Think whatever you want, but both were very unfortunate in this tournament... Rybakina with the shoulder problem, which she took during the match with Stephens and the super long match with Kasatkina and Samsonova with the two matches, which she played on same day (the one, of which lasted almost 3 hours against Sabalenka)... And now Samsonova has less than 2 hours to rest for the final against rested Pegula... Such a shitty organisation from Montreal, reminds me of the Rome one... I really hope Samsonova to make a miracle and to win the title (although i respect Pegula) just because of the horrible schedule, which she had...

You mean you'd rather have Pegula win easily vs Samsonova so you can prove your point...😄
Tell us what the tournament organizers were supposed to do?
I understand your concerned, but this is not about players' health, it's a business and it's more about the money involved, which the players benefit from-
On Friday they needed Center Court for all 4 Quarter finals, with all the tickets sold -
As the head of tournament said earlier this week, eventually they'll have a retractable roof installed, that should prevent this type of unfortunate situation

Unfortunately there was like a day and a half of rain delays throughout the tournament. Organizers can't extend these time slotted schedules. Personally if I was a tennis official I would allow Samsonova the right to 'dope' in such an unfair circumstance 😀

Had to be bittersweet for Samsonova winning this semifinal against damaged Rybakina but then knowing she only has 1-2 hours to prepare for the final showdown against a well-rested Pegula. Unfair schedule to force back-to-back matches instead of bumping the final to Monday. Yeah we know about schedules to keep and sponsors to obey, etc. but it resulted in a disappointing anticlimactic baguette & bagel loss for exhausted Samsonova. Congrats JPeg but boo Montreal tournament management. Next time buy a roof so you don't have to shove important matches so close together due to rain.

The schedule is all over the place it's hard to follow. Anyhow good to see Samsonova in another finals and a chance to get a singles title for this year. Her road is pretty convincing beating no.2 seed Sabalenka, then Bencic who she lost to earlier this year in a final, and then beating Rybakina. Pegula's road is pretty strong as well beating Gauff and no.1 seed Swiatek. Hopefully it'll be a more exciting final to watch compared to the semis.
Btw after the really close and competitive match between Rybakina and Kasatkina ending almost at 3am, seems like Rybakina is just exhausted with shoulder problems and she isn't playing like her in the 2nd and 3rd set of this match. Hope she rests up for US Open.

As a fan of Rybakina, I'm so sad. However, managing both the injury and the mental aspect is crucial, and by surpassing that hurdle, she could go beyond the true "big 3" and potentially become No.1. I'm concerned about whether a complete recovery is possible just before the US Open. I believe the Rybakina we saw in the first set is her authentic self.

It turned out that the section of the draw where Rybakina, Sabalenka, and Samsonova were competing happened to be relatively weak. The winner of the second part of the draw, Pegula, who had endured challenging matches against both Świątek and Gauff, sailed through Samsonova's challenge with ease.

The low quality of many matches in this tournament could be attributed to two or three factors. First, the players have to adjust their strokes to the new and much heavier Wilson ball being used for the first time in this tournament. Second, the high humidity makes the ball even heavier. Then third, and not to be overlooked is the frequent rain delays in matches which messes up with players' rhythm.

It's a good thing this tournament can finish at all cause like 2-3 days ago they said it could rain the whole weekend. It's not that bad. Sometimes you have to play two matches in a day, maybe the can put them at different times, make a more of a rest time, but it's like that. I don't remember which German player had two games with over 6 hours in Warsaw couple of weeks ago. We need to stop making excuses for players and treat every lost games of our favourite like an end of the world. "oh, she was injured, schedule sucks, rain etc". That may be the point in the beginning but than you have to play and it's on to you to show something. I would say that players themselves, some of them, don't like to make such excuses. You play bad, you suck, fine, it happens, you can't win every time. Swiatek, Sabalenka and Rybakina are top players this year, but they can't win all the time.

In semis she played Swiatek who played against Muchova game that was interrupted twice, playing 2 sets early morning and finishing late evening its like playing 2 matches same day, very exhausting mentally. Similar situation with final, she's going to play Samsonova who obviously will be tired after semi with Rybakina

Rybakina really played very poorly in this match. In fact, the third and second set may have been her worst performance in her WTA level career. Having said that, she obviously had physical problems preventing her from performing well. She had three consecutive double faults in a game she was leading 40-15 in the second set to gift Samsonova a break. I bet she had never ever double-faulted 3x in a row in her career. I have been watching her matches since 2020 and she rarely ever makes two double faults in one game. That alone would tell you she was playing hampered.

The WTA praises itself in its bio's. "Founded by Billie Jean King in 1973 on the principle of equal opportunity, the WTA is the world leader in women's professional sports."
In light of the recent mistreatment -- and outright abuse -- of its athletes in Montreal (and past scheduling nightmares this season) they should be ashamed for considering themselves a 'world leader in sports'. Even more, they should be dragged across the court for their silence and inaction in addressing players' health concerns.
Instead of watching players grind their bodies into burning muscle masses and suffer unnecessarily to get through a Semi, then a Final a couple hours later, WTA, Billie Jean King, et al, should be placed on their knees at Centre Court to explain their inept and unconscionable behaviors.
Where were WTA rep's, the sponsors, and Billie Jean King the other morning when Rybakina and Kasatkina were suffering at 3:00am?
Even the ancient Romans realized they had to give some degree of healthcare to their sacrificial subjects if they wanted to present an adequate show in the Coliseum.
