    It will be very interesting to see how this compares to the upcoming Laowa 10mm f/2.8 AF lens, that distinguishes itself by having a front filter thread. I assume you will be reviewing the Laowa too soon?

      Yes I've been working on the Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D (AF) review for a while already and yes I've done some comparisons with this Canon lens as well. There are some really interesting differences between these two lenses. Please come back when the Laowa AF 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D is officially announced for the review and comparison results

    The 11-24 lens was free from distortion. Nothing can replace the 11-24.

    Thanks for another great review! Don't see a lot of reviews on YT so really curious about how it performs.

      Yes I'm also surprised there really aren't that many reviews on YT for such a special lens.

    Interesting lens. More interesting is I don't see many people talking about it. Thanks Richard !

      Thanks for watching Macrodeon! Yes a bit weird there aren't that many videos about it on RUclips

    Would be interesting to see it's video stabilization with a body with IBIS. I think IBIS is the main contributor to wobble due to the rotation compensation in addition to the 2 axis stabilization when the OIS works alone.

      Yes, unfortunately i don't have access to another Canon body to do the test. However I do see a bit of corner warping when tested on the RP, especially very noticeable at 10mm

    How were the sunstars at 20mm, zoom lenses often have less defined stars at their longer focal lengths, so I am wondering if you tested that?

      I have not done a per aperture setting comparison test at 20mm like what I did at 10mm.

    Hi Rich, if you have to choose only one between RF10-20 and RF14-35, which one would you recommend?

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  4 месяца назад +2

      While 10mm is super fun, it's also not that practical. So more likely I would choose 14-35.

    Seeing as this only goes to 20mm, I wonder if that is a sign that Canon will be following in Sony's shoes and bringing out a 20-70mm f/4 instead of their usual 24-70 f/4? That would make a gap-less f/4 trinity from 10-200mm.

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 месяцев назад

      that's an interesting thought! I haven't tried the Sony 20-70 f/4 myself but have been loving the wide end of my Lumix S 20-60 . Definitely want to see more standard zoom with 20mm on the wide end.

    Hard to tell if the compromise is acceptable. At least for me. As you said, results are definitely acceptable. I just have to get used to it. With this lens as well with many others these days.
    Thank for making this review

      thanks for watching. Yes there are some compromises made. I think most people would be quite happy, but some may not like it

    Not expecting that much vignetting...

    • @TheRealRichardWong
      @TheRealRichardWong  5 месяцев назад

      I was a bit surprised too. But then the heavy vignetting was mostly at around 10mm

    With that much distortion is it really fair to call this a rectilinear lens, when fisheyes can be de-fished too but no one would consider them rectilinear?

      The advantage for being the brand and have it's own lenses secretly corrected for all the optical faults.
