How YouTube has changed my life (in 6 months with less than 500 subscribers)

- I wanted to share my journey of creating content for RUclips so far. As well as accountability for myself to look back on I wanted to create this video to connect with other creators on their own journeys with starting a RUclips channel. It has become such a big part of my life in a short time.
It's a really personal video and doesn't really fall into my usual content creation, it's something I wanted to do, not just for me but it might help you too.
I have learnt SO MUCH in a really short time and really reframed my views on what is important to me and why I love creating so much.
If you already have a channel or are thinking of doing so I really do encourage you to take the plunge. Go for it, have fun, and do it because you want to - not because you feel pressured by niches, metrics or pressure.
Please do comment so we can connect and encourage one another. We got this!

Hi Lucy, Just discovered your great channel by watching your video about the back to back houses. I’m proud to be a brummie and it’s great to see and listen to another brummie making videos about our wonderfully city. There 2-3 million of us in the West Midlands with very little content made about our region. So you have an audience of millions within ten miles of your home. I’ve subscribed to your channel because you are so engaging. Thanks for all your effort, It’s a pleasure to watch your videos. Best Regards, Pete
Pete, thank you so much. I’m quite overwhelmed by your lovely message and super thanks. I am such a proud Brummie! I love where I live, our history, our people, our community and our strength. It’s a pleasure to make the videos and I enjoy every moment of it, big warm hug to you xx
Just discovered this channel. Really interesting and well-filmed. Thanks…subscribed
Thanks and welcome, really appreciate it.
Lucy: I´m a 71 lady from Buenos Aires, Argentina. When I found your channel some months ago I felt your content was something like fresh air in the hard times we are all undergoing, not only in my country. Your videos are original, not repetitive, you always put good bits of information and investigations, and, best of all, it's as if you include me in your strolls, your visits, your meals, the prices. Everything is there to be shared with us, you viewers. I don´t have a Youtuve channel, but if I had, I´d like it to have some of the values I appreciate in yours. You are not superficial, you are deep an honest, and I really like that. If this channel has helped you deal better with your mental issues, that might be enough for you, but I have the feeling that your channel will grow. There are many of us all over the world that need contents like yours.
On the other hand, in my opinion, the quality of the videos is excellent, and you have an empathic personality, and always add funny comments to make it more enjoyable. Keep on doing these weekly videos,
🥹🥹🥹 You are so kind! Thank you! I started creating content I wanted to see to relax my tired mind. It really means a lot you can see that, you are a special person. Look forward to chatting to you on instagram xx
This… pretty much exactly what I just voiced here as well.
I completely agree with what mariamogaburu has said. Fresh and different contact. Truly its your enthusiam that makes it so enjoyable to watch.
Loving your attitude Lucy. I don't do utube, my Grandson who lives with me does. His is about computer games I belive. He wants to invent a game that no else has done. Anyway keep going, the first video of yours I watched was The Back to Back Houses. My interest is daily journaling started 2000. But now I make my own monthly ones. Also make birthday cards for family and friends.
Lucy, this channel is amazing! DO NOT give up. You are doing a fantastic job and all your content is so Informative, interesting and presented so brilliantly with such enthusiasm. You’re a success girl and you will only get more successful over time. Well done you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Bless you, thanks so much, I really appreciate it - just had to delete a bunch of meanie comments which also seems to come as part of the territory so I needed to see this right now ❤️
As a GenX I can say I am parched for unique, wholesome, genuine human being content at this stage in my social media journey.
Watching all my pop culture staples, touch stones and anchors disappear along with my own people has been something I never expected. Not so rapidly. not forgotten so quickly, even my native tongue (pre “global village broad Yorkshire dialect) has been deemed obsolete and replaced with V2.0 the hip hop edition
It’s like watching my lived experience being swept away by the sands of time while I’m still here living it and eventually the brush with catch up to my feet and take me with it.
It would be fine if it still felt like we were still on some glorious uptick of progress and improvement - but we seem to have fragmented and devolved into chaos and an ugly tribalism that has left me stunned.
I had no idea the slide towards Big Brother, dystopia and censorship would happen in my life time … let alone so quickly while I’m barely in my 50’s. This last 7 years has been such a seismic shift I’m now worried what state our society will have reached by retirement instead of looking forward to my sunset years.
Some days there’s comfort in knowing this is a global issue voiced across generations. Some days it feels much more final because of that.
