But at the same time, be friendly and polite, build relationships with your colleagues and boss (you don't have to be friends but at least pretend to have an interest in their lives), and under promise and over deliver when it comes to work. And set boundaries of course. That's how you succeed in the office workspace.

I worked at an office in which they "trained" me for my job. When I needed help I would ask questions from my coworkers. Apparently I would ask so many questions I was banned from asking more questions. When I would fuck up my job because I wasn't properly trained I would get in trouble for not asking questions. Good times.

I feel this. The person who trained me at my job was helpful for the two weeks they were training, then the second I was on my own it was like I got thrown to the wolves. When I inevitably came across something that didn’t come up during training and had a question about it, they would just flat out refuse to help or elaborate. I’ve been there for a couple years now and always go out of my way to help newer employees when they have problems because I never want them to feel that helplessness.

I've worked in a large office for the past 10 years. It's ok to sometimes hang out with your colleagues, but you should never consider them your actual friends. The moment you get promoted you become "the enemy" and anyone below you in the hierarchy will not wan't to see you outside work anymore, even if you are a good supervisor/manager whatever. Just be polite and friendly, do your job and then go home. To be honest it's completely fine to be that guy that barely speaks with anyone and always has headphones on. No one really cares.

This isn’t always the case. When my friend got promoted I actually asked to transfer to his team as I knew my life would be easier. We stayed friends outside of work. In the companies I’ve worked for, it was better to be sociable and well liked. Those who blended into the background were the first to be let go during layoffs.

@@reanukeeves2k77 Are you sure your friend was happy that you requested to be transferred to his team? Being sociable and extroverted is always a plus in this world if you want to network, but it's not that those minding their own business are doing something wrong to get laid off. You simply had the opportunity to pick your manager and you get special treatment and favoritism because of it, why would you say life is easier otherwise? I mean, good for you, but that's not how it should be. The wheel spins, and if you find yourself to be the "disliked one" in your next job just because of a bad first impression you will see how unfair it can get. You get punished for everything while some people get away with murder. I do have favourites in my team, but I never show it and base my decisions on performance and work behaviour only.

Yea, office jobs are not inherently bad.
Most of the folks who complain about it are people who have issues with socializing or people with very low patience.
I agree, working an office job is boring but so what? Entertain yourself.
Put on a podcast. Put on an audio book. Put music in one headphone while you work.
Folks whine about office politics. Man do you know how easy it is to stay out of it?
Do you know how easy it is for introverts (like me) to stay out of gossip and drama?
If you see a pack of yacking hens in the hallways, it’s super easy to walk past them and keep it moving.
You’re in the middle of a convo and someone starts talking trash about another colleague, then just “aight man, tell me about it later. I gotta get back to my desk”
Oh and god forbid you have genuinely nice coworkers. These dudes will shriek and act like being friendly is overbearing and a crime against their freedom.

Most of your coworkers aren't your friends
-Your managers are def not your friends ( you can be friendly tho/DO NOT overshare)
-Never be the first one to talk smack or criticize.
-Always have your monitors (at least one) where people cant see them at a glans
-Get a Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use with your computer and phone
-Set phone on stand to the side and have privacy screen, you can use it and always look busy. you can also use your own personal browser so they cant track your searches.
-If you take phone calls and have a headset you can connect your headset to stream media.
-Always use company time for bathroom breaks
    - Find the minimum threshold for work and do about 20% more to stay out of the radar.
    - save money and move up or find a better job.
    Good luck!

Many people who work in offices are some of the most miserable people around but most don't leave for various reasons. "Oh, I'll probably be sitting in a cube again, and reviewing work orders and tickets for another business. It wouldn't really be any better..."

Now if you're someone who doesn't want to be a part of that well let me tell you that to earn money you have to work. Even people who are "influencers" have to work and the toll on them can be tough too to always entertain their target audience. It becomes a job at the end of the day.

If you want live happy you have to stick on a few things
1 Do the job / make a business you like: If you don't, then there will be no escape to get another one. Trust me
2 Invest : Investing should be the 1st thing that comes after paying your taxes (or not lol). You can invest in crypto and forex (short term) or you can get passive income with stocks and ETF's (long term).
3 If you buy stuff buy one that you use, not one that you need : With this I mean buy a shirt but don't buy it cus some piece of shit influencer has it. Thats the point of the sponsorship.
4 Enjoy life : Understand that you are lucky to be alive. Be active, go to vacation or gym. Do something that keeps you active while also making you smile. Don't forget to also take time with your family.
5 Get a soulmate : Don't listen to gooffy ass alpha male memes. Sure don't meatride a women but try to find the one. After you do there is nothing more important then her. If she is really the one she will act the same to you.
6 AND THE MOST IMPORTANT IGNORE THE PEOPLE WHO HATE YOU : The only reason people will hate on you is because they are dragging you down to there low lvl.
"We will walk non-stop towards our goal we want on the path we opened!"

He really should not have had the job application website open for everyone to see, especially with his back turned to the door 😆 too bad about his missed shot there also, but he was kinda zoning out from his job, and that's a big no no in office-work. Rip resume/referral most likely.

Oh god. I was feeling a bit depressed about working from home and you just reminded me of the hell the public bathrooms were when we worked in the office circa 2019. It absolutely blew my mind that other adults would leave the bathrooms like that. Thank you for reminding me how good I have it now lol.

I work in an office doing purchasing and I asked my boss for a raise this past week and he just looked at me like I was an idiot and ungrateful.
I previously was looking around and other companies are offering way more money than I’m making.

Yeah same here I'm the only one in office along with my manager because everyone is either on vacation or calls out sick so they can work at home.
