DAMN. The way you translated the whistle into the battle theme was HAUNTING. I love how you did this track. the way that the track switches between hopeless to triumphant, ironically the darkness falls part (which fits perfectly with this.) and the two slashes to represent kris blocking deaths blade at the end like puss does in the movie is just the icing on the cake.

wow, this track is literally cutting me in half with a scythe!!!
(in all seriousness my favorite part of this track is probably the use of the later half of Darkness Falls, it's a leitmotif that not many Deltarune fan OSTs use and the fact that the sample cuts off the first half of the normally relaxed song really adds to the intensity of the song. since it's the game over track...is it implying you're already dead?)
@anonalpaca2513 quite what I was going for! More than "you're dead" I tried to make feel Kris is deceived by the overwhelming fear of death, so he can't really feel the justice.. the thoughts fog up immediately.... I'm glad you liked it :]

[ This item is usable at any point in the fight, but isn't the proper way to end the battle. Think of it like a weird route. ]
* You take out the Last Wish, and begin reciting the words.

* Taking the coward's way out? Pathetic.
* Well, that's that, then.
* But let this be known, I'll find you, amigo.
[ Fire comes in from the right of the screen, obscuring Death in a silhouette. During this, he holds his weapon up, and runs his claw along it in ticks, the same way he does when showing the cat marks to Puss In Boots, mimicking the ticking of a clock as he says the next line slowly. ]
* It's only, a matter, of time...
[ Death then fades away as the fire clears up. He whistles as he leaves. This ends the battle. ]
[ This choice will have consequences later... ]
[ Trying to FLEE ]
* But there was nowhere to run to.

* Death swings his sickles into each other, creating sparks. It doesn't do anything, but he looks cool.

* The Star is withering away.
* You try saying something, but Death promptly interrupts you.
* You can't him him...
* Try something he would never expect.
* You jump high into the air, ready to cast ULTIMATE SLASH.
* Death gets ready to parry.
* But suddenly! You throw the Manual at a high speed towards Death
* He doesn't expect this, and freezes from shock
* The manual hits him square on the nose, pages fly, scattering your memories all across the ground.
* Death looks around at "the mess you made".
* After thorough examination, Death seems ready to TALK to you.
I love the clever use of "Darkness Falls" and the trumpets used too. It makes me think that Kris has the urge to stay alive and fight back.
Deltarune - Final chapter
Secret fight with... DEATH itself
seems like he loves smell of your fear.. but determination still does not let you lose spirit
* Staring Death eye to eye frightens you, but you still have the urge to continue to the bitter end.
* I find the very idea of reloading after a game over ABSURD.
*"I know what's inside you amigo. That you see it as a hinderance rather than just another friend to help out or a "valuable partner" like the other two actually makes this easier. So I'll just do you a favor and take it off your hands... not like you have any choice in the matter, am I right?"*
Imagine if this only happens in Chapter 7 if you died exactly 8 times throughout the whole game.
*End of the line
*Death looks at you with a hungry gaze
*you hear Ralsei and Susie trying to find some way to get through this wall of fire
*Death dares you to pick up the sword
*you feel your golden times passing through your mind
*your time has come
Death: We met again Kris, but unfortunately for you this will be our last date. What will you do Kris? Will you run to your save files or will you fight?
*you feel that if you lose this battle, there will be no second chance...*
*you don't know if you really have a chance, but you know one thing...*

I imagine that instead of just straight up(heh) deleting your SAVE file, Death is invincible and immune to ACTs until he kills you, and you undergo the GAME OVER screen. You can only enter phase two of this fight when you prove you are not afraid of it by retrying instead of Loading your file or quitting the game.
Maybe to incentivize using the other two options, maybe there's some penalty for getting a Game Over in the Dark World before the Death fight.