@TheMockatiel 🎉
Thanks for your comment, as a baby Gen X - I was born in the year of the cross over I totally understand these feelings. I can't act as someone else to please if I am honest so I am just me ... lately I have been lucky to come across a group of people who seem to get it and the channel has started to grow, I feel really excited by it but it took a good deal of time just having vids that were seen by no one .. it's crazy to think we were the generation that grew up with no technology but have quickly adapted to use it effectively - but also with the compassion we were taught by not having it - man it's a complex issue. I appreciate your comment and I am going to check out your channel too because too like to listen to real people.
This is the second video of yours that I have watched. I have subscribed already because your channel is amazing!
I've just stormed through 4, subscribed and forwarded! What a fab channel
Wow, thank you! Thank you so much!
Only found your site by accident last week. I love quirky buildings, so loved your Last cave dwellers prefab housing...i grew up near some in south east london. The back to back housing, my 1st home was one...later condemned and demolished...in London. And the Brighton toy museum, that has really made me want to visit so its on my list. Think you present and edit really well, and if you post something im not interested in it really doesnt matter, i am just so delighted there are people like you who want to upload videos that so many enjoy. Keep going im looking forward to more of your adventures
You are so kind Michael, thank you ❤️
And, if you are not anxious about the number of subscribers, sooner or later your channel will be growing. I am subscribed to channels that initially had less than 200 subscribers, and in two or three years have reached over 20.000, some even more. Go, Lucy, go. Love from Buenos Aires
New subscriber here! Just wanted to let you know I have just watched your Birmingham back to back court houses and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the quirkiness of these real houses where you can feel all the lives that have been lived in them. Great work. Going to have a binge later. Best of luck! ❤
Thank you so much. Hope you enjoy them! There are nearly 50 now - I don’t know where they all came from 😂
I literally JUST found your channel. Social History?! HELLLOOO!! Love your content and how real you are, already. Subscribed and shared!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it! Honestly!
Loved this. I set up my first ever channel yesterday (under my small business name). Never thought I'd do this at all but I love watching great channels myself, I can see what they do for people, all the positive things, and want to contribute. Yes..am terrified..first video yet to be uploaded and I'll literally feel sick doing it!..but am encouraged by you Lucy! Keep going, you do make really interesting impassioned content. Well done.
You will love it! It's such fun and every week my highlight is sitting down and learning new skills with editing and sound and content - it's a real joy! Stick at it and remember every single view is a real person .. 1 or 100000 it's magic x
@@throughlucyslens thanks so much, will keep it simple to start with, the editing options look infinite and my brain is at capacity today!
PS I identified with the mental health bit - I needed to escape after caring for my elderly mum who has dementia, so I did the ultimate 'flight' and took a train to Aberdeen, then another from Aberdeen to Penzance (13+ hours!) all of which I recorded and uploaded to RUclips. The experience was amazing and exactly what I needed for some respite from my mum. However, I haven't yet mentioned on my channel exactly WHY I did the longest train ride in the UK. Maybe I will now, thanks to you and this video. It's about doing things that help our mental health and my trip + all the video editing was so much fun! Thank you for this video 🥰
I’d love to do that journey. Even though Penzance to reading I was pulling my hair out sitting down for so long, I think people love the why, it’s the human stories that help us connect and see kindred spirits - I’m going to watch your video tonight :)
@@throughlucyslens the seats on your route are supposed to be rock hard on the new 'state of the art' trains! 😩 My video is for train enthusiasts so you might be bored rigid! I find trains thrilling - a niche...
You now have nearly 7000 subscribers =-) I've watched a few small channels slowly build and a couple have reached a hundred thousand never expecting anywhere near the viewers they have now. With the numbers they changed their thoughts by thinking they needed to up their game - totally unnecessary - viewers are watching because the channels are simply put together and down to earth. Don't change Lucy and if you start up patreon please don't forget the people that can't afford it. Love your channel. =-)
Thanks Lorraine, I've seen that too, it's like everything gets extreme and expensive to keep people hooked. Won't happen here - I'd rather donate to charity than fly first class (although I would like to try it just once of course I would!) I will bare that in mind, your comment really made me smile tonight :)
Just post what you want. Many of us like a good variation. Call it an inquisitive bent!
