the game hints about it by putting you into green mode, when green undyne points out you cant escape and the flee option is gone. so when you become red again that's your chance to run. she usually turns you green after running away from her but i think theres a maximum amount of times she will turn you green though so if you got them all out of the way earlier you can continuously run

This battle between Undyne and the player is a prime example of a diffuculty spike. Not only is this battle the first true hard boss fight(and by that I mean flee), but also a test of the players reflexes and reaction time to bullet-dodging. Here, bullets become insanely fast in a very short time, forcing the player down a steep learning curve they are forced to ease into. If you died during this fight, you should have no shame, because it surely took me a while.
To be fair she is th first boss who is actually trying to kill You Toriel was just testing You and is holding back Papyrus wants to capture You not kill You and is Nice enough to just let You go if You Lose 3 times also is holding back Mád dummy is a mini boss Undyne is always giving her all in the fight to get her goal which is to kill You / protect the monsters

When I fled from Undye I was like: “Oh crap I can flee from this fight? Cool!” Little did I know I saw the expansion mark over Undye and knew to RUN! As I kept running Undye was catching up and I literally was like: “RRRUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN!” She caught up and the Fleeing button was my option lol! After running I saw Sans Sleeping so I dashed at him mashing the A button saying: SANS SANS SANS HELP! I NEED YOUR DAMN HELP!” He didn’t wake up so I ran; after that I saw Undye trying to talk to him and I laughed so hard after that 🤣! This game is great!
you know, as much as I like this boss, I would REALLY apreciate it if the game gave more of a hint that you had to run away. I FOUGHT UNDYNE LIKE 15 TIMES!!!!!

Ok So to those people who are still stuck at undyne's fight, here are the best ways to beat her the easy way. 1. Prepare some food first- you must have food first before battling undyne when it's your first time. Otherwise the battle may be pretty hard to you. 2. Memorize her attacks as well- actually all you need in this battle is *Time reaction and patience*. 3. When in the battle, you cant run if you're green right? So even if undyne makes you red, still, don't try to run. Don't worry, if undyne hyperventilates, then that's the greatest chance you can get to flee. Now when you flee in the battle, just keep running, and when you encountered undyne's attack again, don't worry, she can't make you green anymore(if you hyperventilated undyne) now just go for your life and run😊✌ Key to success at undyne'a fight: 1. Hyperventilate undyne 2. Prepare food 3. Mercy

The reason Undyne melts at her death is because she's too determined to die, in which she refuses and dies. If a monster is to be injected with Determination, they are likely to melt and die
I mean i challenged her about 35 times now, hm maybe if i plead 15 times or so? Add 10 deaths before figuring out this is the ONE battle in the game where running is useful and you got my first playthrough. I never tried hitting her though, still was traumatized from the first time in tried to Mercy Toriel that way. (Asgore took a while)
This took freakin FOREVER. But I finally won, without fighting of course. I just wanted to get to Hotland. I used my HP reviving items wisely. Just like in Zelda Ocarina of Time, if I died during a boss fight, those pink fairies in the jar would automatically revive me, lol. But you only have 3. And I'd be lucky if I could find some while smashing a pot during the final Ganon fight.
I'm just playing this and this is such a perfect boss fight, when she callas You out for the stuff you have done so far (she called me for killing the dognknight couple) gave me the Goosebumps, then the music revealed that i, was the bad guy and the hero was going to get me. Peak game design
