I used to do this in my bujos. I changed then to a more "formal" aka happy planner. I still find it too restrictive for me (my brain cannot handle it :). Looking back at my bujos, having a "monthly" page in one journal makes sense. Also, an idea: scan your "monthly" and print it out, and move the printout to a "yearly" journal. The ideas are limitless!
Wow this is amazing. I am definitely going to try this. Thank you so much for sharing. Where is the video of the in depth first 6 months btw? Thanks again for sharing such awesome tips/advice !
This is amazing advice for a beginner like me! It takes pressure off and opens your creativity. There are so many different ways to do a monthly page or pages. I remembered to save receipts, movie tickets, business cards, etc. I would either write and glue as things happened or keep a little collections tray to do it all at once. Also maybe have a "currently section" and write down things you've been watching, reading, listening, eating, loving, etc. I learned that it's not necessary to have "pretty pages", what you create is perfect and you will appreciate that you did it. Some people are naturals at these things and some of us aren't. The best thing to do is jump right in to that "cold water" because eventually it will feel fine. I only have the past 3 months done but I love flipping back and looking at them. I've now started a small sized notebook for thoughts or writing what I am thankful for. Journaling doesn't have standards or rules. The best way to do it is to relax and be you. 🙂Thanks for sharing this video and all the others that have inspired me!
I love this! I have been journaling for 23 years and it's a daily type journal. I have so many journals lying around and every once in a while I'll want to go back and read them and part of the way through the first one i give up. Ugh. This is such a great way of keeping track of the memories and looking back. I am going to start doing this! I think i'll keep doing the daily kind to have a space to brain dump but i love this. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great idea! I do get overwhelmed but love looking back on old calendars that I record things on. Now I can clean up those calendars and have a beautiful book to look back on. Thank You for the idea!
I absolutely LOVE this so much! I’m sure passing this type of journal down to my three adult Sons would be more enjoyable for them to flip through than my other journals. 😊😂🎉❤
I am so thankful that this video was presented as a suggestion in my feed! I’ve been through a traumatic and depressing last nearly three years after being blindsided by learning that my husband of 23 of years at that time was betraying me. He later confessed to more betrayal in past years. My self worth plummeted. I was forced to file for divorce and it became official this past April just after our 25th anniversary. I never ever even imagined being divorced. 😢 I have oh so many art supplies, but I think my fear was that of failure to not have a perfect journal/creation. I knew being creative would be therapeutic but I just couldn’t. I journaled plenty in writing focusing on my pain and the events of the past months. But this!!!! This is what I need. What a no/low pressure way to start to create again. I will focus my monthly recaps on the positive things and feelings, no matter how small, because they are huge for me. I’m in near tears of joy at this new idea of a creative journey. So, thank you so much! ❤
THIS is what I've been looking for! Keeping simple memories that are easy to look back on. I am someone who absolutely loves to brain dump in a journal and write for pages and pages, but I rarely ever want to look back at those entries. It's just to get my thoughts out of my head. But for actual memory keeping, this monthly snapshot sort of style seems perfect. Thank you for this idea and video!
I like this i think it takes time to digest, think, learn and really focus on the experience of the month before......I mean little highlights are good I jot them in my phone notes...take pics that make me happy or sad...but its a whole month before I really feel like noting it down....and believe it or not I am not a journal person!.....I prefer it to be how I felt rather than things I have done and what my kids or grandkids will get something from when they find them after I am gone. ......the little side notes.. scribbles and stickers etc are fun though i get it.
I’m glad I ran across your video. I am a 65 year old retired female and I love journaling, but not really. I love paper, pens pencils, color, flowers, just stuff. I purchased a beautiful Archer and Olive B5 journal but m retired with a slow life style. And the journal is just sitting there. I appreciate your journey of ideas.
Can't wait to try this I always collect snippets text, pictures, words and put in my purses ..and clean out my purses and bags once a week...now I have a place to store those items...
This is what I decided to do in my a6 hobonichi planner on the monthly pages in the front! So glad to see this! I never have enough for my day or even weekly… but this is so doable.
This is what I was looking for! Normally I do every week but escpecially in the summer I don't have much time because of work, I am a (wedding) photographer, and then I feel the pressure! I already decided to make a kind of art/junk journal, but this monthly thing is also such an good idea! Then there is always the upportunity to highlight something from that month later. Love it! Thank you for sharing!
I have been an avid journalist for years, but have run into a slump the last few months. With the New Year before me, I am excited to learn this method and I plan to incorporate it into 2023! Thank you and God bless!