Specialist channels are a niche thing. I love what you do with your housing coverage. I think the time of Tiny Homes, Self Builds, Flips, RV Life and Renovations has died on its @rse. I love history and to learn new things. Bear in mind, you are not a dating channel, who cares what you look like. Good enough is Good enough. Keep your chin up and stick with it.
Will do Tom, thank you ❤️
Lucy you are lovely! I have my own mental health demons and know what having a focus can do for you. Glad you found yours! You are a new friend to me so keep it up bab!
Thanks Bab! I need a goal otherwise I just spiral into my own negative thoughts, it’s tough isn’t it? We got this!
4 days ago you were thanking everyone for 1k subs, so happy for you to now have 2.5k subs! Congrats and it's well and truly deserved! Delightful videos in every single way! Go Lucy!❤
I’m flabbergasted to be honest..: what’s even happened! But like I say in this vid keep at it, do it for you, and eventually you’ll meet lovely folk like you enjoy the same things!
Now almost 3500, well deserved. I came across the back to backs video first of all, I thought it was well produced and summed the place up really well.
Is great to hear that YT has helped your mental health, that's a real reason to keep going!
100% I love it. It's given me a new lease of life ❤️
Thank you for continuing making your videos. I really enjoy them and your personality. 😊
Oh thank you! You are really lovely x
Im glad you show your feelings, don't worry about silly people ignore them keep up the good work your lovely amazing person look forward to much more kind regards.
You're the best!!!
🥹🥹🥹❤️
Lucy, we love what you do about where you live and like.
So appreciated Malcolm x
I just started my RUclips channel last year and I REALLY needed to hear this! So thank you so much! Really great advice to just enjoy it and look at it as a way to get you out of the house, instead of focusing on stats! Thank you for being so honest! I got recommended your episode on back to back houses and as I also love social and working class history, so the algorithm got it so right! I have subscribed and I can't wait to watch all your other videos!!
You got this! As naff as that sounds, honestly I’ve nearly it up so many times. Over Christmas I took a bit of a “break” that extended into the new year and I started to feel so sad again - and I was missing the creativity. I’m glad I did x
Luçy, I love this channel, as you English say keep a stiff upper lip. You have an eye for great interesting buildings and things some people don't notice but when you bring them into focus, I know that you have helped by making people aware of the seemingly mundane and opened up their eyes.
Thank you! 😃 means a lot, the channel has found its niche and so have I - it's lovely that I've been so guided by the good folk of You Tube too. Excited for the future ❤️
I enjoy watching content where the presenter is passionate about the topic. This channel hits the mark. Keep on making the content you love, Lucy.
Thanks Robin, really appreciate that x
Dear Lucy. Thanks for this video. I ran a small sewing channel but don’t really want to make videos about sewing any more as I don’t sew much. I asked my subs if they would mind if I changed - most said no. I’ve just retired and want to make videos about that. Thanks for the encouragement. Came to your channel via historic house videos - I live abroad so love to see the old country. I’ve subscribed and look forward to more videos from you😗
I think I'm seeing more it's about people rather than topics and once you find "your people" most will have similar interests to you. Thanks so much for your comment, I'm enjoying making the house videos so so much x
At the time I'm watching this video you are almost at 9500 subscribers. Looks like good content and a large dose of inspiration and perseverance are starting to pay off.
Thank you! I really do have to scratch my eyes in disbelief some days! I love it though and it's really changed my life for the better :)
I am happy that the youtube algorithm popped your channel in my feed.
I so enjoy your content, your love for the subject and often the voice we don't here in history-the everyday people. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for being brave enough to simply do what you do for the love of it.
I hope it always makes you feel this good.
If it ever doesn't ( and I truly hope that is never the case) gracefully exit and find the next thing that brings you joy.
Life is far too short to do things which harm you.
Stay well, hope you current cold leaves you soon.
You're helping me make a list of places to go see, thank you.
This is such a profound and beautiful comment. I just wanted to let you know that. ❤️
Happy to see your channel grew quite a bit since you released this video. The RUclips algorithm just needed some time to recommend your videos to the right people 😊. I just discovered your channel today and loved every video I watched so far. You have a knack for sharing your research in an entertaining and enthralling way, and your excitement adds greatly to making it a pleasure to watch.
(Please excuse any weird mistakes, English is not my mother tongue)
Your English is probably better than my English! Wonderful: thank you so much for your lovely comment, it's been a strange time. I am enjoying this journey sooo much it's unreal ❤️
I just discovered your channel and I really like it.
Welcome! And thank you so much.
