots of water.
    Mainly, I try not to worry about my Rosacea! I am vain just like everybody else and of course I would love to have clear, perfect skin, but I know the Rosacea looks way worse to me than anyone else! and I try to keep that in mind every day. Good luck. Any other advice would be very welcome. Thanks, from New Zealand.

    I suddenly got the pimple type of rosecea last summer. I struggled with it using various high end topical products, nothing worked. I’ve been seeing a dermatologist for the past year, I’ve tried a few rx that she recommended, they too failed to work. I went to a plastic surgeon and got one laser treatment so far and that make a difference. I have fewer breakouts, the redness is vastly diminished. The Dr recommend a total of three treatments. I go back at the end of February for treatment two.

    Your food triggers are common rosacea triggers with solid scientific evidence. Sunscreen is also recommended with or without rosacea. But I dont get the skepticism against visiting a healthcare provider. I would still recommend rosacea sufferers to see a derm AND consult them whatever peripheral treatments (healthy diet in your case) I'm taking. What do you think?

    Hi! thank you for your tips! I'll try to follow them, as my rosacea got worse lately. Fixing the diet will probably help it a lot. For me, it's also all kinds of spicy food that does it and going out in winter, which I obviously do daily, but it helps to put a really thick, oily cream from Weleda (skin food) and in summer I use Lush Celestial cream and I hydrate a lot with Vichy Mineral 69 hyaluronic serum. I've heard about v-beam laser, that should help it as well, so I'll se about it, if none of the rest helps! You're right. It is about management of the condition. It is not a flipping cure. To label management of a condition as a cure is grossly misleading.
      You do need to check what triggers your condition and either reduce using them, eating them or drinking them. To wholly eliminate them is not easy. My triggers are alcohol (I'm not a massive drinker anyway), spicy food (try and eat this as little as possible) and sun exposure (I now use Purito Centella Unscented SPF50 on the face).

Make a list of all the things you are grateful for and all the things you love about yourself and hang it where you can see it. Then make a self-love to do list, starting with implementing small daily changes, like mindful slow eating and cutting back on sugar and keep a journal to see what helps alleviate some of the redness/bumps and what worsens it. And never forget that your skin isn't what makes you beautiful or not - it's your personality and your confidence! Don't lose sight of your inner glow. xx

    Hi everyone. I also have rosacea and I was in the beginning of getting rosacea acne when I decided to finally go to a dermatologist. He put me on isotretinoin (accutane) for the acne but he said there is no actual treatment for rosacea apart from light treatments - as mentioned in the video), creams and definitely avoiding trigger foods. Everyone is obviously different but according to his years of experience (and also I saw other dermatologists mentioning it on the internet) the most common things that are triggering rosacea and you should 100% avoid is RED WINE (and it was hard since I love red wine), SPICY FOOD (I know...), REALLY HOT BEVERAGES/SOUP (you have to wait for them to cool down) and avoiding HEAT such as a barbeque fire or your fireplace and of course the SUN. So let me write them in a list:
    - Red wine
    - Spicy food
    - Really hot beverages/soup
    - Heat
    - The Sun
    :)

      @@maarmont2478 hello accurate helped a lot but 6 months after stopping it the rosacea came back. But I realised that I lactose is the cause of my rosacea. I was shocked since I was drinking milk and eating cheese all the time. I watched lots of videos online asking to try and cut the lactose for 3 months and indeed my rosacea almost completely disappeared. So I now drink oatmilk instead of regular and vegan cheese and I’m fine. Once in a while I will have an ice cream and some normal cheese because who can’t eat cheese but my rosacea is not visible anymore. I have another friend who had rosacea. She also cut down the lactose and she’s also much better on month two. So it’s definitely to do with lactose intolerance and inflammation of the guts. As we grow older our body can’t process lactose and it cause the guts to get inflamed. That inflammation shows on the face. I would also suggest some probiotics to speed up the recovery 😊

      Chelsea Gilson I have been eating out once a month. The food is starting taste yuk. So once I cut that out I will be fine. Just eating fruits veggies and carbs. But I’m gonna have to cook it on the grill 👍 try to eat fish again. I stopped with the dairy products it’s been helping my face. But the soda and sweets I really have to knock it off 😔 but I do feel better working out and playing basketball again it helps 👍

    I too was told I could never cure my rosacea. I used an antifungal wash and azaleic acid cream from the derm. This kept it under control but certain things would trigger me like cold air (those sudden cold snaps we get in Minnesota) and harsh make up brushes (I bought cheap brushes for mineral makeup and all the swirling and scratching on my skin made my rosacea worse when I was trying to cover it.) I quit using mineral makeup, started using paula's choice (the skin perfecting lotion really got rid of the bumps). I still use an antifungal wash once a week, but it's drying so I try to limit it and then moisturize a lot afterward. Heat doesn't seem to trigger me. I have a sauna in my house and yes my face gets red but it calms down in about a half an hour. Stress is a big factor of course, and I too have found yoga to be the best way to manage it. It seems like figuring out what triggers the flare-ups is key and then avoiding those things. I also use a BB cream to help cover my rosacea, but I'd never thought of an acne specific one, I'll have to try that. I hadn't considered diet, so I'm going to look into that component as well. I love tumeric and ginger so I'm going to incorporate those more to see if it helps with inflammation. Great video. I think this is really helpful and hopeful for people. :)

      Thanks for sharing your tips Jennifer - so good to know about the mineral makeup! The antifungal wash was sooo drying for my skin I couldn't use it unfortunately. Let me know if changing your diet gives you any relief!

    Rosacea is very connected with gut health. Changing diet to organic whole foods, eliminating processed foods, no dairy and gluten, eating clean helps.

    I have been using a skin brightening cream but I took a break for a while and I started to rub almond oil on my face to clean it and I noticed that my face doesn't look right in the morning anymore...my husband noticed first. Not sure what it is maybe that i eat less sugar

    Hi, Chelsea! Could you tell me which chinese herbs/supplements did you take during your healing months (apart from diet and the other things you have talked about)? Thank you so much!
