- When Andrew Middleton took some of the Dali crew members shopping a few days before they sailed out of the Port of Baltimore, he didn't think he'd see them again, as they began what was supposed to be a month-long trip to Sri Lanka.
Two months later - they're back where they started.
Middleton was granted access to the ship today, as it sits in the Seagirt Marine Terminal. He was greeted with smiles from the crew members, including the ship's captain.

Yeah, right!!!
Millions and millions of people stream across the border constantly, and Customs is worried about 21 Sailors that don't have a visa???? WTF is wrong with that picture???
Cause they are witnesses... and 6 people died
Excuse me!! They have maritime law . Don't label them as having no visa's.
You are obviously ignorant of the work these guys do.
Just because they have copper complexion, you have decided they are illegals. Sorry to disappoint you.
Typical Trump behaviour.
@@karensayer3089 quit the ignorant Karen talk, Karen. Who brought up race? Why does your woke ignorance cause you bring up Trumps name? There are reasons you are not privy to why/how visas are granted and what rights and decisions are allowed.
These guys have skills and really do not want to be parasites..
@@karensayer3089 You are a ray-ciss!
Exactly. God Bless You
Thanks so much for Your Caring Heart for the Crew .
How about showing up-to-date video of the ship. Has the cargo begun to be transferred to the dock to the two other ships we, the followers, were told would happen? 🤔
Hi - reporter who did the story here. I'm not sure where you heard about transferring cargo to two other ships. From what I've gathered, they are unloading the damaged containers but leaving the rest of the containers on the ship because they need the weight to sit low enough when it travels under the Bay Bridge on its way Norfolk, Virginia - where it's going for more extensive repairs. From there, it's unclear what will happen with the cargo. The shipping company said they don't have a plan for that yet; they're focused right now just on the continued debris removal and getting shore leave for the crew.
RUclips search for "Live stream Bridge Collapse Clean-up | Baltimore, MD" The live stream is of bridge site, but the Dali is visible at the dock in the back ground. It looks to me like they are currently removing the debris from the deck. Maybe after that is done they will start to remove the undamaged cargo.
@elizabethworthington9228 THANK YOU for your story, and this update! Can you please get some pictures of the damaged containers that are being offloaded?
I am a Merchant Marine, so I appreciate your time and effort to cover the crew situation! I'm sure the crew will appreciate a chance to get out and go to a Wal-Mart store and have a good meal somewhere!
I work as a cargo surveyor. I can tell you with confidence that most, if not all, vessel crewman spend at least 6-8months on a ship. Some with out even touching land because of immigration/visa issues. Simply put, if they do not have the temporary clearance to disembark to land, they remain on the ship. They are at sea for months on end sometimes. Trust me, they are all used to being on their ship for long periods of time. Some will go immediately to another ship after their contracts are up. You have to understand that most of the crew man are from very poor backgrounds. They constantly work so that they can constantly provide for their families back home.
Why are they thinking this is a terrorist act!!! Merica🥴🥴🥴
the crew is smply treated as if they were under arrest. Not everybody in the crew is responsible for the accident.
Shipping crews are often required to remain on board for upwards of 4-5 months at a time. It's part of the job. Why do media hacks seem to think this 2-month stint is some kind of torture or harassment or imprisonment??? OMG
They have a multi-million dollar ship and cargo to look after, and systems to keep running. The crew never just goes home when a ship's tied up.
the ukrainian captain is .
Better to be safe than sorry!
They are under a firm of house arrest until the investigation and possible personal charges are completed. The ships failures will be a person's responsibility.
Great to see you Elizabeth Worthington from a viewer on WNEP TV wew miss ya.
The crew should be landed. They can wait on dry land until they are given tickets back to India.
The pilot should also be investigated along side the maintenance and repair crew who cleared the ship for sea journey.
Alot of questions need to have answers
Any super-sized container vessel, especially with two superstructures, are sophisticated and complicated in terms of steering and governing. Limited crew, fatigue, knowledge of equipment, and ability to use that equipment all playes part in this disaster .
That's why there are federally mandated laws, safety regulations and protocol to prevent such a catastrophic tragedy from happening.
This was an inferior quality South Korean cargo ship that had problems.
@@yo2trader539 9 years old. I'm curious as to how many billions of dollars it's generated hence profits?
Any piece of machinery needs to be properly maintained and operated. I believe those were probably 2 factors which led to this horrific incident.
Even a brand new automobile, truck, bus, boat or plane may have problems...look at US built Boeing jets?
Only info I could find on the Dali was it passed a Coast Guard inspection in September 2023. I don't know how often or thorough these inspections entail?
Will the remaining containers be removed in Baltimore, or stay on Dali until it ties up in Va?
Latest info is that they will stay on the ship until VA
When I served in the merchaant navy we signed on for two years. it could be less. but two years was the contract, there is nothing wrong with staying on, that is there contract.
When asked what they needed the most.... almost all answered for "working girls"
Is that in N.K.?
Hi Elizabeth, hey there it seems to me the general public doesn`t understand that the crew of the M/V Dali does not meet the visa requirements to legally enter the US. Seamen have a very particular type of visa which only permits them to stay legally in US soil for a few days, I am sure their visas are already expired, consecuently they cant get off the ship, unless inmigration authorities grant them the type of visa which allows them to legally stay in US for some weeks, months etc. I am almost certain that`s the main reason why they havent been able to leave their ship yet, even almost two months after the horrendous accident with the Key bridge took place . My most sincere condolences to the families of the victims, rgs
Yet so many Millions of people come across the Southern border??? Say What???
What's wrong with that picture???
Most of the crew would have nothing to do with the collision. Perhaps the ships electrician and the engine room personnel. We haven't heard exactly what when wrong. It could be the fault of Hyundai for poorly designed electrical breakers. At the rime the ship was under the command of the pilots. However they weren't prepared for a complete shut down of the mechanical systems.
Captains still control ship.
Captions do as they are directed and commanded to do by the port ship pilot who is on board to "safely move the ship out of and into the port!
But still captain holds responsibility for the ship he is assigned to... Maritime Law may vary
@@penelopelgoss2520 why the negligence of operators to allow this catastrophic incident to happened? I thought that is why we have mandated safety regulations and protocol. That's why we have these "highly trained, intelligent and experienced " harbormaster pilot's for such a job. Of all proper protocol and safety regulations were adhered to, this tragic catastrophe could not of happened. Who greenlighted the Dali as seaworthy when it's electrical problems were not resolved while docked?
@@karensayer3089 Actually I don't believe the Captain was in control. I believe local pilots were in control, at the time of the incident anyway. Right now I would say the ship's owners are in control. The Captain has very little control of any of this.
Blame is an orphan.
While in china another bullet train had been built and 3 bridges completed!!!
must have clear special visa for work only which thier are expired mean they have wait from thier country give them ride home
They need to get these guys on land for awhile. Thats cruel. The sea never stops moving and its hard on your body.
They'll live.
It is a huge ship and it barely moves, you can't even feel the small sea waves while in it. Besides, they are sailors, they were used to live in a ship for months, all they need are food and water supplies.
They go straight to guannntamo bay😮😮😮
Waterboarding at the bay!!
Ve haf vays to make u tok.
Dont want them talkin
That's inhumane to keep them on that ship this long. They aren't prisoners.
if they were at sea they would still also be aboard the ship

