As a former rr contractor, I can advise the creator you're wrong. The basic model is tested, and customisation lies within the confines of changes which wouldn't have a material impact on the results of the tests. Anything that would has to be tested. All car manufacturers have to crash test a base model, or show testing certification for the parts used, it's the law.
Finally someone who know what the are talking about! Don’t remember the standard in NA but in Europe the ECE specifies crash tests. CCC for China. Without ECE or CCC certification any vehicle is deemed unsafe and will not become road legal. Only exemption applies to „One-of-a-kind“-vehicles
I don't think it's just the base model that has to be tested unless only one engine is available throughout all the trim levels. For example both the base mustang and mustang gt would need to be tested individually
Bill Gates made it where they don't technically have to in the US. Due to him wanting to import a 70s Porsche (can't remember the exact model) and he wasn't able to due to no crash tests at the time. So he lobbied Congress to pass a bill to let him do so, and they did
Rolls Royce does crash test their cars. The thing is, its not a requirement to publish the footage. I think why RR didn't publish it is not to tarnish its image as it crumples like a regular car or think the car is made out of tin can as it is a very luxurious brand and they don't want people to think or dissuade potential buyers. But it is in the law that NA, EU NCAP, APAC require a crash test, both simulated and physical
This video is 100% unequivocally wrong. Every 4 wheeled vehicle that is sold to the public has to have crash tests performed to verify it meets the safety standards of the region it is sold within.
Love the confident incorrectness 🔥 🔥 🔥 There are crash tests done privately by the companies, but this video is referring to the independent organizations - it’s poorly worded but they do specify independent safety ratings. A Rolls is a BMW 7 series underneath (chassis, engine, body panels) which has been crash tested extensively. So no need foor crash testing a Rolls which, technically, is a BMW 760 with a different outer body
Thank you for commenting what I was going to say, but more accurately. During my apprenticeship, I did a lot of maintenance jobs on rolls like basic oil changes/filters/etc and almost all my reference material and manuals was for the BMW but I couldn't remember explicitly which models or chassis it was to say. It's been about 10 years I think. They generally were really easy to work on but had so many things you had to watch out for that other brands didn't but being on a BMW chassis made most of my work painless atleast
It has a different chassis so that would alter the results of the crash tests. And I'm pretty sure RR uses different materials practically everywhere in the cabin for sound insulation than the BMW.
@Jedimack7 this is how we know the RR marketing works, because most of the chassis are shared but somehow the sound deadening, materials, and brans name gives you an illusion it is somehow going to end up much different in a crash.
You’re completely wrong, every single modern production car is crash tested, if Rolls-Royce didn’t crash test their cars they wouldn’t be allowed to sell them.

Rolls-Royce didn’t advertise horsepower on the Silver Shadow. The marketing materials simply said “adequate”. Similarly, there is no need to crash test when you can plainly see that the safety is (more than) adequate.
BMW (aka who owns Roles Royce) also does computer simulated crash tests instead of real ones. This way they can run as many tests as they want for much cheaper.
This is completely false! All manufacturers have to do crash test or show that the parts used have been tested for safety, because its the Law, or they wouldn’t be allowed to sell and be insured..
