I’ll never forget back in the 80s when this hit the radio. I woke up to my am clock radio and I knew right away I was hearing RVZ. Couldn’t believe there was a new Skynyrd tune on the radio. That album “Legend” kicked ass.

I'm not an actual trucker, but the work truck is a little somethin sumth'n... Even if I just move it 50yds or drive it between sites, I sing this Truck Drivin' Man song. Another thing I do is say, "the backwards man, the backwards man" from Freddy Got Fingered when I reverse it for set up. I sing Call Me The Breeze when I drive with the windows open...all too silly right?

It was recorded before the wreck, and released after... So sometime before 1977
It was recorded as a demo in 1973 and released in 1987 on the outtake album “Legend.” It was apparently too “country” for a band being introduced to rock audiences and was never recorded for the debut, according to the 1991 box set liner notes.
