I had the honor of working in Motion Capture during this time and worked with Robbie during his time at our EA Sports studio. There's a "making of FIFA 2000' video that I can be seen at the computer around the :46second mark.
That was always the one thing I hated about the old FIFA's. My first, REAL FIFA was FIFA '98 RTWC on the N64 and from there, through to about FIFA 2002 (I think).. I don't know, I stopped playing FIFA for a few years then and PES became my "go to" for football games. But from around '98 to '01'ish, I always remember and hated the number limit on the amount of transfers you could make. Why was there a limitation? I've no idea.. But I still have EXTREMELY fond and nostalgic memories of FIFA 2000 on the PlayStation. What I would give to be able to go back and play it all again. What with modern day PC's not being able to run the game now, simply because the game is 20+ yrs old. And sure, there are emulators.. But they're just not the same as playing the "raw" game. But right now, I'm playing FIFA 2001 (with Paul Scholes on the cover), on the PCSX2 emulator. I would say that FIFA 2000 and FIFA 2001 were probably my fondest FIFA's, still to this day.
You forgot the classic teams and stadium, that means this FIFA 2000 has the Best Football Players in history of any videogame. From Puskas and Di'stefano passing through Beckembauer and Cruyft and finishing with Pele and Maradona. And the greatest teams, like England 66, Brasil 58, 70, or Holland & W. Germany 74, and Argentina, Manchester, Independiente, Santos, Inter, Bucharest, etc etc etc. And you dont have to buy cards for any player ;-) And taking in count you have best versions of Zidane, Ronaldo, Batistuta, Beckham, Owen, Guardiola, etc. This FIFA was epic! A renewed version nowadays would explode the market if made. Great memories, thanks for the vid!
maybe i'll give this game another shot on the PC... i used to have it but i mostly played with the classic teams, because i just loved the idea of adding them, what with it being the edition that marked the turn of the century and all. 1. there already was the IGM feature on FIFA 99... but it was also quite underused. 2. those cheats were fun... 8:12 is just priceless! 3. that trophy ceremony isn't too bad actually, i mean for the PS1 it was serviceable. only makes me wonder why they took that out of the game for such a long while. these little touches always help immerse us more.

I would love it if fifa created a mode where you could do a custom season of any era in the premier league and they would have the managers and strips and players of every team in that season or era
This game is a shame: I still remember the trepidation in December 1999 to be able to use it and then have a great disappointment. Many football horrors of this game. Being Italian, I'll list some things that were not right: for example, why Milan misses Gattuso ??? And Simone Inzaghi in Lazio? Not to mention the formations: we start from Bari, where we do not understand why the late Francesco Mancini, the role of goalkeeper (in that season played with the Bari all the league games) is deployed left back!In Juventus in defense we have, Francesco Scardina, player aggregated by Juventus youth teams but from 1998 to 2001 he played zero matches with Juventus: why is he even among the owners? While Montero that in the season 99-00 played 40 season games is among the reserves, absurd! Even more ridiculous situation in Milan: the holder of the defense is Carlo Teodorani, who was bought by Milan in 1999, but remains with the Rossoneri only a few months, in September 1999 does the suitcases, destination Ternana: why is the owner instead? Maximum respect for the players Scardina and Teodorani, mentioned above, but it is absurd to line up among the owners, of two of the most representative teams of Italian football, like Juventus and Milan, two players that the field with these clubs, they have not even seen with the smallest!
