Great idea ☺️ Thanks for the mention ✌️ Some great choices. My 10 are: 1. Elvis Presley - Tomorrow Is a Long Time 2. Jimi Hendrix - Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window? 3. Bob Marley and the Wailers - Like a Rolling Stone (I think they called it just Rolling Stone with Bunny on lead vocal) 4. Graham Bonnet - It's All Over Now Baby Blue 5. Olivia Newton-John - If Not for You (I love Olivia and she is one person I’d love to meet..... along with Bjork) 6. Rage Against the Machine - Maggie’s Farm 7. Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower 8. Elvis Presley - Don't Think Twice It's Alright 9. UB40 and Robert Palmer - I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight 10. The Byrds - Mr Tambourine Man Manfred Mann, Cher and Ministry come close. I also have a feeling T-Rex might have covered Dylan..... ?
Pretty good list kiolasmash !!! I love Elvis version of "Tomorrow is a long time" !!! Excellent version !!! Also really like Hendrix version of "Can you please crawl out your window ?" !!! "If not for you" by Olivia Newton John is pretty nice too, always loved her voice and she looks like a pretty nice person too !!! You're right, T-Rex did a cover of "Blowin' in the wind" !!! Thanks a lot !!!
Good idea, Marc (and kiolasmash). Nice guitar playing too! In addition to the EXCELLENT choices you offered, here are 10 more that I love: The Band's version of "Tears Of Rage" (which is actually cowritten by Richard Manuel so maybe it doesn't count as a fully Bob Dylan song!) The Band's version of "I Shall Be Released" Cher's version of "All I Really Want To Do" (probably my favorite version of this song! this was just Cher, without Sonny (except he was in the studio as producer, of course, haha)) Peter Paul & Mary's version of "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" (one of the first Dylan versions I ever heard) Joan Osborne's version of "The Man in the Long Black Coat" (lover her voice) Olivia Newton John's version of "If Not For You" (haha, yes I kinda like her version) PJ Harvey's version of "Highway 61 Revisited" (crazy version!) Pearl Jam's version of "Masters of War" (Vedder goes a great job) Cat Power's version of "Stuck Inside of Mobile..." (love her unique voice) Neil Young's version of "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" (perfect song for Neil to sing and play)
Good choices Jeff !!! You're right, "All I really want to do" was performed by Cher (without Sonny) !!! I think I was a bit confused cos she performed the song with Sonny in a video but you're right she "recorded" it alone !!! Also really like Pearl Jam's version of "Masters of war", Joan Osborne "The man in the long black coat", The Band "I shall be released"...And you're right Olivia Newton John's version of "If not for you" is pretty fine too (also really like George Harrison' s version) !!! All good choices !!! Thanks !!!
Great video Marc
Thanks a lot Brody !!!