Hi Lucy, l’m on the other side of the world in Victoria ,Australia and l enjoy and look forward to your honest chat about old buildings and the interesting life’s of others who have lived and worked before us. Please keep going , Lucy love Australia 😊
Thank you, I feel like I have only just started and couldn't do it without wonderful people like yourself cheering me on!
Hi Lucy I just found your channel the other day. I am originally from Macclesfield, living in Australia. I love social history and I'm loving your videos because you show just what I'm interested in.
I have a little RUclips channel where I just rabbit on about anything I feel like but haven't been posting regularly. You've given me some inspiration!
Just do it! Honestly, when I started I looked at it as a little diary, that will be imprinted in time forever, it's becoming more now which is exciting but new pressures - but enjoy it, and thank you for your lovely comment x
So inspirational!
We love your videos.
That's so kind - thank you Rob ❤️
Do you remember how we used to watch a programme at school called "How we used to live"? Your videos rekindle that in all of us.
Thank you. I probably am doing that even a bit subliminally as they were always the programmes I loved to watch, even as a small child x
This is the video that made me hit the subscribe button. What a kindred spirit I have found in you! Wonderful 😍
Wow, thank you! I really am thankful. Look forward to chatting wit you on here ❤️
Very well said.
I started my RUclips channel in a similar vein to yours.
Going on holiday, found next to nothing about it online so I thought I'd film it and post it on here 1 for anyone who's going to the same place but 2 and the main reason, it's a memory to where I've been and stuff I've done.
As I write I'm only at 226 subscribers but I don't rely on this to ever be a full time income, just a hobby. Luckily I work a decent job that pays well so I can afford to go on holiday twice a year and do some little trips here and there which keeps me sane.
A lot of things you've put about mental health and ADHD ring true to me as well.
Well done for what you're doing and keep up the good work
Thanks so much, totally keep on going, I will check out your videos because I LOVE seeing what other people get up to on their holidays! Doesn't even matter where they go - humans by nature are really nosy and this is a great platform for it. ADHD sucks doesn't it? It's the one part of me I wish I could change, but on the other hand without it I doubt I would be half as determined x
Lucy - that was BRILLIANT ! I've just watched your video about Great Yarmouth, and this one randomly appeared in my suggested list. WOW, how your channel has grown, and quite rightly too. You deserve every single sub. Your content is fascinating, honest, down to earth and full of fun - just like you I suspect. It's a JOY to see your videos appear and I love watching you on your adventures. A true honest lovely person - thanks Lucy for being YOU ! Never change, we all love you for who you are ! Thanks and take special care 🙂 X X X X
Thank you, I really appreciate that and thank you for your kindness. I love making my you tube videos it's a joy, not only the filming but meeting so many new friends along the way x
This is one cool Lucy talk, thank you!
Aww thank you!! ❤️

Love your shows ever0ne of them are entertaining, Love your points of Views.. your filming is fine..And your face is So Pretty, your hair is Lovely blowing in the breeze...Your where I go when I need to run away...Keep on doing what your doing as long as it makes you HapPy!

Logged in after a very stressful day and this is so lovely. I'm terrible at taking compliments but I am just going to say thank you - you have helped me today ❤️
I've only just found your channel and love it.
My late husband was a Brummie and he would have loved it too.
You're a great teacher and presenter.
Thank you so much from one Brummie to another! Really touched about your husband, I'm sorry for your loss and hope you have thousands of happy memories x
I just found you a week ago. I guess the algorithm sent you. It was the back to back houses. They were amazing. I just felt the pain of living in those conditions and working in the factories. What a situation. I like your videos and look forward to more. You are as real as they get and I like that.
That's so lovely. Thank you. I can't be anything but myself - I'd make a terrible actor 🤣
Lucy your doing great 👍🏻 I subscribed straight away like many others! You are great & full of positivity, personality & an honesty with warmth. We (subscribers) love your passion! Happy to follow you on this journey
Thank you. I appreciate that a lot ❤️
A pleasure to have genuine, honest content.
You are a success! Do not stop, I am going back to your start and watch your 😅growth!
Loving it!
Oh gosh wouldn't it be great. I've got people commenting from all over the world about the most wonderful houses I can only dream of going to see! X
Lucy I found you by accident and I love your videos about your travels . You have guts to go and travel solo , that’s what I like about your videos .
Keep doing what you are doing!
