- How to factory default your Infomir MAG254, also applicable to other MAG models.
You will probably never need to follow these steps but, they might come in handy if, for example; you would like to resell or return your MAG to the seller clear of any information or modifications.
Also, if you have mistakenly switched the video output mode from NTSC to PAL or vice versa and now you are getting a blackout screen with a message -unsupported resolution or incompatible resolution.
Or maybe you have blocked your MAG interface or some channels with a password you no longer remember.
Or let’s say you just need to mediate a connection problem either with the HDMI or the Ethernet communication ports.

Hello, I just recently bought a MAG Box 520 W3 and I am having problems with it. I usually deal with a MAG box 254 and the set up I have never had a problem before. I followed all the steps to set it up (Mag box 520 W3) and it says STB Blocked. have you dealt with these new boxes at all? Or do you have any info on how it should be set up? Is the set up different?
I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out.

I can't get my wifi to connect, the Seller on eBay must of sent me a defect as you said .. The one I purchased was for the Mag 254, the WiFi N. Oh well
There are three mag 254 version.
Regular mag254 with wifi option using a USB compatible external antenna.
And ma254 W1 and W2.
With build-in antenna
Make sure you bought it with build in anthenna

This factory defaulting should be done if all other troubleshooting fail in an attempt to restore a default software and hardware like not working wireless / ethernet ports or hdmi output.
Remember to back up your server URL address / donation information.
However, if hardwire make sure your ethernet cable is good and plugged in in both ends ----router and mag. A losse connection cause no ip address to populate from the router.
Alternatively unplug everything and plugged back in to refresh all ip.
Even if everything else seems to be working.
What about Mag 351

Your explanation is so simple to follow ,but for some reason my Mag is still stuck on TFTP load. Don't know why...
When you change the boot mode to NAND or NAND2. Don't forget to click exit and save. Or will keep looping on DHCP or TFTP booting option.

TFTP means that after a factory default and save. And rebooting one more time with the same initial step to CMOS window changing boot mode to NAND or NAND2 save and exit and confirm the changes? some how is not saving the NAND booting option.
Have you check going back to the CMOS. What booting option shows?
Like after 3 to 4 hrs you can't change anything like frozen,after that unplug and plug back start working again 3 to 4 hours
Ok, that could be an internal overheating due to defective, also maybe lack to handle the programing resolution from your service provider due to not enough cpu power and Ram.
For overheating test try to keep it well ventilated, for cpu and ram try a non hd programming and watch to see if problem repeat. To make sure is not your service provider try testing with a different provider most of them let you test the service up to 24 hours for free
How sad only 0.5 gb ram in this day and age. So i Like how Mag works, so i spent another $100 and got mag 256. But this over heats often. Then i saw it does not have any vents. Its a sealed box. And internet speed only 2mbs no matter what. How can we Change the Mac address in the MAG boxes?
If im not mistaken 0.5 gb ram is almost the same as 512 megabits that is enough memory for most android boxes to handle iptv services. Most original infomir MAGxxx have that. That conbined with the flash memory and cpu is what makes the trick...
On the other hand No you cannot change the mac address on original infomir mag boxes. And the overheating is not normal and may push your mag to abnormal behavior like rebooting or freezing.
Not to ne mistaken with the channel freezing because if your native internet speed is 2mb/s then more likely you always gonna have problems with most hd programming. Not just with mag but with any other android box. Only app emulator and some open source on hardware may allow mac address manipulation.
Hi, actually the remote control is too much used and I can't find the button with the three dotts and it doesn't look exactly your your in video. How can I send you a photo of my remote control to show me which is the correct button?
if your remote does not have the 3 dots as in the video then you most certainly do not have an original STB Mag from Infomir. check if it has it somewhere else and if does give it a try.

That is mostly your tv aspect ratio. Look on the tv remote a bottom
p-zise or zoom or some time aspect. Click the bottom untill you get the resolution you are looking for........in the Mag you need to go to setting and look for video outout and select a resolution that is comoatible with your tv.. But, try the tv first..
My TV says Invalid Format and I tried holding the button down while plugging it back in. Still remains on that screen. How do I fix this?
If the instructions in the video do not work for you. Press F1 at boot up and that should change from PAL to NTSC. If that still doesn't work then you need to try to access the CMOS menu from a different TV and change the video output to NTSC which is the format compatible for North America

How can I fix volume going up and down by itself on my mag 322 W1. Also in video club it keeps on saying file missing. How can I resolve these 2 issues. Thanks
First the volume going up and down may be glitches from the streaming service provider so that may be fix by itself.
The video file not found use the fire stick remote select menu then and select the video playback and change to a different player other than the one selected, auto not always work,
After changing try again and again untill you find one that it works.
Usually that one selected should work for all the rest. However depending on your provider they may be streaming different video format and it may not be supported by the box.

