    It’s not exactly the same, but this weekend felt a lot like the May Mets. Blew Saturdays 6-1 lead, then got the winning run on second with no outs and completely choke. Very reminiscent of the baseball I was watching in the beginning of the season.

    Can this bullpen hold up for 14 days? The team is gonna go as the bullpen goes.

      Agreed. I wonder how proactive David Stearns will try to be in acquiring an arm.

    I actually thought the rain delay might work in the Mets' favor, since it took Hader out of the picture, but for some reason they couldn't do much to the Astros' guy, who was pitching his THIRD consecutive game.

      It was disappointing, especially in extras after we tied it back up and couldn’t take advantage with a runner on second and nobody out. It’s an annoying loss for sure.

    We all seen this movie before, when you expect them to win they disappoint. With the way the last 2 games went, fully expect them to go into a tailspin.

    Not having Diaz hurt recently. So, hopefully, the starting pitching will be decent, and the hitting will continue.

    Why the heck was Severino pulled when he’d only thrown 79 pitches? They didn’t pay a price until extra innings, but that was the major reason they lost.

      Luis Rojas Mendoza cannot manage a bullpen.

      🤦🏽‍♂️ No it wasn’t; that makes absolutely no sense. Use your head. Unless Severino had literally gone nine innings, it wouldn’t have mattered, because _there was a long rain delay after the top of the ninth._ Even if he’d let Severino go eight, and used Houser for the ninth, he STILL would have had to pull him after the rain delay. Mendoza had four available relievers: Houser, Ottavino (barely), Jay, and Festa. That’s it. Houser is a bad choice to pitch in extras because he doesn’t miss bats, whereas Automatic Wine can. And if Otto had pitched the ninth and lost, people would have lost their minds. Mendoza was screwed no matter what.

    JD Martinez has cooled off. Last 7 games: JD Martinez - .214 AVG/.619 OPS (.167 AVG in last 6 games). He should have rested Sunday; he's almost 37 years old and can't play every day. That is on Mendoza.

  • @jamesbuckley8917

    Bad mojo is starting to stack up: Reid-Foley to IL, Marte to IL, Diaz gets suspended, Smith to IL, Nimmo faints and hits his head.

  • @IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar
    @IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar 3 месяца назад

    People seem to be forgetting that there was a rain delay after the top of the ninth. Letting Severino pitch the 8th would have made little difference (I guess he could have had Automatic Wine pitch the ninth, and Houser pitch in extras, but he’s not a psychic, and people would have lost their minds if Otto had given up the winning run. Plus Houser doesn’t miss bats, making him a bad choice to pitch with an automatic runner on second). Whoever pitched the ninth couldn’t pitch the tenth, and Mendoza had four available relievers for the day: Houser, Automatic Wine (barely, emergency use only), Jay, and Festa. That’s it. And he had to consider that they have no off days until the ASB. He was screwed no matter what. Their only chance to win was in the 10th, when they had Nimmo as the winning run on 2nd with nobody out. Projections said this team was roughly a .500 unit, plus/minus a couple games. They’re just getting there in a super-streaky way.

    This series loss didn’t feel like a loss. Being up 5 runs shows this tan I s plenty capable. I think pitchers need a leader as well.

  • @mss627

    I still remember deGromm pitching all those masterpieces with no offensive support. Now the script has flipped. The Mets are scoring runs but their pitchers can't hold leads. Until the Mets get their pitching staff sussed out, all bets are off, Fink. It's not a popular opinion but now is the time to sell. While guys like Severino, Martinez and Alonso are at peak value. Again the goal isn't to compete for a playoff spot. The goal is to compete for the ring. Move Vientos to first base, call up Baty and lets start building a championship team.

    They didn't lose the series, they gave away the second game when MENDOZA brought in DIECK- JERK to relieve. Yesterday's game was given away when MENDOZA pull out SEVERINO after just throwing 70 pitches knowing that he is short in the bullpen. Then he brought in FESTA and the ASTROS did a FIESTA on FESTA.

    Mets barely win vs. WAS despite Luis Rojas Mendoza's pitching mismanagement. Pulls Peterson at 86 pitches. Pulled Severino last game at 79 pitches. He overuses bad relievers and refuses to try Nunez in the 9th.

    It will be interesting....it's usually the shitty teams with these Joe Shmo pitchers that give the Mets fits. They often get no hit until the late innings. The bullpen is really killing them now. These 10 games feel like forever.....we're only halfway there.

    Mets are hitting much better right now but the question is ...Do they can make a run against teams under 50%????The problem are the starters and especially the bullpen, one of the worse in the National League..We don't have at least "1 ace" in the staff..For those reasons I believe they will be sellers at the trading deadline...

    • @emiliothepoet
      @emiliothepoet 3 месяца назад

      I disagree you have got to take advantage of this offense. It’s fueled this team to make it to .500 the bullpen and starters have been abysmal but Senga will return Diaz as well. I’m sure they call up Buto and Scott.

    Luis Rojas Mendoza continues to fail at pitching management. He consistently pulls starters too early and relies on the Smith Brothers Cough Drop guys(Garrett & Diekman). Garrett has blown 3 of 6 save opportunities. Diekman has blown 3 of 5 save opportunities.
