Storm of Blood and Storm of Redemption... you basically just gave me the builds I need for my next two Durge runs. You and Italianspartacus have basically carried my BG3 experience and I'm grateful for that. Much love, Hobozone and congrats on 10k subs!!! Glad to be one of them!! ❤❤
Always felt it was a bit odd that storm sorcerer was the default DU class. The themes and backstory (back in Baldurs Gate) hints a lot towards a rogue/assasion. Or at the very least a Melee class concidering how close and personal the Urge killings tends to be. Although I really like what you did with this build, the Paladin levels really adds to its flavour and adds gameplay variety
Ugh another Dark Urge build that I now want to adapt and play for myself! I think I have 3-4 concepts laying around now for just the White Dragonborn Storm Sorcerer (with one or another multiclass), and several more for the other races available. The combat prowess of Paladin mixed with elemental surfaces is undeniable, maybe enough for a solo run. So it makes me wonder in what encounters it would struggle enough to warrant a different strategy or a team mate.
Anyone else notice in the main menu when you start anew game and select difficulty there is a white dragonborn in the Custom Game picture that looks a lot like Durge in Agility Armour and a two handed sword?
you could swap the boots for the boots of reverberation and free up another ring slot, if you so choose. chilled, fear, electrocuted, wet, and ability drain (tadpole power) will all trigger the boots
Been wanting to do a proper Durge redemption build. My last one in honor mode died in A3 and I wasn't feeling great about my mixed bag of choices anyway. This seems like a good and fun framework to use!
OH GOD BALDURANS HELM IS DIEHARD! In mutants and Masterminds has an advantage called Diehard. If you have Diehard when your condition becomes dying you immideatly stabalize... In DnD term it auto suceeds all three death saves as soon as you hit 0 health.
I looooove Sorcadin for Durge! My first character was a Sorcadin, and when I replay her as Durge I'm going the same route (somewhat different build, starting as an Oathbreaker and only reclaiming her oath after rejecting Bhaal, but still having early Sorcerer levels) I agree that it's very fitting and flavorful for a resist Durge, and you're absolutely right that whether resisting Bhaal or embracing him, Dark Urge is just super good at killing, and as those skills come back to them it's only natural they'd use them.
I might make a Sorcerer/Paladin. Although I'd probably respec and go 5 Paladin then 7 Storm Sorcerer for heavy armour and get Reaper's Embrace as my armour, just for using the Absolute's gear against them and Bhaal
I ended upo building this character as a dex paly running phalar aluve and a shield, we only get medium armor here so having high dex means we can use one of the full dex medium armors for like a 24 total AC while still keeping our spell casting up
I think for this build, starting as paladin and going with that class until you hit fifth level for that extra attack, then multiclassing into sorcerer to really make use of those extra spell slots. Still, this is a neat build that I may try out myself.
What mod are you using to make multiple custom characters? I’ve been trying to hunt for something like that down to have a full custom run and it never occurred for me to ask until now
with the mirror of loss, you can actually get 22 charisma! theres a secondary memory you can get called patriar's memory thats just a straight +2 that stacks with the normal mirror buff
@@HoboZone according to wiki: “If learned via Magic Initiate: Druid, despite listing Wisdom as its casting ability in the tooltip, it will use the casting ability of the class that acquired the feat for both damage and attack rolls. i.e., taking the feat at 4th level in Bard will cause it to use Charisma.” I haven’t tested but it would be interesting…
@@heneilstormcaller2150 I mean, it's still a Sorcerer. If enemies have resistance to non-magical damage, don't hit them with a stick but blast them with a Lightning Bolt and/or a surface to trap them.
@@TelespallaJoe or maybe he likes to strangle enemies with his bare hands. I made a Monk-Sorcerer multiclass so he can deal serious unarmed damage as well. With the Sparkle Hands or some of the elemental Monk gloves that becomes a good alternative for melee combat
@@TelespallaJoe Durge has severe amnesia at this point - plus there's some papers you can find in Act 3 written by Durge himself where he talks about how he dislikes Orin because she's inefficient at killing, implying that quick, efficient destruction is favorable for him. “HE IS THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING” Im not sorry
He's definitely the reclaimer of his name.
7:15 "It's an ice knife storm knife storm stabby stab, makes sense for the Dark Urge."
Sounds like Amazon product description
Just finished the game with the first build. Really felt like canon evil durge. Now I’m going for this one

I love how the NPCs that aren't in combat can just walk through the electrified water with no damage
Hobo my man you gotta stop making me want to restart, you're killing me. 🤣
There was a Durge concept art where he was wearing the default armor Oath of Vengeance Paladins get if you pick that at character creation

There's an argument for Oathbreaker since he was also planned to be that subclass if you want to do full circle
I believe there's also a dialogue you can have with the Oathbreaker knight asking how can our Durge have been a Paladin if he's a child of Bhaal
Niiiiiiice. I love seeing redeemed durge builds!
Resisting urge to do another redemp urge playthrough
Now I know how to spec my first Dark Urge play through!
Looking forward to this

VERY thematically fitting, the Paladin reclaiming their Oath after forsaking Bhaal

This makes me wish we had redemption paladin but we sadly didn’t get it
Love your builds as always. I have an idea for a future series of builds if your interested.
LETSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
For the algy

Full Custom Companions
I would actually recommend nyrulna for this build
♥
Can you make more build like using mage staff to bonk really hard instead of casting. Great build tho

Have you done a Wild Mage Barb/Sorc? Has anyone? It seems like an obvious combo thematically but I no idea how well it could actually work.
I have, it's on the channel.

What about getting Druid initiate for shillelagh and worrying less about the physical attributes? Wouldn’t work?