I am having a msg...Mode not supported. So I tried as you said to get the blue menu. But the blue menu is not showing up.I also tried unpluging all cables and repluging it in... What should I do now ? 😞
Make sure you are on theygg right hdmi source, reboot and while booting up press F1 to alternate from video output PAL to NTSC.
Another option is to try with a different tv that support both.
If after trying these steps you still cannot see picture then you may have a bad hdmi port on your mag
Your option will be to use it with the composite cable that came with it. (If it came with it.

to eliminate that your MAG HDMI port is dead, try the steps with different TVs, (some TV cannot read the PAL video output if somehow rolled back to that format. the worst case scenario you will need to use a composite adapter (Yellow, white and red that used to be included) with the MAG254, to access the Bios, then change the video output to auto if that is the problem. If the video output is set to PAL and you live in North America, Centro, and some south A. then change to NTSC. IF you live in Europe country then it shoud be video output PAL. or just set the video output to Auto. if all that looks okay then your HDMI is gone. full troubleshooting here. ruclips.net/video/nZ8f9yBf-wc/видео.html
thank you for the video. I am facing a "resolution not supported" issue with the MAG 254, and the pressing the menu button doesn't bring up the blue screen. Any thoughts on how this can be fixed?
Try pressing the red F1 key on the mag remote to switch the format from PAL to NTSC or viceversa. Depending in the country you leave. Examp: USA and some some South A use NTSC and most European countries use PAL.
If that doesn't work and yiu Don't have a composite adapter to try the steps in the video then, you will need to keep trying with different tvs as some tvs do woks. Then change the format to your country or the resolution that is supported by your TV.

Try the F1 first while the no support resolution message and you may not need to go any further.. good luck...

Time on device is not synchronized, how to sort out this problem.
Time will synchronize once you bound your service with a provider. Mag STBs have a default time set up in inner portal but is usually overwritten after a portal/server settup with the provider EPG and system time. However, try inner portal time and region setup. Just select the nearest country or city to your location to auto populate.

If you have an original infomir mag.xxx the factory default should just reverse to original firmware. Mostly no modifications loaded to it..... is you got a modified version with some custom setting specially for booting to specific interface. Then that could explain a none stop loading as it cannot find the link to upload the information.....however, try nand2 after doing a factory default. And if still have the problem change the boot loader and save.
After default setting my tv turns on rendomly. I have to unplug power of box otherwise tv turns on middle of night.
Try to see if after the update on video output the HDMI control is on ( HDMI-CEC) then turn off. That is the only thing that may triggers your tv to either switch input or turn the tv on or off. If is the only device connected to your tv. Be aware that most recent flat screen also have that option on their menu and if you like you can turned off from the tv instead getting the same result..
I have a mag323 and I do not have RUclips and Picasa pre installed, any help why?
I haven't tried any yet but, MAG323 is a closed platform that does not allow image modification. As per Informir specs, It has an integrated Verimatrix content security solution. And It is intended for operators that already use Verimatrix Only. in order to modify the preloaded software, you need an open platform like Mag322. in other words, you may need to exchange it if you need it for aftermarket iptv modifications.

you have to make sure to select NAND or NAND2 on boot mode section and save the changes or it will get stock with the wrong signature and auto update will not work

Mag 254 is still the same. Some seller advertise the year just to impress. However, as far as mag 254 there are different series.: Mag-254 (no build in wireless) mag-254 W1 and mag254 W2. So far 254-w2 it should be a way to go as far more compatible out there
HI i factory defaulted my box, after restarting it goes to that meny where settings are located, but i dont have any servers or portal meny i have no way of getting there by just going into settings and such. Do i need to update software as i have factory settings now. What i get now is ( wrong signature) when i try to update the software. Ive orderd chanels but i have no way of entering portals or anything so im stuck right now. Help please
On mag 254 that is the only way....setting then system setting then server and to input server info on the URL box.
do you have your box from a service provider or did you buy it feom the internet?
It sound like you may have a custom flash not from Infomir if after the restore you don't have the option for system setring and server setup.