Aww thank you! I’ve not had much opportunity to go far lately and I’m hating it! It becomes addictive. Absolutely love you for that comment x
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!! Always love when something brings out this fire in you. Proud of you ❤️
Thank you! I made this for my own accountability more than anything. I didn’t expect anyone to see it 😂
Give it time. We are just getting to know you and algorithms. You brilliant. Don’t sweat it. Do what you know and it will happen maybe not Godspeed but better bc you can learn well
Thank you. I really appreciate that ❤️
Well done Lucy define your own success I love your videos. Big is not better it comes with more pressure and there are lots of people following advice regarding increasing numbers who end up having a total meltdown. The advice is not really to help you but to fill platform demands and number crunching. Anything of real value is not about a number just as the size a woman is doesn’t make her beautiful or attractive so the same is true for videos. The bigger the audience the worst people pleasing gets! Just continue with sharing the passion and forget the numbers ❤
Thank you! Yes I totally get that: I already get stressed about "posting weekly" and I've got a full time job and goodness knows what else going on. I can see how it could take over. I see people doing behind the scenes vids and they stay in a location for an hour - don't soak anything in. I don't want to become like that x
Thanks!
You are amazing. And thank you so much, I’m speechless x
I found you earlier this week. I live in the US and love everything British. I've only been there once but hope to return again. I'm enjoying your videos. And yes I have subscribed. Thanks for sharing. Keep it up! ❤
Thank you so much, looking forward to taking you on further travels :) x
I have just discovered this channel. This is the second video that I have seen. I subscribed and look forward to seeing what you do next. 😊
Awesome! Thank you! I really appreciate it x
I discovered your channel yesterday and I think you're brilliant!! I lived in Brum five years over the pandemic and now I reside in Coventry so your historical videos are so interesting, lots of places I now can't wait to go and check out myself
Oh wow, thank you. I appreciate it that much! You'll have to let me know if there's anything in Coventry worth a mooch as it's a nice easy drive ❤️
Been watching you for a while. This video really moved me. You were ashamed of being upset …. Lucy!!!! Have you seen the bake off??? They cry over cake!!!! But it’s not about that is it, it’s about the love for what you do. I thank you for continuing to post with honesty🥰
Wanna know a secret? I know all about Bake Off - I was the stand-by contestant in 2012 and 2013 - part of the reason I worry about rejection so much I think, such hard work and for "no gain" And it made me feel like I wasn't good enough. A bit like not being picked for sports .. I was never picked for sports .. thank goodness! haha
@@throughlucyslens
Oh Lucy 🥹. Sorry I used bake off as an example mate ffs that’s putting my foot in it with a ten size welly please forgive me. I could write a book and tell you all sorts that would make your hair curl and I would encourage you so much. You’re amazing …. Anyway who needs cake??? (As I eat another cherry bakewell lol ) some things are just too private to put on here but you go girl you’re doing great 🥰 P.S. I hated sports too I used to have to sit n write out the dictionary ( I loved that lol)
@@traceywoodall6937 Oh gosh, do not worry about it at ALL - It's all part of lifes rich tapestry of experiences... and I am still a flipping great baker! OMG - I never did PE after I was 13 .. they had given up on me! They used to let me do my homework in the changing rooms! haha
Thank you so much for your videos. I really look forward to seeing them. The first things of yours I saw was the one about the back to back houses and the prefabs . I was hooked as I am fascinated by social history. Keep going. You are amazing 😊
Glad you like them - and thank you so much, it really means a lot ❤️
Thanks for being vulnerable and for your wonderful channel. By the way, I was diagnosed late with ADHD also! It’s quite common for women! x
It's weird isn't it - part of me is glad I never knew, because I just cracked on, but the other part of me feels angry because so many parts of me that have been maybe painted as "negative" (messy, chaotic...) are just who I am and now I just embrace it!

