Tiger’s iron swing at 37:10 is one of the best swings of all time with a long iron.
My favorite shot
Thank you USGA for this 2002 US Open
video🇺🇸🐅🇺🇸🐅
Someone wake me up when Sergio is done regripping please.
USGA can you please please do 2006 at Winged foot? Get us ready for the US OPEN
Hahaha
Sergio is still regripping but I'm pretty sure he's about to swing any second
Even Johnny Miller was timing him each time he was addressing the ball 😂
@@jamesroboyle unpopular opinion but I always liked Johnny Miller as a broadcaster. I hate ass kissing announcers in any sport. He’s a major champion. He can rip someone if he wants. He isn’t a hack who’s never broke 90
Once again thanks you very much USGA another superb upload, very much appreciated.
I consider the 2002 US Open as a classic, for the very simple reason that it is the 1st time, I believe, that a major was played in a public golf course. I could be wrong. But it once more signified that golf can, and will be on a another level of acceptance by the people who once considered it an elitist game. And for Tiger Woods to win it, not by a mile, but in close contention with the best in the field, is truly remarkable. The field did not give him an inch, some commented he was lucky, to me, he's just that good. When pressure is on him, he switches to the next gear. He's got a lot of reserve.
Tiger won at Pebble 2 years before this, pebble beach is public
@@lukeanderson7505 thank you for the information. I did not know that. I was at Pebble Beach and I thought that it was a private club because it close to Carmel and other luxurious communities. My apologies.
On another note, pebble beach is $625 a round, Bethpage is $85
@zakfoley-reis2932 well there you go. That's a lot of pebble difference. 😂
Hard to believe Tiger wouldn't win another major for close to 3 years after this one. I know the swing coach/change was the big reason, but still Tiger was so dominant at this point, it seemed like he could just accidentally win a major or 2 during that drought.
Thank you, USGA⛳️
Tiger's swing sure looked good here.
Thank you so much for this upload. Great to watch Tiger winning his 2nd US Open. Would it please be possible to show tiger’s front nine.

LISTENING TO THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE AS TO WHY COMMENTATORS ARE NOT NEEDED.
That look on Tiger's face at 38:25 is the look of raw determination. Back in the late 1990's, early 2000's whenever you saw that look on Tiger's face you might as well pack your clubs and head to the house, because there wasn't a man on the face of the Earth who could have beaten him back then whenever he had that look. He was a a beast in his prime.
I still remember the 2000 US Open like it was yesterday...... THAT performance was the biggest bloodbath in the PGA's history when he dominated so badly that he finished 15 holes ahead of 2nd place. It wasn't even close. He had that look that day as well.
Tiger woods is the best golfer on the planet since Jack Niclaus and Ben hogan , he wins everything respect
20:29 Sergio and his 21 waggles on the 12th. Yikes!
Like if you skipped through to find all of Tiger’s shots (Maybe watched a few of Phil’s)
Does anyone know why Sergio waggles his club 21 times by my count prior to hitting the ball and it goes OB in the mud on the 12th hole. It's difficult to watch him play with the waggle problem.
Him and Speith's routine drive me nuts. Take a practice swing line up the shot and hit the ball, rinse repeat.
Watching Sergio jerk off his grip for 20 mins before making his shot is absolutely maddening.
Take a shot every time Sergio regrips.
i wonder if that was the first and last time tiger ever travelled in a ford freestar lol
Sergio's waggle is so ridiculous haha
Any chance you can do the 2012 us open ? Seems to be a forgotten championship almost.
That was the Webb Simpson Open, right? I remember that one. I thought it was a good one, but it never gets replayed or talked about. There was an amateur or really young guy in one of the final groups on Sunday. He fell out of contention early and never got it going, but was still a good tournament imo
@@newtoncountry5937 Stay tuned!
NewtonCountry it was Jordan Spieth’s Texas teammate Beau Hossler
@@usga We'd prefer the black bars on the sides for old ones that aren't shot in widescreen instead of the zoomed in blurry style. Just a suggestion. Very appreciative of the free content. Stay safe.
There’s a different sound when a great ball striker hits the ball.

You really couldn’t have edited out an hour long rain delay?
Speak for yourself. I want to see every US Open rain delay through history uploaded into a compilation video. Giving the people what they want.
@@wordgifts facts. if it means tiger with an umbrella, and taking shelters into minivans, while Phil practices putting on the course... Im all for it.
Could you do 2006 next?