They sign on for months at a time. Some 3-6 months. They live on these ship. Some ports they won’t even get off the ships. Look at our Navy. They deploy for 6-12 months or longer. It’s a sea going career. Most are probably getting more rest with the ship in port the they would underway.
FBI has confiscated their phones so they cant even talk to their families...not right at all. 90% of the guys onboard would have had nothing to do with the fault that happened.

...so is fjbiden going to inform American taxpayers how much this cost us since he left the offending ship owners off the hook for the cost?
Officers need to stay back. Crew probably on contract. No need for them to break it.
They are paid pittans. Come from India, sri lanke,Phillipines
No mannn no accidents happen if you're competent or professional people
Let me make this perfectly clear : this catastrophic incident was NOT an accident. It was someone(s) negligence. Were all federally mandated laws, safety regulations and protocol followed? Who greenlighted the Dali as seaworthy for a trip to SriLanka halfway around the globe when it's electrical problems were not resolved while docked? The Dali summoned escort tugboats while in channel underway seeking assistance. Why did the tugs disembark before reaching open sea? Coincidentally moments later the ship lost main power, then backup power and finally emergency power as well fail. 4 generators on a 9 year old ship all failed? It was reported the reason the Dali was in the port was for maintenance issues. 2 months Americans deserve all questions answered honestly and factually.
Accidents can include negligence, even gross negligence.
Unless maybe it was an "on purpose?"
Truth will never be known. Money talks and criminals walk.
All of this has been answered, do your own research.
The tugs left because that's what they always do. The ship had a problem with one of the two power circuits, which caused the power to fail at the dock a few days before leaving. When it failed with the ship moving, the engineer reset the same system instead of switching over to the other. It blew again. It was negligence, but no conspiracy theories are needed. One component failed, not all 4 generators.
@@GWNorth-db8vn I never said anything about à conspiracy. I'm awaiting the conclusinary findings from the FBI,NTSB and Coast Guard to find out who will claim the responsibilities for this negligence and what will be the consequences.
One more thing. I'd like to know ow how much gross profits were to be made by this vessel that warranted such reckless decisions to sidestep safety regulations and protocol?
They'll be askkk si many questions 😢😢😢
Lots of blue balls I guess
Guantanamo bay straight mannn
It’s criminal they are being held captive!🤮

They're in Maryland. It's probably safer on the ship. Unless of course they want to join the muggers and thieves.