I don't think I'll believe it if I see it 😂
Hi Lucy, thank you for your honesty ❤ and I am so glad that you have kept going otherwise I wouldn't have found you 😊 I watch quite a few channels, and what they all have in common with you is that they are just normal people talking about what they are interested in or what they have been doing and I love that 😀 Please keep being you, and thank you for what you do 🥰
Thanks Margaret, I watch similar channels too, I am just really interested in other peoples lives, some might call me nosy .. I say interested ;)
@@throughlucyslens My husband tells me that I'm nosy, from now on I will say no, I'm not nosy, just interested 😄

My mum grew up in Solihull and I used to work in St.Pauls Square. Could you do something on that area or maybe the jewelry quarter? Big hug, Julia
Thanks so much for your lovely comment. My mom is actually a bell ringer at st.pauls - I should ask her! I made this video quite a while back and although mental health won't suddenly not be an issue anymore it's sure great to have people enjoying my videos x
Got to agree with this video, been on here for 8 yrs just posting my travels but the past 2 year I really got into it with the aim to monetize to help me with travel costs, past 6 months I have realised I manage to get out there regardless so I don't look at the Analytics much or aiming for monetization, like you say if it happens, bonus, I just love doing it and it encourages me to get out there exploring regardless as there is a large handful of people who love what I do, with ya all the way on this
Exactly! I never look at the numbers. What I love is comments and interaction and feeling part of something. I just feel very happy to have a new hobby and if people want to come along with me it’s a bonus. You got this, I’ll check out your videos: I love travel vlogs x

Wow so in 9 mo the you e gone from less than 500 subs to over 10k subs, that’s absolutely amazing, well done 👏🏻 totally understand the crying about losing followers. Myself and my husband have a Instagram page and keep going from 1,005 to 1,114, literally gain lose gain lose lol we’re about campervan conversion, what do these people want or expect from us lol
I was so upset when that was happening but I don't think I had found my niche and my heart wasn't fully in it, since I've been putting out there what I truly like it's been magical! Oh gosh don't start me on Instagram 😂😂😂 I've got a blue tick account for my business I have recently closed and I think over 10 years I've lost as many as I've gained .. it's a head f!

Subscribed today as just found your channel. Thank you for this particular video as I've depression (still on the meds) I made a little video but didn't post it so maybe I will try again. Love the social history videos you do! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome! I try and look as my meds as a blessing these days, I've tried to come off but it's never worked. I've accepted it's who I am, give it a shot. It's scary but worth it. I never thought so many people would be enjoying my social history content and it's really helped me find my "vibe" and people - so appreciative x
Love your videos, I am in UK but have never been to Birmingham and have found your social media films so interesting. In the south west the Industrial Revolution really didn’t happen as in the midlands and north, or factories very much at all. It came home to me a few years ago when my husband and I were stranded in Lancaster for an afternoon as the car had broken down. We went to visit this grand house up on a hill, they had a butterfly house, other than that I have no idea where it was. He was a cotton king, there was a video to watch and the filthy poverty that he allowed his workers to live I remember still. Put against places like the Cadbury village. Would that be a place for a video? Really enjoying what you do, keep doing it.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Helen. I have applied for permission to film on the Cadbury estate- they still have very strict laws.. watch this space ❤️
😘👍💚
I've only got 446 subscribers on my channel which has a number of different playlists from cycle ride videos to recorder videos. I'm not bothered about getting paid (I don't make any money from RUclips) but I do know the time and love that goes into making each video. I love your videos and, as I said before, you seem so nice! Please continue as you're one of my favourite RUclipsrs in that you're not churning out videos, each video is well thought through. 🥰
Thanks Bev, that means a lot. Sometimes I edit a whole video and just think “no.. it’s no good” and other times it comes out better than I imagine. But like you it’s for the fun isn’t it? And more recently the community. I’m a bit of a loner & I love connecting with people on here ❤️

You go to the best town in lancashire Blackpool.
You are just so amazing. In every way possible. All the best from Burnley.
Oh Damien I felt bad “liking” this comment! It’s so sad when everything gets on top of us! Keep going and believe better things are on the horizon.
With love x
You like it all you want. It's fine honest.
I'll get back out there start camping and see if I can see any ufos lol.
I'll be getting my butt on rollercoasters and funfairs too.

This is the real meaning for fail.
@@damienlovestheoutdoorsandr6110 YESSS get on those rollercoasters! Blow the cobwebs away! Look forward to seeing you do it :)
This video just popped up in my feed and we can absolutely relate to all what you’ve said.
At times it can be hard to figure out certain aspects, whether it be the thumbnail or the title.
Video editing ….i have had previous experience with editing albeit in a different style ( I used to edit kayaking videos and they are basically just visual clips, no need for including a dialogue, they are easier). Having said all that, editing this new style that includes a dialogue requires much more expertise. It’s a learning curve.
Our focus is adventure, travel, history, humour. We can’t simply do just the same thing all the time, life isn’t like that. We are human and make mistakes, that’s how you learn.
