Hi Dai. I know you read these but of course I don`t expect you to be able to inclined and/or able to respond though getting replies from people like you , James Weeks and Chaya Czernowin has been inspiring to say the least. Twenty years ago I used to do voluntary work for a woman whose father had been high up in bomber command in WW2. She was slowly going blind and we used to go walking in Kensington park in the early evening usually between seven and nine. Once we passed a Chinese looking woman by the small lake next to Kensington Palace. The Chinese woman was sitting near the water and my friend announced that the woman was a ghost. We looked again and the Chinese woman vanished. My friend was unshaken but amused. I was a bit confused. The "apparition" had smiled at us and at the water. Which she seemed to have been contemplating. Gesturing with. I later recalled that her movements were actually levitational although I had not consciously noticed this fact in the moment. Strangely she was dressed in a very similar manner to the pianist here. A beautiful white outfit. Which was why my friend could see her. When I saw Mami slowly walking to the upright at the end it suddenly reminded me of that evening.

interesting story, thank you for writing here. I know Chaya and I don't know James, though I think, I am guessing, once, I was sitting right next to him, in the hospital Antenatal section, in waiting room :) (he was busy marking some musical scores, and I was too shy to say hello) - of course I know his works.
Anyway this concert was....so much riding on it, and it was August 2020 (if you remember 2020....), Martha Argerich was going to play it - though she couldn't travel there to play, so Mami who is a friend, who is from Hiroshima, her family piano tuner WAS the man who restored this Akiko's Piano, to me, it was destined for Mami to premiere this concerto. (You can imagine, summer 2020, nobody knew the concert can go ahead, though 2020 August was 75th anniversary of the a-bomb in Hiroshima, in a way, you can't do it in 2021 or any other year....).
There was a plan to be played in UK in 2020 November, obviously postponed...to....we shall see...
thank you for listening and commenting.

this is everything that I believe that all the greatest and most generous music does and ever could do before the world as we have waited for it is actually transmogrified into something not too unlike a dancing plasma which pertains to our invisible and loving God. as such it changes the shape of all shapes.
