I was a female athiest turned Orthodox via the Peterson - Pageu pipeline. For me it was a bridge. But I don't hang around on bridges, I cross them and move on. Similarly I only watched their stuff for like a week. For me it was a crucial part of my conversion, but I don't really watch their stuff anymore. I think either God has not revealed himself to Peterson (which just because Peterson knows the right people doesn't mean God has chosen to reveal himself yet), or he has actively rejected that revelation. I like to err on the side of being optimistic. I don't know his heart. He seems pretty genuine, but only God knows. Of course I've not been watching his stuff so he may be different now.
Edit: I really did not like the sound of that prayer that Russel did personally. I think he is pretty genuine in wanting to turn away from his old stuff. But his idea of Christ doesnt seem right. Hopefully he keeps searching and doesnt stop short.

I’m not a flat earther, but to my understanding flat earthers weren’t on board with 2020. Am I wrong about that?

  • @william_02
    @william_02 3 дня назад +8

I'm probably crazy but I found that putting on the "earth is level" view of the world helped me to read the Bible, and view the structure (physical and spiritual) of the Church in a much more holistic and harmonious way: Perhaps the cosmos is Church-shaped, The heavenly dome above the square earth. Moses built the ark as an image of the cosmos. Orthodox church buildings maps this out for us in a beautiful way.
It also helped me to die to the lies of the world: nasa, scientism, progressivism, evolution..etc.
I’m 100% agree with you guys that it has been weaponized like all other truths. Satan uses truth as the body of a lie, as he did in the garden. So the evil one has turned the "flat earth" community into a side-quest of slinging mud, phariseeism. But at its core, the view of a stationary, level earth with a firmament fits right in with Scripture and Orthodox cosmology.
”flat earth" reinvigorates a lost paradigm thats returns us to our senses and immediate environment. When I considered it, I began to contemplate creation with a new awe: the sun, moon, and stars became deeper revelations of Gods wisdom. It truly brought me to seek God and His Church even more soberly since a level earth cannot be accidental and begs the question of a creator, whereas many atheists and unbelievers use the globe template to justify nihilism and all kinds of weird beliefs.
I don't really geek out over it as much as I used to and I have no ill-will towards anyone who believes anything else. Nothing compares to repentance in the Church. I've got to see my own sins and be obedient to my spiritual father above all, but "flat earth" was some good windex on my worldview. Peace!

My thought is that the Copernicus model prepared people for evolution theory and together with evolution theory people have been convinced that God doesn’t exist. Furthermore, every thing we know about space is given us via nasa, why would I want to believe what an anti Christian organisation says? The fact that everyone now thinks it’s a psyop possibly is the psyop. To dismiss FE outright seems abit arrogant. Another ting to note is that the Copernicus model is new in comparison to a flat earth model.

I'm glad you said this, this describes my view perfectly. Whatever your views on flat earth, I think we can agree that modern scientism & NASA, promote a nihilistic, misanthropic cosmology that aims to make humans feel insignificant and meaningless and promote a worldview completley contrary to the Orthodox Understanding of the world. It seems to be part of this mosaic of ideas about cosmology that are pushed religiously on society from the eartliest ages, like evolutionism, the big bang ect. to start laying the neccecary foundations for transhumaism and the one world religion. But ultimatley like you I just find it kind of cool and fits in with my world view, nothing to argue over or worth spending much time on. Whatever your stance, we know that it is much later than we think and there is nothing we alone can do except to fervently repent of our sins and entrust our whole life to Christ our God. Love the podcast keep up the great work! Peace and love to all my borthers and sisters in Christ.

I became Orthodox from the Jordan Peterson to Jonathan Pageau road. I really don’t understand the negative focus on Peterson.
I was in jail when I recieved 12 rules for life as a gift. I’d been in and out of jail, prison, drug treatment, and juvenile detention since I was 12 years old. I’d been incarcerated for 9 years total. I could not get my life together in any capacity until I read the book. That began a long journey of understanding what it meant to be a real man. Fast forward several years and I am now baptized, married, and hold a leadership position at my construction job. I like to think the turn around is something like a miracle. Of course Christ is the source of all grace but I definitely see Peterson as an instrument of that grace and it pains me to hear the amount of scrutiny I hear on this podcast (which I do love to listen to).
I just hope you can understand that to some people that man is very much respected for upright reasons. God Bless

@@jonnyschaff7068 He was in my sphere of influence when I was first searching into Christianity also. I listened to alot of different things though.
_A lot_ of us in the Orthodox Church are cautious with his material. That can seem jarring to hear that at first, because he _appears_ to be “not against us, so he _must_ be for us”….but those are the ones to be most cautious of.
      The cold hard facts are:
He denies the Gospel, the mysteries, and the Church. Not with his lips, but with his actions. He treats Christianity as a neat _idea_ to talk about. An excercise in philosophy. But he obviously does _not_ believe Christ is the God-Man or he would be dead-sprint _running_ to the Chalice.

An Orthodox engineer from Greece got called in to help NASA with the stranded astronauts so he visited St Porphyrios before he left for America. St Porphyrios told him exactly what to do to get the men back safely and he said nobody would believe him but to persist and eventually they would come around and that’s exactly what happened. I think the solution involved basic things like cardboard and duct tape so it probably sounded stupid to a bunch of top space brains, but in the end it’s what brought them home. It’s in a green hardcover “Book 3” of a set on St Porphyrios, and that volume is all other peoples recollections with their interactions with the Saint

The Apocalypse of Zerubbabel identifies Metatron as the archangel Michael. Metatron is also mentioned in other apocalyptic writings, but is most prominent in the Apocalypse of Zerubbabel.
Metatron is not a figure in the Hebrew Bible, but his name appears in the Talmud. His legends are mainly found in Kabbalistic texts. In Jewish literature, such as the Book of Enoch, Metatron is also mentioned as an archangel, called the "highest of the angels"
I won't believe anyone attributing things to the Archangel Michael because they're probably talking about occult myths or new age "communication with higher entities" AKA demons.

There were hippie rave chicks handing out slick produced pamphlets with all the talking points. Someone spent big money on those pamphlets. They were targeting a vulnerable subsection of the population, easily manipulatable socially engineered young people. I knew right then that this narrative was being pushed to dimwitted people but I still can't figure out exactly why. Not to say that I believe space travel is real, or that NASA tells the truth. i used to be a fan of this show but every show has turned into "i'm not sure that person is a real Christian"... Sad!