We’ve subscribed because we like your content. 😊
Thank you! You are absolutely right trying to separate what I love doing but also making it appealing to an audience is really tough, making the videos is a lot of hard work in itself isn’t it? Since I’ve been doing videos with voiceovers and camera facing introductions the videos have definitely had a wider appeal. That sadly has come with some “interesting” comments too! I’ll say hello back as I have a camper van and its great to see what you have been up to x
@@throughlucyslens Still early on in our RUclips journey and we too find that the choices you have are, doing a vlog dedicated to a particular audience or creating a reality documentary in regards to your journey. We stick to doing the things we love doing and that way it remains authentic.
Of course, some “how to” videos are informative and attract a different audience, they are transactional videos. Which are fine too. But we need people to stick around.
👍🏼👍🏼 to camper van !!!
I’ve found voice overs can be tedious but hopefully I’m improving.
We all must keep going in our RUclips journey. 😊
@@JustForTheWeekendvanlife So many of the people on here that push "how to grow a You Tube Channel" are always talking about "how to" videos - but like you I want to grow a community, I want to speak to real people.
Omg if you heard my unedited voiceovers they are FULL of expletives and me getting mad with myself! Sometimes I record the same thing 20 odd times .. I feel you on that!
Its good to Talk...I am on catch up with you having watched you for the first time last week when you was covering that place in Northfield....Just remind subscribers that it is free to subscribe and that you love to read the comments and answer them where possible....oh another thing, always try and look your best when in front of the camera (which you do)
I think you have a great channel, keep up the good work.....Take care.
Thanks Des. Appreciate that! ❤️
Hi keep up the good work, your very articulate and interesting i was not aware you were from brum, i should know im from the midlands myself east midlands leicester.
Thank you :)
@@throughlucyslensyour welcome, do you ever travel to skegness??
Youve done well then as youve got 8K!! I only have 40 subscribers and the highest viewed video is under 500 views! I upload on monday and friday evenings usually. My channel isnt just impressions, I also post food videos!
I needed to hear this today Lucy! ❤
You got this!
I love your channel and right this moment so admire the CANADA mug you have behind you ... have you been? I am from Canada but moved to England a while back to marry an Englishman ...
Yes I have! Just Toronto only, but I loved it - I collect mugs from everywhere I go in the world.
I have Autism, just to be honest. Love your channel..
I have autism too darling. Wear it with pride, it's our super power ❤️
@@throughlucyslens thank you.
@throughlucyslens I won't give up. I only started uploading videos to my channel last year. Its just a hobby, I don't make any money from it. I like writing poetry so there's quite a few poems I've done on there.
You know if you are doing it because you love it that's all that matters. Keep going, keep leaving a digital imprint of your life and creativity that will be there for ever xxx
I believe that yt unsubscribes, I often listen to you tubers saying that they have no idea why, yt unsubscribes people. People have to check if they are still subscribed, it is nothing you have done. Yes you will lose one or two but not that many overnight.
It was so weird when it kept happening. You could well be right, very disheartening though - but we keep going ❤️
MR BEEF 🤣
🤷♀️who? 😂
Oh yeah - (re you saying you worry about people saying nasty things about the way you look) - I get that from people! Funnilly I'm not too bothered about that. It's usually about my age (49). Oh well, never mind!
Awww loved this! I think I pretty much went through all the same angsts.
We are all human aren't we? I think there's so much fakeness online. We all think and feel similar things and handle them in different ways - I like a good cry and move on!
Hi Lucy what camera mic editing setup do you use ive been hankering about setting a channel up
Initially I just used my iPhone with internal (for this video) I use an osmo pocket 3 now - but can't afford the mic yet so using notes on my phone and editing the audio manually -
Probably much easier ways to do it 😂
@@throughlucyslens that's a big help to me as I'm clueless lol
@@sammygirlie345 I was too - but I would recommend start with what you have got first, there's no point spending a tonne of money until you see if you enjoy it or not. The editing took me a LONG time to figure out - lots of shouting at my laptop but now i've got into a rhythm I enjoy it. Biggest tip is make sure you have a good internet connection otherwise it's a CHORE!
watched 3 videos tonight, first time. youtube fault for not sending an obvious fit my way. oh well. later.
❤️❤️❤️
Great personality! But no way your a gen x. I thought you were in your twenties...!
