I love how you are expanding beyond just reviewing the books, but actually showing how some of the decor, recipe, etc., are translated into life either at your home, venue, or a walk around town or your neighborhood. I can’t wait for the next review.
I adore the lace look plates featured in the book! It has many lovely ideas. Your presentation of the cheese board made it so appealing and is such a simple yet elegant way to entertain! Thank you!
This is probably my favorite review that you've done. I really enjoyed the video and your kitchen is beautiful! I will definitely be purchasing this book. Thank you!
Inspiring and delicious. Love all your videos especially your simple ways of presenting and reviewing these amazing books. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas.
I personally love table top decor and presentation of beautiful arrangements of food also!! I love you showing these recipes! I love collecting vintage and antique china and antique glass. If you could also present beautiful books featuring tabletop presentations for dinners brunches and English teas I would be there! I need to learn more about English Scottish Teas!! The recipes and tabletop arrangements would be amazing to feature there’s many people that focus on beautiful tables. Thank you for these videos I love love love them!!❤
It's looks lovely and has definitely inspired me to do this next summer. I have the French Country Cottage book and it has beautiful photos to inspire. ❤️🇬🇧
This is a great book. I follow Courtney on Instagram and Pinterest. She shares the most beautiful pictures, I enjoy seeing them. Nice intimate setting you did.
Catching up with this one! I'd purchased this book right after it was released so I thoroughly enjoyed how you previewed it and also shared your own inspired gathering! I will try the baked brie! Thank you!
I have Courtney's books! I've been subscribed to her blog for a few years. I love her photographs. I think she single-handedly inspired many popular trends, particularly the one in using vintage skinny brass candlesticks. I have an old farmhouse table out on my porch right now, inspired by one of the beautiful photos from her blog, the photo which was also included on the cover of this book. I have a French daybed at the foot of my bed, inspired by her red buffalo check covered settee she had at the end of her bed, in her French Country Cottage book. My collection of blush pink linens, gold rimmed glassware, vintage brass stemware, copper cookware and pink/blush Christmas decor were directly inspired by her blogs and books. Great choice for a book review! Great cheese board spread too. I'm going to try that baked brie. Yum! Very inspiring. Thank you!
I love your channel. Funny thing when I first started watching, the camera quality was so good, I didn’t even know you were sharing the pages. I somehow thought the author gave you permission to the photo shoot. (Giggles). I also get what you meant about the MTM show. Ironically she had such small spaces and there was always beauty in them. Ironically, in those spaces, she was able to frequently have dinners and cocktail parties!! The Brady house was an architectural dream in those days. Lastly, I’m sure the secret library was a hoot for the kids! Can’t wait to watch the transformation of the new library and craftsman style home. Well done always!
I just subscribed and enjoyed this video so much. I went in search of The Tartan Topiary following your response to my comment on Kevin Lee Jacobs' cabbage pie recipe! What a small world! Imagine my surprise when the Bellamy mansion was featured in the first of your videos I watched! I have baked brie many times. I usually do the purse-style method, but I always slather the top of the cheese with apricot preserves before covering with puff pastry. Also, I've been a collector of blue and white chinoiserie for fifty years! Love your tole trays! So glad to have discovered you. Looking forward to much more!
Hi Mary, First .. I loved the book review and have followed Courtney's RUclips channel for years. Second..I think you may have made a cheese board or two!!! (LOL) They turned out beautiful!!! I am going to try making baked Brie cheese like you do! It made a nice presentation. I usually gather it in the pastry like a purse. I especially love your table linens. They are a beautiful French color. When our family entertains we always do a charcuterie board and they are always a big hit! I love when you show us a part of your personal life. Have a beautiful day and I will talk to you in the next one. Hugs! :)
Thank you. Your way of baking Brie may be better. There was an excess of breading, but my neighbors did not seem to mind. I've made baked Brie 4 times (every time the same way) and it looks different each time.
I read you used coupons 🙌 I do not and have never came close to your amount, where I shop, Whole Foods and Fresh Market, for Charcuterie and dessert. Trader Joe's could come closer however! I also buy the Champagne and Wines. I guess I best change my tune, and ask others to bring instead! ☺️😉 Happy Holidays
Yes- my neighbors brought the champagne. I went to 2 stores, one was our local grocery store called “Harris Teeter”. They have lots of “buy one get one free” with a coupon. If you don’t want two items your coupon takes half off the one item. I use that often, and like Trader Joe’s they have their own brands that are less expensive than others. I promise it was $40, prior to the puff pastry!
Sorry, but Brie does not have wax on the rind, well I have never seen it with wax on it. The rind is edible. Lovely book and presentation. As usual, I usually end up immediately purchasing the books after your reviews! I have quite a collection now so thank heavens I am creating a new library in our new home. Decorating ideas to come from the inspirations I got from many of the wonderful and beautiful books you have reviewed. As I am a bit of a Francophile love the French influence books you have shared! Thank you.
@@thetartantopiary No not at all. Sorry if it came across that way. I suppose I zeroed in on that because I have come across more than one person who have cut or tried cutting all of the outer portion of the brie off. And thus causing a lot of waste and a Huge mess. 😉 Just mentioned it in case someone not familiar with brie would read. I hope I did not offend you Mary. Really enjoy your channel and looking forward to you and your husband finishing the rest of the deck of cocktail cards, you know, "for educational" purposes! :)
Sadly, there is almost nothing French in the author’s book. A couple of French chairs and that is it. The rest of the photos are flowers, country antiques and country living done in a nice way, but French country hmmm……not really. I liked your baked Brie. Lovely!
I had the same thought. My conclusion was that “French Country Cottage” is her website and franchise, while the book is really about “Inspired Gatherings”. This is just my assumption.
Great example of a what we can do to entertain a small group under $50. Well done!
Thank you, it was a fun game to see what I could purchase on a budget. Lots of deals when I applied my store coupons.
Loved the video: NO matter how beautiful the table, the food, and the surroundings-- it all comes to life with people that we love! Thank you Mary!
I love how you are expanding beyond just reviewing the books, but actually showing how some of the decor, recipe, etc., are translated into life either at your home, venue, or a walk around town or your neighborhood. I can’t wait for the next review.
I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I love this book and refer to it often even when preparing a meal or Saturday afternoon on the veranda for two. Thank you for your inspiration!
Beautiful, Festive, & Simple! Looks delicious!

Thanks for the suggestion. In the coming weeks I will focus on entertaining and Christmas related books. So, I will keep this in mind.
Lovely! I used to drizzle honey over my baked Brie. Yum.
That’s only the third time I’ve made baked Brie- I’ll try honey next time!
@@thetartantopiary Delish either way.
Excellent!

Thank you. Love the treat of you preparing a recipe!!!! Cheers

Looks delicious and the book….I have to order this, it’s beautiful! 🙏
Thanks for the French lessons. That brie is something I want to try.
I don’t know about the French lessons; but the Brie was deiicoius!

Wax on the Brie?
It was from a wheel with a thick rind and I referred to it as wax.
@@thetartantopiary mould (or mold) is accurate.