Miss the sound of those early 2000s Titanium drivers. Today's carbon fiber "Thwack!" does not have the same appeal.
Look up 'bland' in dictionary and you'll find Maggert's picture.
"It's just not a fair fight. When 99% of them can''t do that."
"lets take a look at roger" i was rolling
I'll never know why someone didn't made Tiger only swing 90% with his driver.
Sergio 23 dips at the ball before hitting.
Hell forget how many close ones Phil has I wanna know within those matches how many putts does he have that lipped out or barely missed that would have changed everything and I’m mainly thinking of the final round i can’t imagine all 4 rounds
Tiger had the career that Phil otherwise would have had if Tiger never existed. As it is, Phil has 45 Tour wins and 6 majors competing during Tiger’s reign. It isn’t a stretch at all to think Phil would have had Tiger-like numbers if Tiger had never been on the scene.
@@dorothygale1104
It's an individual game, no one stopped him from making good shots!!
When Tiger doesn't shoot nobody blames Phil!
Whew Sergios regripping😴😩😴😩
I skipped directly to about 1:30:00 to just see the last couple holes. as I was reading comments I read yours and as I read it Sergio regripped probably 15 times
I'm not sure what you call what Sergio does when addressing the ball. But I call it waggling. It seems he waggles somewhere between 20 and 30 seconds before striking the ball. And it seems he concentrates more on his waggling, than his line. Later in his career, he got rid of that excessive waggling, and became much better at hitting the ball where he wanted it to go. I know he was a Seve fan, and Seve did waggle before his shots, but I think that Sergio should have never tried to copy Seve's waggle.
he wasnt copying Seve he just couldn't get comfortable with his grip. I went thru the same thing and it was really a pain in the ass. I couldn't imagine being a pro and having to deal with that.
Jv woods Same here. I’ve had this problem for two months now, and it just came out of nowhere. It’s a mental block and will flare up during a round or just be there from the first warmup swing. I have to force myself to a stronger grip and to make a simple takeaway, but sometimes I JUST CAN’T DO IT. It’s getting better, though, but I kinda feel for Sergio here, even if it’s annoying to watch.
21:24 I knew that shot was going to be bad too much movement and thinking before the shot
We should be watching you next time!
Be hard to concentrate with all the crowds and there yelling and moving, a lot of it seems amazingly disrespectful and selfish by the crowd.
. 0:42 1:17 3:30 4:10 weather delay 15:48 22:27 33:05 . 37:13 45:46 54:20 56:38 59:36 1:07:21 1:11:59 1:13:51 1:14:17 .
Boy, they were so thirsty for a Sergio/Tiger rivalry weren't they? Lmao
They were thirsty for anyone to compete w/ the GOAT.
It came to none
Depressing having to hear Garcia referred to as "the Spanish phenom" when all he was was phenomenal at was disappointing expectations, finally capturing his first (and only?) major just prior to both is hair and teeth beginning to fall out.
He would have been good had he not been obsessed with Tiger, in a bad way!
funny that these hosts are not anywhere around golf anymore lol

I think Tiger by this Open was using a Nike driver. But still had the Titleist small headed 3 wood. surprised he never snapped the heads off of those clubs. 1:36:52 Lefty being the consummate pro but behind that smile, sick of runner up speeches/how can I beat this guy. then next year he dropped the inferior equipment comment, Lol. thus the stern rivalry emerged. hey man, ya gotta do something ;) This Open was what? Tiger's 8th major I think.
God is great, he couldn't afford to play on country clubs. Now he can afford to own a country club!
263 yards w an iron in the US Open lol
Sergios re gripping was bad....20:32
24 regrips only to pull it
20:29 ff. ....watch Garcia grip and re-grip for half-of-eternity...
a maggot came 3rd
The galleries here, shout and scream wildly, immediately after just about every shot. They have no clue whether it’s a really good shot, in terms of where it’s going, or where it finishes. No true knowledge or appreciation of the game of golf, the complete opposite of the British Open fans, who only applaud really well executed golf shots, and show deserved respect to these great players.
I suppose it’s to be expected when on the PGA Tour, you will often hear the irritating comments such as: “You’re the Man” or “Get in the Hole”.
