    Thanks very much for this. It inspired me to change the battery in my Aquatouch shaver! Just two points:
    1) I struggled to release the 8 clips on the clear waterproof housing, but managed with the aid of 8 sewing pins. I opened each clip and slid a pin into each gap thus created. The pins kept all 8 clips open and the cover easily lifted off.
    2) It wasn't the same battery as yours. It had two MINH AAA sized cells wrapped together side by side into a single unit with the solder tabs at one end. This wasn't too difficult to desolder; just remember there's residual charge in the batteries so don't cause any shorts with the desoldering braid! I bought a replacement for about £11 and it fitted exactly, and works perfectly. The battery part number is CPS-1391.
    After reassembly, I fully cleaned the shaver heads using diluted vinegar, and resharpened them with toothpaste. I get a really close shave and it's still on its first charge after 12 days. Now, it's probably better than new.
    You've saved me from spending over £100 for a new shaver and I wouldn't have even tried if I hadn't seen your video!
    Edit: The first charge lasted for three and half weeks! It's now two week through its second charge and still working just fine.

    Thanks a lot for this very well explained tutorial. It helped me replace the battery pack on my Philips Aquatouch shaver without much hassle. I used some plastic cable ties to keep the 8 clips opened. I bought a couple of batteries in a Paris shop for 10€ and the guy in the shop was kind enough to solder the 2 batteries together for me. My shaver is good as new for 10€ and it helps the planet !

    This also works for the Series 6000 S6630. For the difficult bit of getting the black internal case out of the main body - I believe its clipped in by two clear plastic clips right at the end of the case around the recharging connector. So easing these two plastic hooks apart may make it easier to pull the internal casing out rather than brute forcing a screwdriver into it (I did the latter as per video so I've not tried this myself as yet). I used a standard tabbed 14500 Li-Ion cell as a replacement battery.

    A suggestion for those who don't have soldering equipment: Use silver epoxy to connect the new battery, without need for soldering. Cut old battery tabs immediately adjacent to the poles of the battery, on the side of the plastic battery mount, opposite the side of the circuit board. This leaves the battery solder on the circuit board untouched. Cut new battery tabs to appropriate length, so they overlap the old battery tabs. Glue new and old battery tabs in place using silver epoxy. I successfully replaced the battery in my 10-year-old Norelco using this method. Still good a year after replacement.

    great tips for battery replacement, is it possible to put a bigger higher capacity battery in with the same matching dimensions and 3.7 voltage that might make the shaver last longer during shaves reducing charging cycles, food for thought.

      @Vmaxfodder 11 месяцев назад

      Generally if it has more time capacity mah . It lowers the amp output ( muscle power) . So that is usually the trade offs in cheaper batteries.

      Hi, the liquid is flux: amzn.to/3FdSvQA
      It is used to help remove oxidized films from meta, so the solder adheres better. I never solder without it.

    I cant get this Green cell by Sony as its not available here. I bought cheap one 3.7v, after replacing, i charged it fully, but it drops within seconds. I tried 3-4 cheap betteries of 3.7, but all did not work. Is there any problem with circuit board or with bettery, how can i check it?

    I can't find the same battery.
    I have this shaver but the battery is WD12G.
    I can't know if it's 3.6 or 3.7 volts.
    I found many 3.7 volts but with much higher ampers.
    Thank you

    • @MegaSafetyFirst
      @MegaSafetyFirst  Год назад +1

      Hi, more amps will be beneficial for the runtime of the shaver.
      As long as the voltage of the replacement is the same as the original battery it is ok to be used.

    I've tried replacing batteries in Series 1000. These use 2AAA. I've bought white Eneloops as a replacement and they don't work.
    The batteries charged to a 100% with an external charger still result in amber light indicating low battery on the shaver. Charging them with an included shaver's power supply almost cooked them - the cell got to 3.5V (which is way over the spec) before I unplugged it - batteries were so hot that I almost burned myself. And the shaver still indicated "Low battery".

    One of my Philips Norelco shavers will accept the charging cord and the other will not. Quite frankly, I wonder if I need to change the battery on the one that is not charging. I don't think I want to go through all the work it looks like it would take to replace the battery. In fact, I read that you should not try to do this yourself, so obviously a battery change is not a simple task.

    • @vroomfondel5447
      @vroomfondel5447 Год назад

      Try it anyway! Worst case scenario is that you have to buy a new shaver, which you probably already have to do. Best case scenario, it sounds like many of these shavers actually have AAA batteries inside.

  • @bobfixes7640
    @bobfixes7640 5 месяцев назад

    Good video. But folks should be careful about removing the main assembly from the shell near the charging port. At 1:40 you pry the main assembly using a pocket knife screwdriver blade, BUT, there are two more tabs there that just need to be spread and it comes right out. The tabs are black so difficult to see against the base of the charge port. For the rest of you out there, simply spread them - one side at a time while lifting the charge port. It will come right out.
    Another thing, the battery is now available on Amazon and other places. Most are 680 maH while there are a few 800 maH of the same 49 x 14mm size for under $10. Very much worth changing the battery and heads given the direction Norelco is taking with their latest Series 500 angular heads.

      @@MathijsGroothuis Mathijs, AAA NiMH or NiCD rechargeable cells has 1,2V voltage. Li-ion 14500 cells has 3,7-3,8V. Shaver electrical board may detect your AAA cell as depleted/discharged due to low nominal voltage 3,7V vs 1,2V. That's the reason why shaver does not work without AC charger.
