  • The Tibetan Wildass is one of the more common ungulates found across the plains of the high Himalayas. The species faces immense pressure from habitat loss due to livestock overgrazing, which is being catalysed by climate change. Moreover, the spread of diseases from livestock is a potential threat. Free ranging dogs are also a major threat. The species is locally known as kiang.
This is a compilation of all of our sightings of the Tibetan Wild Donkey from our Ladakh road trip. Ladakh is one of the most interesting biodiversity hotspots in India. It is unfortunate climate change and habitat loss is driving habitat loss in the mountains of Ladakh and the rest of the Himalayas.
