Date Movie is a 2006 American romantic comedy parody film written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. It was released on February 17, 2006 by 20th Century Fox and stars Alyson Hannigan, Adam Campbell, Sophie Monk, Tony Cox, Jennifer Coolidge, Eddie Griffin, and Fred Willard.
A parody of the romantic comedy film genre, the film mostly references My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Meet the Fockers, Hitch, Legally Blonde, and Bridget Jones's Diary.
Seltzerberg are so bad that they make Uwe Boll look like Michael Mann or Steven Spielberg.
Now that's saying something.
Even Neil Breen films are better and more funny than this shit and the rest of their shitty movies
This was their first film they wrote and direct on their own after they stopped co-writting the Scary Movie films. That being said, Date Movie is the start of their cancer spreading trash.
All signs point to them writing virtually nothing from Scary Movie. They apparently only got credited as co-writers due to some type of contractual obligation. I'm pretty sure they probably came up with next to nothing, and the better jokes probably came from the other writers.
Date Movie was horrible. However, the worst from them was yet to come, which is terrifying.
Jason and Aaron even admit their films suck on this film's commentary lmao, some of the worst films and directors ever, I only smirked once had one of their humor and it was their Expendables parody in Starving Games
You're a Buffy fan? I actually didn't mind Alyson Hannigan on How I Met Your Mother.

I am ashamed to admit I used to like this, also yeah the whole thing about Alysson's character being overweight is supposed to be a Bridget Jones and Shallow Hal reference.
You know what, come to think of it, that movie poster for this 'film' you have up in this video is fairly apt. You may end up crying after "Date Movie" is over...but it's not for the reasons you think.
I'm gonna need an Alka Seltzer if I watch this and this movie did make "dated" references.
This rant is definitely funnier than this movie!
I laughed in this one video more than I probably would with all these movies combined.

Selzerberg's first breakthrough of creating these non-stop horrible unfunny spoof schlock that they wrote and directed starting with "Date Movie". Parodying Very Popular Romantic Comedies of the 2000s. And what's sad is all the talended actors involved in this project, earning more salaries than ever! Of course, being at "#1 at the Box Office" when better movies could of earn that spot!
These Seltzer ‘Movie’ movies..... Are the absolute WORST comedies! Not only the worst comedies but KILLED parodies..... Yeah, the Scary Movies got poor, but those had jokes, the ‘____ Movie’ by these guys don’t have jokes, just references and gross out gags... If you can call them gags
I think what what made Scary Movie work for Seltzerberg is that they were Co-Writers of Scary Movie when it's just them as the only writers it sucks these guys should be banned for ever making a movie ever again
Very minimal writers. It was very much a Wayans product, which those recent spoofs have been terrible too. So even then, not like it worked out for them, they HELPED write it, but not much. Not really enough to call it one of their products Everything Post-Scary Movie, by Seltzer/Friedberg has been the absolute BOTTOM of the comedy barrel and an ATROCITY of the term ‘spoof’
I saw this in theaters as a kid and I thought it was hilarious back then. Now I look back on that and wonder what was I thinking?! 😳

I rented this on DVD from Blockbuster as a kid (probably saw it when I was too young) but the shotgun scene and restaurant scene were the only scenes I laughed at

Jello and the Jinkers were the only funny characters in this painful unfunny watch Epic Movie and Disaster Movie are great comedies though, herself and her sister are adopted. The Starving Games is bad too

The only thing I liked about this movie was Sophie Monk's sex appeal. And that's about it. I honestly think I've seen train crashes funnier then this.

I never knew people hated this flick, I was always enjoyed It. But then again I like most parody flicks people hate or find unfunny I guess.
It’s fine that you like it but I will never understand why some people like this shit it’s fucking atrocious how is this movie even funny or clever it’s just random characters from movies and shows that were popular at the time just doing random unfunny shit. There’s plenty of much better Spoof Movies you should watch instead of this watch Airplane 1&2, Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs, Hot Shots 1&2, Loaded Weapon 1, Naked Gun, Austin Powers, Johnny English, Shaun Of The Dead, MacGruber and plenty of more again it’s fine if you like this movie but I’m just mentioning much better spoof movies