I just want to say thank you!!! So much pressure has been lifted off my shoulders. I knew there was an easy way to do this journaling thing…FREEDOM!! Thanks
I’ve been doing something similar with a year wheel on each of my journals and it’s looking at an entire year in one spread but this idea of one notebook filled with months and several years is definitely something to try! Thank you for the inspiration! ❤
This is Celie from Brenton, WA I have been struggling this past year with the day to day Journaling and I’m glad to see that there might be a better solution instead of playing “catch up “on the regular day today journaling . I also Have done the end of month but it was even a struggle to get that done. So I am looking forward to doing like a brain dump and getting just a month events and I do love that prompts you Have showed us in the video that would be so helpful thank you so much for sharing!
Oh yes, I started doing a highlights page at the end of each month and it’s such a centering, mood-boosting moment to look back on 😊I also love going all out with the decor.
I started doing this in the back of my journal this year and absolutely love it! I don’t add any stickers or photos, just short blurbs currently, but I absolutely love reading the little notes of what happened that month.
This is such a wonderful and helpful idea. I have got so bored of writing the “same old stuff” every day, so this I think will be perfect. Thank you. Hope you had a blessed Christmas.
I have been making journals for about a year and I never journal myself! This is a great idea and yes, I will be trying this out. And I just subscribed to your channel! Thank you!
I love the sound and thought of monthly journaling. Such a beautiful idea as time goes by so fast it’s great to highlight the memories you want save . Thankyou for the help and ideas 💡
I am new to journaling and this seems like a great way to start! I make “junk” journals and people always want to know what to do with them. I can refer them to you as I think that they can be combined! Thank you!!
Hello. I'm a new subscriber and new to the world of creative journaling. I am definitely going to start by using your wonderful idea of creating a month at a time and see how that goes. Thank you and Happy 2023!😊🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for this!!! I'm just about to start on my Journaling journey, and I feel like I have no idea the way I want to do it and I think this is the best thing!! 💕💕
Great tips!! I've done a similar thing in my bullet journal, but never consistently. Appreciate your tips & encouragement. I'm now inspired & will do this every month now, with more detail. Thank you!! 😘
I love this idea! I used to journal a lot, but I got out of the habit. I think this method will help me get back into it. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
What a great idea! And I can confirm that I’d been doing something similar in a digital journal and I’ve been much more consistent. I love your month-in-review matrix though, and I’m totally using this. Thank you!
I daily journaled for months and then stop for months, then started and stopped. I'm always sad I missed weeks because I love looking back to see what I've done. Since August I've been doing monthly photo dumps. Just looking back on my phone and printing the memories I want to keep.ans writing a few words or a sentence next to them. That's a I have the energy for. It's great because I can see my kids grow and remember we did a lot even though I feel bad because I have chronic migraine. I have started daily gratitude journaling, just one sentence a day before I go to bed. That's been very positive for my well being too. 😊
I am so grate that the algorithm suggested this video!! I love this idea, because I have been so daunted at the idea of dailies as I am a beginner... again. Thank you so much! And Happy New Year!!
A whole year on 12 pages is an absolutely great idea ❤ I really want to try this idea and share it with my viewers in Germany, I Hope, that is not a Problem 🦋Thank you very much for your wonderful Inspiration 🫶 Best Wishes ❤Susanne
Thank you so much! This is truly inspiring. I’ve done art journaling but this is something I’ve never done and will definitely do it this year! I’m grateful to have watched this video. God bless. Xx
Well… this seems to be a good one to try out for the new year. I’ve tried different types of journaling, but can’t seem to hold on. I don’t always have the energy to write a lot, and indeed, there is a lack of creativity too sometimes. Filling the pages like you do, makes it a little art piece on its own. Love it! Thank you so much for this idea!
Just found your channel. What a great incentive to start the flow of thoughts, feelings, doings, and all those experiences. I'm sure that on reflection, we will all be forever grateful 🙏 for the beginning of a "new us" only one page at a time! Great idea 💡 👍
I NEED a planner. I WANT to journal. I DON’T want multiple books. I just brought all my calendars home from work after taking early retirement due to a disability. Everyone at work laughed at my calendaring. I could go back and tell them when, or IF, we got off early for something, when we had our new office furniture put in, when we got our new printers/scanners/computers, when we started the new computer program, when a certain work situation happened, etc. If I asked a supervisor/boss a question, I recorded question, response, and person, as a back-up for myself. I also recorded interactions I had with the public that there might be questions about. I gave my supervisor and workmates permission to access my calendar if they ever had any questions concerning anything I had done. I was so invested they even let me use the calendar only supervisors got to order. I realized I could journal my home planner the same way and it would be like your month in review page. Just structured on a monthly calendar format instead of scattered around the page as yours is. Thus, I could have my planner and journal, too! Thank you for this idea! I love it! Tomorrow, I am going to buy the pretty planner I saw in Walmart!🥰♥️💗
New subbie here. I love this idea and will share it with those who have received or purchased a junk journal from me. Many people enjoy the idea of a journal but have no clue where to start. This approach is low or no pressure, and so creative! Thank you for sharing this very easy way of documenting our lives. I will be checking out your other videos as well.
