I relate na hii story a hundred percent,,my mum transferred me from Thika road primary school,,,to Muthaiga primary school,,kwanza she did that na i went na school uniform ya Thika road primary,,and the way Muthaiga primary kids walikua well-off. Swimming classes,, crazy school trips...went to see Samuel Eto,,I wore my first bata shoes in Muthaiga primary school in class 8. This changed my life every since,,I'm so sooo grateful to my mum yaani this episode made me cry. She used to sell Mboga za kienyeji after job ndio apate the extra ya school bus, food money na PTA cash for swimming lessons na class tu ya hio shule. CTA you're doing the Lord's work,,,I just came to realise that this people who've made it out here some of them grew up like us,,,nothing out of the ordinary ni vile waliamua kujituma mbayar Sana,,,i even listened to Mr. Lenny manze,,,thank you guys... Asanteni...I'll tell my story one day.
Parents of most Gen X kids were pioneer Nairobi dwellers. That holiday timetable thing, it's like they all went to the same school of intentional steering of their kids.
I'm an ex HHPS student. Mr. Njoroge run that extremely well! And yeeeess... I remember that white house! This is a powerful and nostalgic story Phil! Thanks for sharing
Actually the cheap ones were called Youth pens. Then we would upgrade to Hero pens and for the well off guys they would use Parker pens which had cartridges.
I'm Phil's age and this culture shock thing didn't go well for me to date. I also transferred to a rich ppls school in class 4, i was from the ghetto too. My grades went down it's like my brain froze and i also developed weird habits that i have not been able to rid of to date 🤦🙆 I'm glad you are telling your story i guess their is hope somewhere along the way
Youth pen were the 20bob ones and the expensive ones were hero fountain pens. I have seen the youth pen on sale on Etsy as an antique, where did the years go?
@@alicek6676 same question my bro and I ask each other....feels like we were at some corner as the years passed by and it seems we were too oblivious of it

Amazing platform astar
pens zilikuwa zinaitwa Hero
Pen zilikua green, black blue ink was Quill and Quink glass & plastic bottles wueh
Green was the common color. Ukiget pen ya blue or red you’re an OG
Kuchafua shati na ink
Actually the cheap ones were called Youth pens. Then we would upgrade to Hero pens and for the well off guys they would use Parker pens which had cartridges.
the difference was the nib, the hero pens had a narrow and firm nip, youth pens would leave your paper all smudged up with ink
Yess!
Youth was horrible.I hated fountain pens and preferred Speedo.
❤❤❤❤

Lol, you've reminded me of the different pens and quill ink....I was able to finally get a pelican when I got to class 8
Pelican yangu illibiwa 2 days after I joined boarding school. Mathe akasema atanunua zile za 20 bob
