I’m glad I got to them with Duane though it was only once . It was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Saw them there a few more times afterwards including one of the early times after Duane passed . Then years later several times . One of my favorite all time bands . Saw Gregg solo several times . Always felt they were brothers in soul and spirit if that makes sense. 🙏👌😊☮️

Talk about being a "Good Human" - Greg Allman! I worked a show (stage hand) in Huntsville, AL, in 1995. After the show, Greg came out and personally thanked all of us in the local crew. I jumped down off the mains (front speakers) and asked him to sign my shirt (Eat a Peach tank-top). He not only gladly signed it, but shook my hand. I still have the shirt, and will never forget that night. Thanks again for keeping great music alive, brother Jam!

Thank you for listening to this classic! The Allman Brothers Band was phenomenal...talk about music that just wraps around your spine and shakes you up! (And I'm with you Jamel as to Whipping Post being my fav ABB song!) Their music has so much bluesy southern soul that makes your head and shoulders groove right along to the beat! Please check out the legendary Duane playing a blistering guitar back-and-forth with Eric Clapton in Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad...it will help you understand the depth of the loss of Duane to the world of extraordinary music!. Thank you my man for keeping great music alive! And for making these troubled times a bit easier to take! Keep on rockin'!

It was heart breaking when Gregg came here to record what everyone knew, (including Gregg) would be his last hurrah. He was so worn and frail. That was the end of a tragic stretch for Muscle Shoals music. First, Percy Sledge left us and after that, in no particular order, Russell Smith of the Amazing Rhythm Aces, Aretha Franklin, Donnie Fritts, Glenn Frey, legendary Producer Rick Hall who started Duanne Allman on his way and several more. Rick produced one more record before he died. It was Gregg's last album, Southern Blood. MAY the circle be unbroken for the brothers. This includes some video of Gregg in the studio. Itdescribes his last days in Muscle Shoals and why he came here for the end of his music Journey. If you've never seen the movie about Muscle Shoals and all the iconic music that came from that small town. you are cheating yourself.

As many people have noted Gregg wrote this after Duane died. He wrote it in honor of Duane, and wanted to honor his life. He also realized life is fleeting - you never know when it will be your time, so you can't waste any time. Duane's death really brought that home to him. Even though it's an upbeat song, I cry every time I hear it.

Jamel, I cannot tell you what a joy you are. I lost the love of my life 4 months and 8 days ago to cancer. He was a lifelong Deadhead, started seeing them at age 15 in 1979. He turned me on to them and the bus came by and I got ON. Losing him has utterly destroyed me.
I have this song (Ain't Wastin Time No More) as my ringtone and everytime my Boo would hear it, or pick up my phone, he'd complain about it because he was mad at Gregg Allman for saying something not nice about Jerry Garcia. Hearing you do this song is bittersweet because it reminds me of my love. Watching your reactions to The Dead videos and your genuine goodness as a human being is the only joy I have in life since he died. Not exaggerating in the slightest. I watched your video with Joe Walsh at Darryl's house and I smiled and laughed for the first time in months.
Can you do some Tom Petty? Maybe start with this? Those of us who love and lived by Tom and his music are still in shock at his death.
Thank you, sincerely thank you, for being the only joy in my life right now.

First time I heard this at a coffee shop in the early 90's. This came on the juke and as the waiter came by I was "what is this song?!?! I gotta know what this song is!!!". I forgot the song before I knew it. Years later was looking up music on the internet, I think on Amazon, and i recognized the album cover and after some quick samples finally found the song again. Bought that song as quick as I could. What an awesome feel and groove to it. Always appreciate your insights. Rock on my man!

This song has been powerful medicine for me so many times when I needed it most. It's great to see young people hearing, and most importantly, feeling The Brother's music. I'm with you on Whipping Post too brother. There's an old southern saying that sums up these guys music best for me. "If that don't light your fire your wood is wet."

@Jamel so glad you're loving the Allman Brothers Band!!! Duane is my favorite guitarist by far and I've been an ABB fan for years. They were a phenomenal live band and I've seen them live about 12 times. I even had the honor of attending their last show at the Beacon Theater in NYC on October 28, 2014, which was the Anniversary of Duane's death as well. They played that night for four hours finishing up at around 1:45 in the morning. If you want to really get deep into them listen to "Live at the Fillmore", especially the tracks "You don't love me", "Stormy Monday" and "Whipping Post". It shows how they stretched arrangements out to jam on them and then compare the live versions to the studio ones. I would also suggest listening to Derek and the Dominos. Derek and the Domino's was Delaney and Bonnies backing band which Eric Clapton stole with the addition of Brother Duane Allman. I would suggest listening to "Layla", "Why does love got to be so sad" and "Key to the Highway" to start. From the 1990's Allman's start with "Seven Turns". One of my favorite songs ever.