Download the app mag remote from google play store. Make sure your phone is connected to the same network that your mag. If your phone is infrared capable you don't need internet.
I have bought MAG424w3 and trying to set password for "Parental Control". After entering default password 0000, it keeps giving me error message that the form is not filled correctly after I try to set new password. By powering on while "Menu" button pressed, I have done Factory Default setting and saved but still not letting me set new password. Please help. Thanks
the parental control (password behaviour) will mostly depend on your streaming service provider interface setting options. Sometimes you get the error message when trying to change or save the new password and other times you may see nothing, like if it was not executed. however in my experience i have seen on some devices from infomir (Mag) that after changing to a new password it will take effect only after rebooting the box. Again, this is not a pattern for all devices but like i said it will depend on your streaming provider interface or the way the set that option to behave. In short, the problem is not the box. check the support forum from your TV provider if rebooting do not stick to a the new password selected.

Do not understand about unlocking the portal setting. However if you are going to do a factory default you need to copy the URL / portal address in case is erased " some time it will not"

No signal could be your mag running on PAL video output and your tv only supporting NTSC. Press f1 at boot up.
Or your may have a bad HDMI port on your TV or the Box.
Try your box with another TV and if problem repeat then is hour box.

I don't know of any from FTa yo iptv that do not use the default password as 4 zeros. 0000. And if you did a factory and is not working then, your service provider may have that information

as factory default sometimes do not erase the server URL / portal information. i would go to the URL address and delete that manually (make sure you write it down first, as you will need that info later) just to make sure the server info is clear. do that factory reset one more time and put your URL address information and try again......

Sorry, you can't change the mac address of the mag itself. If the mac address is locked to a donation and for some reason is not working and you don't have access to the account you will not be able to used again with the same provider until the account expire. However you can always use the mac address with a different providers.
how to open settings if is locked by password.
Factory defaulting thru BIOS bypass and override all outer/inner menu. So no need for any password (all information will be lost)

Make sure to change the boot mode to NAND or NAND2 then exit and save and then ok to make sure was saved. After rebooting if you like repeat the steps to go back to CMOS window and check if the info was updated

First, go back to CMOS menu..
Make sure Boot mode is NAND Or NAND2.
Then go down and select Upgrade tools make sure.use upgrade is set to NO.
Go back and click exit and save and then confirm with ok to save changes
Yor box should be booting normal, if not then do another factory default and repeat.
Remember after factory your mag will try to boot again from DHCP or TFTP so you will need to repeat steps to go to CMOS and change boot mode to NAND2

If you have a regular Mag254 (not a commercial) you should not have a password promt for CMOS/BIOS.

Yes, before and after will be four zeros. Unles is changed by the user.

You probably have a none original mag or corrupted eprom. A manual factory update may be needed as the auto OTA may keep triggering wrong signature

if you never changed the default password it should be 4 Zeros ( 0000 ) if you did change it and forgot then you will need a factory default, unless you want to brute forced (manually guessing 4 digits at random) and that could be really time consuming if you ever guess it anyway. sorry!
Be aware that sometimes (depending on the software version you have) even with the right password you can get wrong password. in that case disconnecting and reconnecting from power do the trick. the same error happen when trying to change the password. it takes the new password even if it give you an error. just reset and try again the new password. Good Luck

Remember! In the tutorial one of the first thing that i recommended before the factory default is "To copy the URL/portal address" as you will need to put that information back on the server setup section exactly as it was given to you. that is the only way your channel will come back. Make sure is correct otherwise you will get "YOUR STB IS BLOCKED CALL THE PROVIDER" error message. once you update your portal address your channel will come back. EXAMPLE: iptv6.watever.you.had.before.com

From bios/recovery mide menu, just do the factory default, select nand or nand2 for boot mode and save changes. Do not - do not try the update from this menu.
After factory complete just make sure is connected to the internet an proceed to auto update or to force the update from the inner portal setting.
Dchp error how to come out of it
You need to go back and change the boot mode to NAN or NAN2
Don't forget to save the changes