I think I'll give this a go in my journals this year. I find pages like these can get a bit cluttered and confusing at times, which is why I don't like to do them. But I will say challenge accepted - will try these in my journal for next year. see if I like it.
How is the challenge going? Her pages are so cute, but when I look more closely I’m not so sure I’d like using so many stickers. I’m wondering if a slightly more structured layout would be more my (and your) style.
This year I tried daily Journaling and it wasn't much of a success. I've watched your monthly Journaling and have decided that is the best way to go for me. Thank you for the print out I really believe I can be successful with your help. As always thank you for your wonderful videos. God Bless you and your family and I hope you had a joyous Christmas and I wish for you a Happy, Healthy and a Peaceful New Year
Yes! I make a monthly calendar in my planner and jot just a note about one detail in each day's block and use stickers/stamps/etc. that encapsulate that theme/concept. It is so gratifying at the end of the month to see it all come together.
This is such a great idea!! I have been journaling daily for more than 30 years 😱😱😱 and I have never ever thought about it monthly. I’m sure starting this year 🙏🏼😊
This looks so special! I would love to do this. I fear that I'm not creative enough to do something nice but I guess I just have to try it and see. Your spreads are beautiful. Thank you for the inspiration. God bless you and yours.
You are definitely creative enough! We are all created to create, and you don’t have to use a ton of photos and stickers like I do. Whatever feels right for you! ☺️
Great idea to add in addition to myself NOT getting to journal daily. This is a perfect gap filler idea. Before beginning a new month, I can reflect on the important things I might have missed. 😁
I can’t believe I just found you. I’m just beginning to do creative journaling, and a lot of it has to do with what God is doing in my life, during some very difficult seasons. Your channel is amazing! Thank you for sharing your creativity & your faith, joy & encouragement. ☺️💞
Thanks for watching fam! I hope it encourages you to give month-in-review journaling a try in your own journal. If it did, let me know down below. If you already do something like this, I'd love to know what you include in your monthly pages :)

Thanks so much for sharing your process! Having a little collection tray for things you want to include and a currently section are great ideas!
LaLay Dade, thank you for what you said about the pages not having to be pretty. I needed to read that. N
I love this! I have been journaling for 23 years and it's a daily type journal. It’s a great complement to daily journaling 😉
Thank you for showing us less can be more, so overwhelmed by all the stuff to use for journaling, crazy
This is a great idea! I do get overwhelmed but love looking back on old calendars that I record things on. Now I can clean up those calendars and have a beautiful book to look back on. Thank You for the idea!

I’m exactly the same lol I agree
I agree! This sounds so great without me blabbing some thoughts that don’t need to be kept.
Such a great idea! Implementing immediately! Thank you for the reminder to get down what matters! 🦋🦋🦋
My mum makes journals and it was something I had for Christmas 🎄. There so pretty
I found this video on January 31st - now I am inspired to try this today! 💙🙏🏽😎

God Bless you and your family and I hope you had a joyous Christmas and I wish for you a Happy, Healthy and a Peaceful New Year
Thanks Sandy! I hope you have great success with monthly journaling!
I’m sure starting this year 🙏🏼😊
Wow 30 years of daily journaling!! What an accomplishment 💛
Great ideas for us beginners! Thank you for sharing this idea.
Yay! You’re very welcome Pat. I hope it helps you!
I just might try this. I’ve been having a hard time journaling at all lately. I will definitely be trying this 😊
This is excellent advice! Thank you for sharing
Love this! Blessings.
Love this! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
This is such a simple idea but it makes starting this feel very achievable for me. I'm doing this in 2023! Thank you 💗🙏
Yes exactly! So simple, which makes it achievable, but also the end product is SO VALUABLE 💛 enjoy!
@@MyAbidingJournal thank you for your kindness
Great idea to add in addition to myself NOT getting to journal daily. This is a perfect gap filler idea. Before beginning a new month, I can reflect on the important things I might have missed. 😁
I love this idea!
This is exactly what I needed! So yes, I will be giving this a go, thank you! Just subscribed!
I can’t believe I just found you. I’m just beginning to do creative journaling, and a lot of it has to do with what God is doing in my life, during some very difficult seasons. Your channel is amazing! Thank you for sharing your creativity & your faith, joy & encouragement. ☺️💞
Awe thank you ☺️ welcome to the abiding fam!
I haven’t thought of doing this. I’m going to start.
12 page journaling; novel idea!
