I will say that Rodney (unbeknownst to him) is playing a variant here. In the game the batter/pitcher decide which abilities they choose to use AFTER their roll(s).
I really enjoyed this playthrough. I bought the game & 2 expansions for myself today (treat yo self!). This video pumped me up. :) Thanks for these videos, Rodney & Pep.
Hi. Excellent video I have this question If you have 1 or more runners on base, you have to roll dices with every runner, just the batting runner or the leader runner and the batting runner? In the rules it is not explained, but I saw the running phase with the leader runner first and then with the batting runner in other video Thanks
Hey there, I shot this one long enough, I don't recall the rules, and don't have the game handy to be able to check for you. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
The rulebook is not the best assembled one out there. I ended up buying this based on your review, though I have a hunch I've misplayed some of the aspects of it. I have some questions, as a batter, I can't hit a pitch that's a ball, correct? Also, If I roll higher than the pitcher on a strike, it's a hit, and then we roll to see if I'm safe or out, yes? At what point in there do I get to see what type of it it is?
Hey Gregg, our video covered the game as it was before the KS, and although I got my copy of it after backing the KS, I don't recall the specific rules to those situations. You may want to check with the publisher on those questions. I don't typically cover games before they are in their final form, and this was an exception to that. For most other games I do try to provide rules support when I can.
Great video! Thanks so much. Just picked it up. One question. Do you know if you have to "declare" if you're taking the red or white ability as Pep dos above? You can't make that decision after the pitcher has thrown?
Thanks! It doesn't seem to be clear in the rule book. It's an interesting question though and I think it makes sense for fairness. Picking after the rolls and thrown might be to over powered.
Have you played enough games to get a sense of the balance between pitcher and batter (which wins more)? I imagine that would be tough to do. Lots of playtesting.
Dan Shuman I know they've done a lot of ply testing and adjusting player abilities to ensure balance, but I don't think I my sample size of plays is enough to speak authoritatively.
The star ability goes on to say "If the Run is an Out, it is a Single instead" so he was rolling to see if it was a double or a single. I think the card would be better worded as "When King is Safe it is a Double". At least that was my understanding of it.
excuse me at 11:31 the pitcher trow a C5 and the batter roll a 6: why he can't use +1-1 ability to hit the ball?ability need to be choose before dice roll?thank you for answer
+Rigor Mortis Hey Rigor, at the time of this video, the game was still on KS, and I'm not certain what the final retail rules are, so I wouldn't want to answer without checking there first.
+Watch It Played Thanks for fast answer..the minute is 11:20 and dont undestand why he can't use -1 ability to hit the ball..English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes
My understanding, which could be totally wrong is that you have to declare what extra power your taking before the rolls. So he choose to take the reroll not the plus negative one. If he could choose whatever after the roll that would be slightly broken.
You get to regain most of your exhaustion. You set both markers to the second level of exhaustion and they can no longer go above that level (even if you would regain exhaustion).

This is such a perfect concept for a short, simple game.

Whoops!!
I really enjoyed this playthrough. I bought the game & 2 expansions for myself today (treat yo self!). This video pumped me up. :) Thanks for these videos, Rodney & Pep.

This game sure surprised me! I love the "Hitting Guide" card
Me too, very handy to have. After a few rounds it's easy to remember, but great to have for those first couple of games.
Tough outing for Leslie Lou! I think the pressure just got to her there. Cool game :)
Tinkidink She gave it her best shot! Next time... next time!
I love how Pep exactly copied your wave at the start.
TheeForsakenOne That took hours of practice :)
***** I could tell from the out takes. :D
Pep vs Luke the dice rolling will be great
I've been on the receiving end of Lucky Luke's dice rolling! It's crazy!
He is a dice master. Also that game looks like fun.

The Arkham Elders win! Wait, is that good or bad? Great play through guys, love the extra meeples.
After Further Review With Steve Tower Good point? Did Pep just doom the planet?
***** Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

Glad you found it helpful Gregg!

Great game! Well played. I loved how the player behind the bat kept matching you there at the end. #GoodStuff
Wood Planet Gaming Lodge He's a sneaky one!
Indeed. :)
Keep those meeples off the field!!! One of them was streaking!!!
Security!
This almost makes me wanna watch a baseball game... almost
You end up watching any baseball? ;)
Great video! I really wish there was a way to get the promo cards.

Okay. That looks like a fun game.
shocknix Thanks for checking it out!

+Eric Brienza I have my retail version, but I have yet to get it to the table, so I'm not sure :)

Can't wait for this

Fun game!
What happens if your 4th batter is out but that's not your 3rd out?
reinreed In the full game, you choose a starting line up of 6 batters.
What happens If I run out of batters? Should send again a already played batter?
Oscar Alvarado In the full game, you set a longer starting line up.
really fun~!! thx~!!!
Glad you enjoyed!
That last pitch he didn't need to roll for the runner as his star ability was any contact is a double. So he won before rolling? Am I right?

darkstrife237 Dark has it right.

the game needs a 3 sided coin...inside/outside/middle & high/low/middle
What happens if you switch pitchers?
You get to regain most of your exhaustion. You set both markers to the second level of exhaustion and they can no longer go above that level (even if you would regain exhaustion).
Pep MacDonald Thanks for the reply!
Thanks to Pep for the assist!
The blue and yellow crowd seems to be Brewer fans.
HA! Indeed :)
i'm not one to back things on kickstarter, when will this be released to the general public?
Stronghammer91 Not exactly sure. Soon after the Kickstarter backers get it, or around that time at least, I would imagine.
I thought any natural 6 would get a crush it? Pep didn't get one at 11:19
Yes, if rolled against an "S". That was rolled against a "C".
I just picked up the game and it says 1 or 2 players :)
Yep. Hope you have fun playing!
I think i now vaguely understand how baseball works.
DarkPhoenix222 Bonus result to watching the video :)
How did you do that at 1:07 - 1:11? Are you a wizard?
+blah I'll never tell!
