  • Here's a simple modification to a kayak hoist (Harken Hoister) to automate raising and lowering. There are many solutions to kayak garage storage, but this is a successful method for me and worth sharing. Enjoy! For more videos, tips and tricks follow on Facebook: / chesapeake.kayak.trolling

This looks great! I have a Native Titan 12 that weighs around 110 lbs and also have the Harken Hoist that a friend helped install a couple of years ago. It definitely is a lot of pulling like you say, and would use the boat more with this type of system. Probably not as mechanically inclined as you but now planning to buy one of the Pullzall winches and install it. Would it be possible to do a short video or photos that show the attachments, especially the one near the ceiling, as well as other parts or issues relating to your setup?

Great video! How is it connected to the wall ?

I secured a board to the studs. Then I secured a U-Bolt at the top where I attached the pulley, and a steel loop at the bottom where I clip the hoist onto. The hoist comes with a hook attachment...you can see it at the 22 second mark.

How did you get around the excess length of the hoist? The pullzall I'm seeking has 15' of length to it.
