Thank you! That was a great video. Broke our timing belt this Saturday morning on our way to our weekend trail run. Diagnosed the problem roadside while waiting for the tow truck by removing the oil fill cap and watching for the valve you can see go up and down while the wife cranked it over. Forced to ride in the car while being towed due to covid, but hey, it was fun. It took less than two hours to complete the replacement including the trip to the auto parts store. Thanks again!
This was entertaining to watch - so what was the problem with this engine upon further diagnosis? Did you repair it or has it gone to the big salvage yard in the sky?!
I still haven't looked into it but I want to use that nice wagon again someday. I probably won't use that engine but I'd like to know what happened too. I'll find our answer eventually. Sorry for the longest cliffhanger ever.
I didnt even remove all those pullys, I just rulled it right down thru the bottom cover & out the bottom, Mine does NOT have the center guide. screw removing all those pullys
+Jon Holt I assume you are referring to my "Escempo" or Escort with Tempo engine, but that is a project for a 1990 or earlier Escort, and I have already done that. Thanks for watching.
Sorry about that, It was my first video. I'll do a more complete video on that car one of these days. Until then I do have a Festiva timing belt video which should be very similar. ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=5xldw03o7WQ
A lot of time wasted talking about unrelated things. It is pretty annoying when you're trying to get instructions to do a timing belt and you have to sit and listen to someone talk about their tractor and their windshield washer lines

Did Ford get a good deal on that color paint? I've had 4 escorts that color.

The timing belt just broke on my brothers 94
Does it matter if on the compression stroke,or exhaust stroke for TDC?
Or meaning how do you know, remove spark plug to see if piston is on up stroke when pointer is on mark TDC
Both cam and crank on indicators
You could always turn in into a "skimpo"
