- An update on the IBM Quantum mission to bring useful quantum computing to the world, and to make the world quantum safe. Covering remarkable performance breakthroughs driven by software and hardware innovations, new system designs, roadmap updates, and much more. Led by Jay Gambetta, IBM Fellow and Vice President of IBM Quantum, and the IBM Quantum leadership team.

I'm not quite sure about the carbon capture, but you still have:
1) the pharmaceutical industry
2) total synthesis/pharma, especially when it comes to big-on-volume structures, like proteins (which is excellent timing of you guys with the m-RNAs structures just making baby steps into the world)
3) total synthesis/oil: not all plastics (more big molecules) are recyclable and not all petroleum products are being produced without gas emissions
4) Theoretic/Quantum physic
5) Theoretic/Quantum/Physical Chemistry
and I suppose others, but I started writing this after watching just 2:38 minutes, so I'll just continue. It looks awesome 🤗
IBM is taking the lead on quantum computing, with this headstart you can expect them to dominate this field when quantum computing applications go commercial in the next 4-5 years.
4-5 is very optimistic but it could be
Maybe before C 19 but 4-5 years is far too close with our current supply chain situation. Set us back at least 2-3 years. Back to the original timeline - 2030 is the most realistic
4 years easily

This is why IBM is great, their leadership are kind of awkward but highly skilled engineers, and not snakesin salesman.
looking at you elon musk
@@RealValkor haha
Amazing breakthroughs on so many levels, the world will come to realize their importance in the years to come.
Thank you for the showcase and speech 👍
Outro is to loud, here i am sneaky listning in the night... Outro woke her up.
Ok, seems impressive.
But what most people want to know, show us practical use cases that can be done "now", and that can't be done classically.
Thank you!
Well, Google has demonstrated quantum supremacy, but the problem is not of much practical significance.

From an " techradar" article:

Scientists say they've debunked Google’s quantum supremacy claims once and for all
By Joel Khalili
published August 05, 2022
New paper shows traditional hardware can match the performance of Google’s quantum computer
There are no practical use cases, and won't be for decades. As for the basic quantum advantage demonstrations, the one done by Google was always on shaky ground. Boson sampling is much more concrete (exactly proven to not be done classically), although also not particularly useful.
@@cea6770 True, with the current state of the art, practical applications could take decades, unless there are any breakthroughs in dealing with decoherence or gate fidelities
I gather they have been able to use QC theory to improve some classical algorithms.
maybe osprey can equally prove size does and does not matter
Amazing IBM 🇳🇬👍
Can I compile using GNU Assembler ?
Yes
Great presentation
Very interesting video!!
Hi, Jay Gambetta.. Jerry Chow..
Can it run Crysis?
the real question here is: can it understand Crysis?
Crysis runs you.

I mean that literally LUNATIC
This is what is wrong with the world. Corporations controlling food resources.
IBM controls food resources? Tell me more
@reedsexton3973 All the corporations are fascist in the USA in lockstep together with government for community. I can not post comments. Because of the ignorance of the American people. Send more money to the nazi Ukraine regime. They fly the colors of the Ukrainian ss nazi's from ww2. 8000 stationed in Great Britain after ww2. Your highlighted comment is BS.
@reedsexton3973 IBM HELP THE NAZI'S IN WW2. LOOK IT UP smart guy.
@@doug7180 what does that have to do with them controlling food resources in the present?
@reedsexton3973 I think they have a relationship with Bill Gates. He has not bought some farmland. I don't want to answer you anymore. You can't think for yourself. You are running a Qbasic loop in your brain. Good luck.
🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
I recently saw Sabine’s video claim this is all quite pointless
She also acknowledged that she might be wrong.
Just wait and observe 😉
She explicitly says that big companies will be able to make a profit off of QC (“I have to disagree on the final point because big companies have another way to make money from quantum computers”) so not really sure how a source of income could be pointless for a business.
I expect quantum error correction and coherence times will improve in the next few years
The irony is that the quantum gravity stuff she gets paid for is orders of magnitude more pointless than this.
@@Kalumbatsch tell her that to her face you coward.
Extrapolating from my experiences during the pandemic, the actual State of the Union 2022 can only be the minor part of truth: military grade processors having always been two or three generations ahead of the commercially available/useable ones, is suggesting that covert customers like Pentagon affiliates or NSA et al. for sure already are enjoying quantum supremacy to break all of the conventional encryption not yet broken via standard methods/technology ...
huh...no
@@plafar7887 haha right? I love this way of thinking. Like the people at pentagon NSA are 100x smarter cuz they have military money. But IBM with their billions of investments and computer specialization dosen't...
And like if the military had the tech some people wpuldn't want to get filthy rich by going comercial.
There is not CO2 climate change. What part of a non-deterministic universe do you not get?
You will never have an error free quantum computer. Therefore, this is incredibly wasteful of time, resources, and energy. Classical computers are the only way . sorry IBM! :)
