    The best impersonations I've ever seen are generally from SCTV. This is no exception..

    Came here just to see the guy playing the Bach Brandenburg Concerto(!) theme at the end a la Doc Severinsen...:)) Did NOT remember what an incredible job Joe Flaherty did as Buckley...!

    Short and sweet and hilarious! I can just imagine an SNL version of this. Would have dragged on forever and been about as funny as a toothache

    Great stuff. The funny thing is, Buckley, who was quite conservative, did have far left guests on sometimes. People like Black Panther leader Huey Newton and gay beatnik Anarchist poet Alan Ginsburg. And, for the most part, he treated them with a great deal of respect. So refreshing compared to the Fox style of interviewing that became popular in the 1980s and has only gotten worse since then.

      Don't forget his knock-down dragout with Gore Vidal...!! He just couldn't keep his composure for that one, though...

      @@richrol58That wasn't on Firing Line. The blowup with Vidal was as a co-commentator on the ABC News coverage of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. Vidal had called Buckley a proto fascist and WFB returned fire and went overboard.

    • @milascave2
      @milascave2 2 месяца назад

      @@richrol58 Well, yes, they made a movie about that series of debates. They had been poking at each other, but finally, Gore Vidal called Buckley a "Fascist" and Buckley called him a "Queer" (which was accurate, but more of a slur at the time, before it was reclaimed.) when asked what he had said, he repeated it, speaking more slowly.
      That is not one of the examples of him treating his left leaning guests with respect, though.

    Met Joe Flaherty once in a restaurant...and all I could think of was this impression and Count Floyd. Very nice fellow...

    these 4 perfected those personas flawlessly. Down to the pissed off lackey greenfield throwing a tantrum, then relegated to closing the show on Buckley's fav composer.

    Jane Fonda wanting to join a conservative movement ? Surely William F. Buckley didn't have that much persuasion on her.

    No she hasn't always been a born again Christian. You don't seem to know much about Jane Fonda along with all those other things you know so little about.
    She was over 60 when she became a Christian. Now I don't know if she is a true believer but then it isn't my task to forgive her. End the end we shall all answer for our sins and find out on that day who is right and wrong.

  • @Tigerfire75
    @Tigerfire75 11 лет назад +2

    You don't seem to know anything about socialism or the fact it is incompatible with Christianity.
    You don't seem to know much about Jesus either. There is a book called the Bible you can go look up and read about Jesus.

  • @Tigerfire75
    @Tigerfire75 11 лет назад

    No treason is in the Constitution and that is what I would arrest her for. Maybe you should reread the Constitution too.

  • @SoldierUSArmy
    @SoldierUSArmy 11 лет назад

    I also read the Holy Bible and Jesus Christ and his apostles , according to the Holy Bible, actually practiced democratic socialism by sharing all of their belonging. So do not force or order me to believe in something that you really like. I choose to vote for whatever I want to vote for and Democratic Socialism is not a stupid term!!!!

    • @abcde-ji6md
      @abcde-ji6md 3 года назад

      There's nothing Democratic about Socialism. Socialism must always be imposed on others by force, Pol Pot bloody killing field style.

  • @Tigerfire75
    @Tigerfire75 11 лет назад +4

    Yeah well I read the Bible front to back more then once and there is no democratic socialism in it. Socialism isn't democratic or even just.
    See maybe you need to go reread the Bible again. Democratic Socialism is a stupid term.

  • @Tigerfire75
    @Tigerfire75 11 лет назад +1

    hahahahaha that is so funny. Jesus wasn't a socialist. If you know what socialists are then you would know he wasn't one.

  • @SoldierUSArmy

    Jane Fonda has been and always was a born-again Christian!!!
